This bicycle is not a racing bike nor is it a mountain bike. The Admiral is a very comfortable, around town, bicycle. The seat and the handle bars are are very nice. I am able to ride in the upright position that I desire. everything works well so far. I have had the bike for two months. You can buy a better bike like this for around $600.00 but not for under $200.00.

We were moving to The Netherlands and wanted to bring bikes with us. I have a Schwinn mountain bike worth $1500 but I didn't want to use it for around town riding and run the risk of it getting stolen, so we decided to buy 2 new Schwinn bikes from Walmart. They were already assembled my Walmart when we bought them. There was tweaking I had to do like adjusting the de-railers, setting the brakes. The rims aren't exactly true but they are not too bad. Both ride quite and the de-railers shift very well. The springy seat is pretty comfortable. The rack on the back is holding up well. I've strapped 40# of dog food, firewood and even a crate of 24 beer bottles on the back. We have been in The Netherlands now for about a month and the bikes are holding up well. A very small amount of rust has developed on a bracket up front for my front fender but I don't really care. I ride in the rain alot so it is bound to happen. I have logged about 200 miles on the bike already. It has held up very well in my opinion. A great bike for $150. I honestly wouldn't think about any other "city" style bike for $150. This bike would be a bargain at $250 in my opinion. I highly recommend this bike!!

I bought this bike and am glad I did. I wanted a bike that could go farther than my comfort bike but still ride like one. Rides real well, shifts gears quietly and smoothly, in fact the bearings in general are quieter than my comfort bike(Schwinn Riverside). I know there are better bikes out there, but I am very happy with this one and for the $139 tag, I really don't feel I or you can go wrong. Truth is I have nothing negative to say about it except I didn't like the seat that much, but hey, that's why they sell seats separate. My one recommendation is, and I recommend this to anyone buying a bike, make sure you spin all the tires and check the rims, check to make sure stuff works properly before you leave the store. There were 3 in the store I bought mine, only the one I bought didn't have bent rims. I am pretty sure they get bent from people mishandling them when taking them down from the racks.

I am well-satisfied with my Schwinn Admiral. I've had it for one day; time will tell how it holds up. I looked at bikes in stores before buying this online. I saw the Admiral once or twice at Wal-Mart. They never stayed on the shelf long before being sold. Not wishing to wait for a bike to become available, I overcame my reluctance about buying online. I have no regrets about buying online; my bike arrived in good condition. The factory box containing my Admiral was over-boxed with a slightly larger box. It came via UPS. My bike was in good condition; packaging and padding were adequate but not over-the-top. I thought the bike might come with one or two tools, but none were included. My bike has a minor scuff on the top tube and the rear brake cable is frayed and missing its lead crimp. Nothing serious. A bit more disappointing is my front wheel; it is not perfectly true. I do not complain about this -- or the lack of tools -- for the price. You need a 6mm hex key for the handlebars, a Phillips screwdriver, and an adjustable wrench for seat and pedal installation. (A 14mm / 15mm open-end wrench works nicely for the seat and pedals.) A 5mm hex key is useful as well. Maybe one or two other tools I forget to mention. You need to air up the tires, of course. Wisely, they do not over-inflate the tires during shipping. I chose the Admiral because it has fenders, a chainguard, and a rack. These items all work fine. The rack looks like aluminum but it's made of steel. I didn't want fancy-pants suspension components. This bike has none except for the seat. One thing I didn't account for: 28" wheels with fenders makes locking this bike problematic. Nothing that cannot be overcome. This bike rides very well. The 28" wheels provide low rolling resistance -- this is a fast bike. The frame geometry is not "forgiving" but more on the agile side. Keep in mind this is a largish bike. I am 5'10" with short legs. This bike is almost too large for me. The out-of-true front wheel is felt during braking, but it's not noticeable otherwise. I might have someone tune it up with a spoke wrench. My front brake needs adjustment. I'm not enamored of the brake design, but they work OK. I'm used to "bike shop" bikes with better components. The Admiral's brake design is the only mechanical nit I will complain about. Everything else is well spec-ed, given the bike's price. Overall, this bike is a tremendous value for the money. Whenever you buy something "major" it's important to do your research and set your expectations appropriately.

Such a beautiful bike so easy to ride with big wheels. Feels solid yet light weighted and just love the leather handles - unique - and it even comes with a bell! I'm only 5-8, 9 and like to ride upright and think even 5-7 can handle this tall bike. One note - it may require a big wrench to loosen the nut to assemble the handle bar. I think it's designed for installation without loosening the nut, but I had to use the big wrench to turn the nut and flip the front fork around from the backwards shipping position. It does require some spoke adjustments due to their length after shipping and a break-in ride. Also some adjustment for the supporting rods for the shinning fenders - done with pleasure. One more bonus - with the front tire quick release, I can even put the bike in the trunk of my car - with folding-down back seats though. It's picked up at store shipped double boxed and no damages found with any parts.
