Reviews

Review by Library Journal (2001-07-01)

It's New Years Eve 1999, early morning in Washington, DC. Dozens are dead in a subway station, and no one saw the killer. A ransom note demanding $20 million has been sent to the mayor; if the money is not delivered, more people will die. A freak accident leaves the writer of the note dead and a robotic killer on the loose. FBI agent Margaret Lukas and Peter Kincaid, a handwriting expert, are teamed to find the killer.

Suspense builds, and a romance between Lukas and Kincaid develops. Deaver, best-selling author of 14 novels, including The Coffin Dancer and The Bone Collector, does not disappoint. The Devil's Teardrops has a tight plot, interesting characters, and an unexpected conclusion. William Dufris produces a different and believable voice for each character and is a pleasure to listen to. Recommended for all public libraries. Patsy E. Gray, Huntsville P.L., AL

And the last night of the millennium, as fate would have it. One mass murder has already occurred, and as the countdown for New Years begins, the cops try to prevent a second massacre.
