DH and I purchased this 12" Spa sensations Mattress in Aug and SO glad we did. Other reviews on this site helped to make the decision to buy, plus the 5 year warranty and the fact it could be returned if we didn't like it. Just try to take it back !!It is firm but not hard, and it doesn't bog up around you so we haven't slept hot, which was a concern. We did ship to store and picked it up. I would recommend this, and add the following. Get the pkg. home and remove from shipping boxes, leaving in the box like it would be on a store shelf. It is very large and heavy so a small handtruck would have been useful. Get the box on the box springs and remove box. Then remove plastic "bag" that contains mattress. It will open fast. Now quickly flip mattress so the zipper is on the bottom. We had several mins. discussion as to which was top or bottom and this is how it was. Our mattresss nearly fully re-inflated in a couple hours and 98 percent at the 12 hr. mark. There was never a smell so that was great. The first couple of nights I thought it was a bit firm, but by night 3 it "loosened" up. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia and that means difficulty with sleep surfaces to begin with. This is the BEST mattress we ever had and that is saying something. Once we figured which pillows worked for us on the bed we were set. We were sleeping on a Aerobed and loved it, before it leaked, but we were tired of replacing it after a couple years,(it was our 3 rd one, so this is what we bought. We just hope the memory foam doesn't get Altzheimers LOL. We have told everyone about it and will continue to do so. I think this is a wonder product and hope it stays around for a long time.

    A Sleeping Wonder!

To all who are considering buying this product, I strongly recommend that you take a chance on it. I did, and I don't for a second regret it. Great product at an even greater price. Due to fibromyalgia, back problems, and a host of other problems, I found it more and more difficult to sleep on the traditional (though great) mattress I had. I could not sleep on my back because of nerve damage; could not sleep on my right side because of bursitis in the shoulder; and could not sleep on my left side because of hip pain. There was no way to get comfortable. Sleep came here and there, and I didn't realise how much good sleep I was losing until I got this mattress. From the first night since getting it, I have slept at least a full 8 hours straight. What a joyful blessing! My family and friends lay on the mattress and all I can hear is, "Ahhhh" . . . before I have to politely shove/push/kick them off of it. It feels as if the pain is leaving your body and sinking beneath and beyond you. My mother, after trying to tempt me to give it up to her (the only thing I can recall ever refusing her), ordered one for herself. She, too, suffers from many physical problems that caused her to sleep only a couple of hours at a time. Now, as I pass her bedroom in the morning, I can finally again see her sleeping on her back - something she's not been able to do in years. Every night she's able to sleep longer and longer. To note, there was no smell to my mattress as some have mentioned. Certainly can't say that others won't have that problem. Give it a try if you have physical problems that disturb your sleep. I think you will find it a blessing and be more than pleased with it. It's a heck of a lot of fun to set up! No joking. If you happen to cut into the second layer of plastic, as I did with both mattresses, then you'll find yourself having a great laugh and enjoying it even more! Best Regards, CW

My wife and I decided we wanted to try a memory foam mattress. We had never slept on one, and decided to read about them. I tend to over research everything i buy, i will spend hours online before making a decision. I went to local furniture stores and tried out the different memory foam mattresses, including tempur-pedic. They were nice, but rediculously priced. This is when i decided to look on Wal-mart.com. And i am so glad i did. I read the reviews, even though the good reviews far outweighed the bad, i was still skeptical. I decided to try it, it is awesome. I have had a sore back for months on my old mattress. I have had this one for about a month now, and i have felt great every morning, even after the first night. Bottom Line: BUY ONE! You won't regret it. And it comes in a box, much easier for hauling if you choose site to store. Hope this helps!

My husband and I are looking to get the 12" matress. He has severe lower back pain/spasms, neoropathy, and his hips grind bone on bone. I have arthritis in all joints, hip injuries, lower back injuries, nerve damage in my neck and shoulders and narcolepsy...(quit laughing, yes we are a medically messed up couple! LOL) we both wake up all night in horrible pain from the pressure of our current matress. We went to a bed store and tried out the memory foam beds there. We need a matress that will be not firm, but not soft....but on the softer side of medium. (if that makes since) and we cant afford one for $2000.00, so that is why we are looking at this one. He is a side and back sleeper, I am a stomach sleeper. He sleeps overheated hot no matter the season, and I sleep shivering cold no matter what. IS THERE ANYONE HERE THAT CAN SOMEHOW RELATE TO US AND GIVE US YOUR HONEST OPINION ON IF THIS MATRESS WILL HELP US OR KILL US? :) and are we going to be replacing it every 5 years for the rest of our lives?

    • Yes - my wife has slept on the couch for the last year - now she is back in bed and can't get out in the morning because it is so comfee. This bed is firm although you melt in to it - it responds quickly so if you toss and turn you will be ok. For a little over 400 bucks you can't beat it. We placed it on our existing box springs although I think I will buy a solid bed for it because you can feel movement. We bought the 12" and love it.

    • Well I am pregnant and my old mattress was breaking my back. This mattress has honestly helped me a ton! I was waking up every few hours from my back hurting with my old one but since I have been sleeping on this one I have slept like a baby and never want to get out of bed! I don't know if my problems are different than yours though.

    • Can't answer the part about if it will last 5 years or not as have only have about 3 weeks, but I suffered from lower back, hip and shoulder pain - some I didn't even realize were bothering me until the morning I woke up after the first night sleepng on the mattress - all except slight shoulder pain was gone! With regard to firmness, the edges feel soft when you "roll" onto/into the bed, but about 8" from the edge is firmer. Feels sort of firm at first, then softens as you sink in and then kind of just supports you. The heaviest portions of your body tend to sink the deepest. It's winter now so haven't discovered how hot or cold would be in the summer. So far can regulate heat with putting covers on or throwing off as you would with a normal mattress. Don't want to sound cavalier about it, but at $400 I was thinking in worst case could probably afford to lose it all if couldn't return (vs. $2000+ for a Tempur). However, really have had no thoguhts of doing that. Again, everone's body is different. Hope this helps some at least.

    • I have had back problems and joint pain from sleeping on traditional spring mattresses and did much better with a Tempur-pedic...HOWEVER, that bed cost $2500.00 and only last about five years. I just bought this mattress and while it's not as firm as my Tempur-pedic originally was, you might be comfortable with it. I've been sleeping well without all the aches and pains I had before.

    • I have a bulging disk in my lower back, my husband has bad arthritis in his back and shoulder pain. We bought this about a month ago and during the first week we experienced some discomfort in the mornings. I think it was just our bodies getting used to the memory foam. Now I wake up without pain in the mornings. We had an expensive serta pillowtop mattress before and woke up in pain in the night and in the morning. It has certainly helped our pain. I was also worried about it being too firm because we were going from a deep pillowtop, but I'd say this mattress isn't near as firm as some of the tempur-pedic mattresses we tried out in the furniture store. It's also not so soft that you sink to the bottom. I'm a stomach sleeper. My husband is a side sleeper. The thing with a memory foam in general is that its harder to change positions while you sleep because it contours to your body. That's great because its comfortable and keeps you from tossing and turning all night, but in the beginning it was a big annoying. My husband freezes at night and I burn up. I bought some light weight sheets and haven't noticed that it gets too hot, but its still winter. I don't know about how durable the mattress is because we haven't had it long enough, but I doubt it will last as long as a traditional mattress and boxspring. At this price though you could probably afford to replace it every 5 years. Hope that helps you. Your situation is so similar to mine that i felt obliged to answer. :)

    • My wife used to have back pain in our old spring bed. It is too early to tell right now since we've only been sleeping on this new spa sensations mattress for about a week now, but wifey hasn't complained about any back pains (yet.) But your issues are more severe seem like. Best bet would be to try this same mattress somewhere else. I can tell you this - we've visited mattress stores and tried memory foams there - this compares to the around $500-$800 range mattresses in store in feel. It is not too firm, not too soft either. I would say more like a medium firm. Also, you feel a little more heat than you do in a spring mattress (sleeps a little hot.) Hope this helps.

If your memory foam mattress still emits a strong odor after 3 months would you consider that unusual or defective?
    by an anonymous customer 11/20/2010
    • i have had mine for 4 months and it only has a faint smell if i smash my face into it and breath.however i have another on about 4 months old but in a spare room thats not air conditioned and on a hot day when i open the door the whole room smells of chemical odor but that bed doesnt get used much

    • We only experienced the odor for a few days. Because I have breathing problems this would be a concern for me. I don't believe that I could sleep on it. Also, after 90 days Walmart is no longer involved in the replacement or return. However, you probably already know this. Good luck! Terri

    • I would definitely consider this unusual. Our mattress smelled a little at first (not a lot), and took a couple of days to get rid of the smell. A week at the most.

    • Absolutely! I have had two memory foam mattresses and neither of them had any real odor at all after about a week.

    • Yes, I would say it's probally defective. Mine took about 2 weeks to air out. And that was with it sitting untouched, with baking soda on it for 5 days. Then I vacuumed it off. After that, I put white cotton towels between my sheets and the matress, to absorb the left over oder for the rest of the 2 weeks. Then washed the towels. Eventually, it was fine. But, oder after 3 months, it's definately a red flag.
