Lee Child is the pen name of Jim Grant. He was born in Coventry, England in 1954. After being laid off in 1995 as a result of corporate restructuring, he decided to write a book. The Killing Floor won the Anthony Award for Best First Novel and became the first book in the Jack Reacher series. In 2012 the first motion picture feature of Jack Reacher was released staring Tom Cruise.

Reviews

Review by Library Journal (2000-03-01)

Former military policeman Jack Reacher is back, and his new case is a real stretch. Women are being killed who have nothing in common--except that they knew Reacher when they worked for the military.

Review by Library Journal (2000-06-01)

Child's Jack Reacher series has improved with each successive book, of which this is the fourth (following Tripwire). A serial murderer is on the loose, killing women across the country in the same bizarre fashion: there are no fatal wounds on the corpse and no evidence or clues. Other than the killer's unknown method, the only thread tying the victims together is that they have all served in the military Dand they all knew Reacher.

What is the motive? What is the murder weapon and manner of death? How does the killer gain entrance to the heavily secured homes of these fearful and suspicious women? Why is each corpse immersed in a tub full of paint? Reacher, the archetypal loner/wanderer, seems more domesticated here, although he fights powerfully against it. With numerous plot twists and turns, Child puts Reacher through his paces brilliantly, arriving at an unusual solution. Highly recommended for all public libraries. . DFred M. Gervat, Concordia Coll. Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5★ by 4reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Lee Child, character Jack Reacher series totally fantastic, I read a Lee Child book at the back of the series months ago and it was (to me) so/so - then I decided to try another and went to the beginning of the series - I am so hooked = the first book Killing Floor - so fabulous and I've carried on w/the series, this book being the 3rd from the beginning. Get it - really a good book but consider starting at the beginning of the series, is my recommendation. 10/26/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Jack Reacher is an oddball, a man with so much talent and heart, but who just takes it to highways and byways and always rescues the damsel in distress, or solves the mystery, and gets the bad guys and gals. This one was heartbreaking for me, but for Reacher, it was what he needed to survive.Who he is and what he does is more entertainment than one person should get from a fictional character, but that is what it is all about, yes? Lee Child writes a page turner that keeps me up all night, until I get to the outcome. And then I want to start the next adventure right away. Lee Child does not fail to deliver Jack Reacher, and I am in love with the author's work and the fictional character he has created in Jack Reacher.I could go on but you get the idea. 02/16/2011
