Rated 2 out of 5 by Caligurl76 This machine stinks (literally)!!!
I love that this machine is so easy to use BUT from day 1, it has stunk. The smell from the water tank is so strong and smells like plastic is burning. I just thought it would wear off but I have had it for a couple months and I use it every day and it still smells horrible. I have also noticed that the espresso is very bitter, which I don't mind. But I tasted the same espresso from another machine and it wasn't bitter. So, I exchanged it at Walmart, and the new one stinks too!!! I am returning it for the last time and buying a different brand.

I really like this product, i bought it based on price and good reviews. It was the very last one at walmart so it must be good! I was a little skeptical cause it was so cheap but i tried it out and its so easy and works great, no problems. coffee is hot , milk steams great. at first i thought the steamer thing could have been longer but then it works fine you just gotta get used to it
Rated 4 out of 5 by Purplebaby Doesn't come with milk pitcher :(
So, it doesn't come with the metal milk pitcher that is needed to foam/froth milk for your drinks....other then that, so far so good! I just made a quad shot iced mocha using 3 tbsp of cream since I didn't have the pitcher to foam the milk and it turned out really well, brewed quickly...my only concern is the directions say that once your coffee is brewed to desired level, turn handle to foam the milk....there was very little steam left in the machine when I turned it that way to release any pent up pressure so I am not sure how well that will work for steaming the milk when I do go out and buy a pitcher.
Rated 2 out of 5 by hoyhoy Dead...again
Well, I picked one of these about 2 years ago and it worked great! I used it quite often. But just short of a year and out of the blue one day, my maker took 2x as long to make less then half the amount of espresso, I could still hear the water boil and see steam coming out the machine, but it just seem like it was working too hard. It never recovered after that. I do use the Brew Rite cleaner on it at least once a month. But I thought it was a fluke and found the price reasonable, so I purchased another one. And it's been almost a year... and guess what... EXACT same thing happen, out of the blue... TODAY! it worked fine on Monday!?! aaah well... maybe it was another fluke? maybe I'm doing something wrong? i use it no more then once a day, maybe 3-4 times a week. I like, but can't recommend it anyone else. live and learn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MokiLovesCheese Great Value
This is beautiful espresso machine. It has a large mouth so that it is easy to add water, and the lid has a large top with a grip so it is easy to screw open and closed. The only negative is that it can be a little difficult to lock on the basket/filter because you cannot easily see the underside where it attaches. But I am getting better at it. I only use it for making espresso, so I cannot comment on how well the milk steamer portion works for cappucino. This is my 3rd basic, plain-Jane espresso machine, and I like this the best of all of them.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Larebare Lasted 6 weeks
This Expresso Maker was fine for 6 weeks, but then the rotating power switch started to fail. It was intermittant at first, then failed completely. Since I already threw away the original box, I won't be able to return it for an exchange. I won't be purchasing Mr Coffee products again. It turned out to be a piece of junk.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Critic83 Okay Product

Rated 1 out of 5 by geopf not as good as Krups
does a very poor job frothing milk
Rated 1 out of 5 by nahemah Doesn't meet the description
I should have suspected that for that price, it couldn't possible do espressos... And it doesn't! For regular coffee it might work but I was looking for an espresso machine, and it will not do espressos independently of the quality of the coffee, it is the way the machine works that makes it impossible to make them. It also makes a mess to do anything - make the coffee or warm the milk. I return it to the store two days after I got, couldn't get there sooner...
Rated 1 out of 5 by Angela45 Waste of time
This machine makes coffee and bad coffee at that. It is steam driven so if you are trying to make espresso this machine cannot do that with steam. A pump driven machine is necessary in order to make any type of espresso. I don't know why they even call steam driven machines espresso machines they are coffee makers. I used it once and returned it.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Coffeeman10 Received broken shipment
I was extremely excited to receive this product after reading several good reviews about it online. One of the few negative complaints was the 'durability' of the handle on the 'filter holder.'
After getting all the ingredients from the store. I had it all set up. Put the water in, measured out the coffee grounds, went to connect the filter holder and of course, it's broken. I didn't break it, it came broken in the box.
So it's off to return it and wait for another one to ship.
Rated 1 out of 5 by PG45 no way
I ran water through this thing to clean it more than 30 times. I also tried cleaning the tank by filling it and shaking the water out. No matter what I did there was still crud floating in the water. It looked like plastic or wax. I am so glad I never brewed coffee and drank it. The tank is probably lead too! It went back and I do not want another one!
Rated 3 out of 5 by jgilk1 so its ugly its also 20X cheaper
so this is my third mr. coffee $20 (20-40) machine.. yes i have owned a super automatic that does everything for you... grinds, tamps, and dispenses. i also paid 20 times more for it (about $600) and it lasted just as long as my first mr. coffee about 2.5 - 3years if you make espresso 2-4 times a day (there's 2 of us that use it and we descale about every other month high mineral based water) (the repair was about 1/2 the price of a new machine)
pros: its cheap, it makes a decent cream, did i mention its under $40,
cons: the steam nozzle is fixed in place and doesn't rotate up, there is no on/off lever for the steamer or the drip so when the machines on there's water or steam coming out (the nice thing about a super automatic) which means you can heat up the water with out water comming out once it heats up, theres no way to quickly or conviently add more water
over all yes the machine is simple and there are a few things i would change overall but for $40 im not going to complain to much... i see a lot of reviews on this machine as well as other higher end machines of people complaining that it lasted them only a few months... what it comes down to is water has minerals in it and when you boil the water off the minerals remain calcium is the worse and this plugs up the machine...
every month or every other month i go through a process call descaling (which
super automatic takes about 2.5-3 minutes to make 1 cup of joe... this takes about 5-10 if your grinding your own beans although if your looking to make a second cup (thats 2-4 shots)
value and durability 4/5 bars and the reason is simple if you take care of it properly it will last...
looks/appearance 1/5 for ..honestly this thing isnt my cup of tea (pun intended)
Meets Expectations 2/5 yep although i find it a very durable cheap alternative to an all in 1 the steps leading up to having a cup of espresso are a pain
Rated 5 out of 5 by ddiaz Energizer bunny
I hope I don't jinx it, but this machine is like the Energizer bunny, keeps going and going. I've had it for about 4 years ( I don't use it every day) and it keeps making the best cappuccinos.
Rated 5 out of 5 Love this machine & read for frothing:)
I'm a huge sbux latte drinker. I've had my machine for almost 6 yrs and I make atleast 2 to 3 drinks every day and paid $35 and I'm buying another one today. I'm afraid to buy the new version of this model that has stainless steel on the front for $40. So I just found the one I have online at walmart for $36.54. The last month I'm finally started having problems with the seal on the water top. Seals do go after a while especially how many time I used it. I've been reading people's reviews about frothing and I've had no problems. Here's how I froth. I bought at wegmans a stainless steel pitcher for my milk and I also use a container thats a perfect height for it to stand on while steaming. The container I use as a stand stand is 4 1/2 inches tall, it's actually a empty 11oz. baking soda container. It perfect because you don't have to hold the milk pitcher. If you move the milk pitcher around in a circular motion while steaming for a few seconds to a minute it warms the milk up, then just let the pitcher sit on the container to finish steaming and you will start to see the frothing begin. I usually get about 3 to 4 inches of froth. If I didn't warm the milk like I stated above I don't get as much froth. I hope this helps with steaming. I also buy at starbucks their bottle syrup, I think the syrup is $8 and they will give you a pump to go with it. Then I buy their esspresso ground coffee. You can also by the sbux coffee grounds at wegmans but not the syrups. Enjoy your drink :)
Rated 5 out of 5 by sjblair4 Great Espresso Maker
This is the second one of these I've owned. Do not use the steam frother. If you do milk will get into the water reservoir. You will have specs of milk in the reservoir you will never be able to flush out. Trust me on this. I ruined one of these espresso machines making lattes using the built-in steam frother. Once milk specs gets in the reservoir you'll never get a clean espresso without milk specs in it.
Rated 5 out of 5 by GrammieB Perfect For Me
I am very satisfied with this espresso maker. It is easy to make my favorite Caramel Macchiato each morning. The milk frother works perfectly. Possibly the other bad reviews on the frother were because the person did not add more water after the brewing was done. I did this on the first try then figured out you had to add more water to make steam. The instructions fail to tell you this but the little glass pot actually has a steam water level marking on it! I am very happy with this purchase. Does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it as well as the more expensive expresso makers. Don't pass this maker by because of the few bad reviews.

This is the Best expresso machine I've ever owned!
Rated 5 out of 5 by happycamperks If you are considering - buy it!
I have made a latte everyday since I have gotten it and even tried a frappe last night which tasted amazing! It's a pain to clean, but worth it.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Artemus11 FROTHING TUBE COVER IS CHEAP AND BREAKS
There are a few drawbacks with this maker : 1) Hardware is incredibly cheap - the handle on the decanter actually split in two pieces - the decanter is a little awkward to place under the spout. 2) The frother cover is plastic (like a toy plastic - so don't take it off to wash it and have it drop on the floor - it's breakable). You have to remove that plastic item in order to clean the crud off the frothing tube which contains scalding milk residue after frothing. Then you have to slide that plastic back on and use it all over again. The thing is -- when plastic is heated by the scalding milk.. it weakens the hardware and yes - it cracks and breaks. Now.. try locating this extra piece. I had to make 3 phone calls because the Mr. Coffee Store does not even have an up to date service place . I then found out it would take SEVERAL weeks to receive this item.. and it would cost $8. REALLY? You think they could at least make a froth cover that was unbreakable -- this little item is good for a one night stand, and a few special occasions - however, I'll buy elsewhere next time. Just too cheap .
Rated 4 out of 5 by ferdi Makes good espresso
Very good for espresso, but like many other reviewers have said, it's not good for frothing, so it's not good for cappuccino. I find that the knob for selecting either coffee or froth is very hard to rotate. I'm using it for espresso only. I'm not unhappy with it, but a bit disappointed. I think that the reason it doesn't froth right is because the orifice is too large. I tried to make it smaller by inserting a small wire, but it didn't work.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ChiChi3578 I have really enjoyed this expresso machine!!!! And you can't beat the price, ($36)!!
Rated 4 out of 5 by grayfam8 Great Bargain for your money!
Looking for an espresso to make your coffee without paying 100's of dollars a month on your favorite Espresso stand. My wife uses this one usually during the Fall/Winter with egg nogg. This is probably the 5th one we have owned. Why the 5th? Well, after 3 or 4 months you need to clean it with Cafiza Espresso Machine Powdered Cleaner, not vinegar. Even after cleaning it for a year, after time it starts getting an after taste. After only paying $27.00, we pitch the machine and end up buying another. (Keep all your parts from your old one, they break and sometimes come up missing.) Still, you are saving a way bunch of money for a year's worth or more of your favorite espresso. One note, alway ways pour your espresso coffee immediately into your milk or cold beverage so your coffee doesn't burn. Then froth it and enjoy your coffee. Great product Mr. Coffee and thanks Wal Mart for carrying this product. ~Steve~
Rated 5 out of 5 by PLWalmartShopper GREAT!!!!
I bought this to start making blended mochas at home. It was SO much cheaper than all of the other espresso makers I was looking at - so much so that I thought "eh, I wouldn't be wasting that much money if it didn't work...." This thing ROCKS! I have saved a ton of money already and I prefer my blended mochas to Java Detour/Starbucks/Pete's/anybody.
This is a great little machine that looks good on the counter. My husband and I use it several times a day. Easy to clean too.

Heats much faster than my old Krupp's one did & froths the low fat milk easily. I use it 2x every morning.
