Book Information

The following content was provided by the publisher.
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban's backyard

Anyone who despairs of the individual's power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan's treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools?especially for girls?that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson's quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, "Three Cups of Tea" combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time 4.8 5 6 8
Good Book Three Cups of Tea is the type of book that everyone should read. You are amazed at the way that some people live, and awed at how some people have the capacity to give. It also shows you how complicated the world really is, and yet how similar are the needs and wants of people. The author has been on television telling about the inexpensive way that children can be educated for the first time in some countries. 08/28/2010
Amazing Story Mortensen, the man that this book highlights, is almost too amazing to be real. This book will inspire you to be a better person, and to reach out to the less fortunate. 12/12/2008
