Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn (who won the Academy Award(R) for Best Actress for her performance) are unforgettable as perplexed parents in this landmark 1967 movie about mixed marriage. Joanna (Katharine Houghton), the beautiful daughter of crusading publisher Matthew Drayton (Tracy) and his patrician wife Christina (Hepburn), returns home with her new fiance John Prentice (Sidney Poitier), a distinguished black doctor. Christina accepts her daughter's decision to marry John, but Matthew is shocked by this interracial union; the doctor's parents are equally dismayed. Both families must sit down face to face and examine each other's level of intolerance. In "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner," director Stanley Kramer has created a masterful study of society's prejudices.

A Well Done and Powerful Movie from the 1960's I love this movie and bought it for nostalgic reasons and because I remembered it as being very powerful. Sidney Potier was my favorite actor in junior high and high school. The whole cast is all-star. Katherine Hepburn's performance is especially powerful. With all the different ethnic groups coming together in America today, I think the message of this movie is just as relevant now as it was in the 1960's. The only negative is that if you don't have a widescreen TV the picture won't fill your whole screen. It would be nice to have the choice fo choosing a widescreen or regular format. 09/01/2011
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner I loved this movie as a child and it's even better now in DVD! I ordered it "site to store" since I couldn't find it in any stores. The price was evened lowered as I waited for my new store to open! It came 4 days early even! I had an excellent experience in ordering this product as well as the product itself! Guess Who's Coming To Dinner A timeless movie, about interacial relationships, that applies today as much as it did when made in the 60's. Amazing performances by renowned actors. A movie about practicing what you preach. Worthy of owning. 05/31/2009
Love conquers all! This movie is a great exploration of racial relations and old school ideals that still exist today. All the actors, including the unknowns, really express the true emotions felt in these situations. Ultimately, this movie's message is 'Love conquers all'. Is it not how life should be in reality? It seems today's society seems to forget that love can be found in the least likely of places. I hope this movie will open your heart. 02/17/2008
