Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

Tony Award nominee David Suchet reprises his celebrated role as Hercule Poirot In "Agatha Christie's Poirot: Classic Crimes Collection - an exclusive anthology of four brand-new A&E original films. Artfully adapted from Agatha Christie's famous mystery series, each multi-million dollar production features a top-notch cast, stunning settings, and , of course, enough murder and mystery to test the mettle of our inimitably beloved Belgian sleuth. The "Classic Crimes Collection" features the following four brand-new Poirot movies. "The Mystery Of The Blue Train" - Poirot travels on the famed Blue Train to the French Riviera, where he meets a motley collection of socialites that include the beautiful Ruth Kettering and her American oil magnate father, Rufus Van Aldin. Ruth is accompanied by her scoundrel of a husband, Derek, and her lover, La Roche. It's an unhealthy situation at best, but it gets much worse when Poirot discovers that one of Ruth's men has turned up dead. "Taken At The Flood" - Mystery surrounds a young woman after her new husband is killed in the London Blitz, but with the discovery of new information, Poirot wonders about her true motives. "After The Funeral" - When Richard Abernethie, head of the dysfunctional Abernethie clan, dies, his sister Cora drops a bombshell--she believes Richard was murdered. Poirot is summoned to look into Cora's charges, but his investigation is interrupted when Cora is herself killed, leaving Poirot with two murder cases on his hands. Geraldine James and Robert Bathurst star in the latest installment of one of the most successful mystery series in TV history. "Cards On The Table" - One of London's richest and most mysterious men, Mr. Shaitana, invites Poirot, the crime writer Ariadne Oliver, two of Poirot's fellow sleuths, and several others to his sumptuous apartment for dinner and bridge. But the evening takes a deadly turn when the host is found stabbed through the heart, and the four sleuths must find the killer in the crowd. Zoe Wanamaker, Alexander Siddig, David Westhead, and Robert Pugh costar.

Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Excellent Video Collection. These were very well done, and the actor makes a very good Hercule Poirot. It is tough to take the amazing books of Agatha Christie and put them on film, but these do do justice. Would recommend. 03/31/2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loved the movies! Great Agatha Christie Poirot movies. Have not seen these on A&E. Great Buy! 11/18/2010
Rated 1 out of 5 by horrid Classic Crime Collection. It's certainly a collection of crimes. Against Agatha Christie fans, that is. Her stories were best sellers because she wrote good stories. Whoever OK'd the adaptation of 'Cards on the Table' should OK the return of my money. I will never buy another A & E adaptation of Agatha Christie's classics. I was looking forward to 'Curtain', but now I think i will give it a miss, just in case it is this bad. The other movies in this collection, 'The Mystery of the Blue Train', 'Taken at the Flood' and 'After the Funeral' were disappointing in some ways, but not terrible. Compared to other Poirot collections, this one is the one to miss. I can only hope time will erase the memory of it. 03/31/2013
