Berlin 1942
When Bruno returns home from school one day, he discovers that his belongings are being packed in crates. His father has received a promotion and the family must move from their home to a new house far far away, where there is no one to play with and nothing to do. A tall fence running alongside stretches as far as the eye can see and cuts him off from the strange people he can see in the distance.
But Bruno longs to be an explorer and decides that there must be more to this desolate new place than meets the eye. Outstanding book Hi to all. I read this book because the comercials on TV made me curious. Also the 2 boys sitting on opposite sides of the face intrigued me. I was so curious I went out to buy it. I got it thru walmart.com. If you do so you will not only pay the cheapest price anywhere but whether you have it delivered to your house or site to store you will get great and speedy service. The book was absolutely great. Read it in 2 days. It is a very small book. But I couldn't put it down. Please take the chance and read it. It is extremely well written and keeps you thinking thru the whole movie. Ending was a litlle frustrating to me. You just don't know what to say after you read it. I hope this gets you more interest in reading it. You will be glad you did. 06/16/2009
Great look at life in a German family during WW2 This book did a fantastic job of showing what it was like for German families during the war. The children of WWII were affected no matter what side of the fence they were on. 10/04/2011
