Great Book for Grandson. I bought the 2 books for my grandson for his birthday. He's been reading more than I've ever seen him read before. 05/18/2011
Great Storyline It was slow in the beginning but after a bit you begin to truly get interested. It has fantasy like Harry Potter but plunges into it eve deeper than they ever went. I really enjoyed this book! Any age could enjoy it. 12/06/2008
Interesting read I sent this to a nephew, then decided to read myself. Wanted to check out what I just sent, it was good, reading through the second one now to keep up with my nephew. it says ages 8-12 but he is already having his dad read it to him and he is 5. I think it was a good buy, kid is enjoying it, so far the second one is good too and now I think I will have to periodically send him the next book so he can get the whole set eventually. 01/19/2011
Entertaining and Unique I was really skeptical of this series because I tend not to like a book when someone tells me, "It's like Harry Potter, but different." Haha! I don't like copy-cat books much. But after a good friend recommended it to me, I had to give it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised! The idea was really interesting, and it didn't actually remind me of Harry Potter in the slightest. It kept me reading until the end, and I wanted to read the next book when I was finished. The only qualm I have is Brandom Mull's writing style. He has this passive way of relaying a story that can be really tiresome after a while. It's hard to explain. You don't really get into the book as much as you could because the characters' emotions are written so drily. Maybe that's just me. 11/10/2009
