it is solid wood, I recommend two people for assembly due to the weight and size

Particle, you may have to dish out 3-4 times as much for a solid piece of furniture

particle board, but with a great finish that has wood grain texture.

MDF stands for "medium density fiberboard" which is little filings of wood that have been compressed together. If it absorbs any moisture it will permanently warp.

Is this made out of solid wood or is it made out of particle board?

NO! This is what I was worried about. I'd say along with checking the tightness on the screws about once-twice a year and not moving or "scooting" the stand too often, it should last a good while.

Yes, they even sag without anything in them. The presswood cannot handle the weight and the hinges supplied are also too small to hanlde weight.

It does kind of scrape the bottom if the doors are full. But if you pull it up as you open and close the doors it won't. I can't see that it's doing any damage. I still think it's a great product, but if that's a deal breaker for you than maybe look into some other items.

I just put this together recently but the doors do not sag at all at this point (I have them all the way full) I saw that people had problems with the hinges ripping out so I used wood glue for the hinge screws, so far so good but I am being careful when opening and closing the doors, since it is made of partical board

Mine have not yet began to sag, what I did do however, was after assembling it, I loaded it and then adjusted the hinges, I also put some wood glue behind the hinges as additional stability, after lining everything up, it looks really good and quite striaght, I have only had the unit about two months, in this time all is well.

No, the doors are very sturdy!! It's difficult for them to close if there are too many dvds protruding from the dvd crevice though.

I filled mine up all the way and have no sagging. maybe over time but the hinges are adjustable. so if it sags over time then you just adjust the hinges again.

I have my cable box, cable modem for TV, phone and internet, DVD player, PS2, and PS3.

Maybe it could be arranged to fit more. I have a cable box on the first shelf, DVD recorder on the second shelf and the third shelf is free, so a game system could fit there, if you wanted it to. Plus, if you needed to, you could fit something on each end of the console.

We have a full-sized DVD/VHS player and a TiVO machine on the top shelve, and below it we have the Wii system plus two stacks of games and the controllers. We only have the one console system, but there's plenty of room for it.

I have my satelite box on top shelf and Xbox 360, wii, and ps3 side by side on bottom. I took one shelf out and stood the xbox and wii on their side and all 3 fit nicely.

The description states:

That means the entire center area is 18" across the front, 14" front to back, and 19" high. It comes with 2 adjustable shelves to position where you like within that cubby space. Just measure your consoles and do the math

We have our cable box, dvd player and some other items on the shelves. We keep our PS3 on top because we've had one overheat before and the shelf is pretty enclosed. Our Wii is too tall for the shelves so that, too, is on top.
