Great companion book to Story of the World Vol. 1 I already own the book Story of the World Vol. 1 by Susan Wise Bauer. The aforementioned book tells a brief history of Ancient times in story form. Each civilization is covered. The subsequent volumes cover later periods of history. the stories are short, engaging and contain enough detail to give the reader a basic grasp of world history. (It does include some Israelite history including Abraham and Moses.)I felt that just reading the stories to my children was not enough to help them remember what we were learning. This companion activity book includes narrations questions; sample narrations; extra books that can we use to supplement each chapter; reproducable worksheets, coloring pages, and maps; and hands on activities and projects.We've had great fun doing the activities that are suggested in the book. My kids remember much more and are loving their history projects. Today we built an Assyrian siege tower out of lego.These books are suggested for grades 1-4. I have also downloaded a pdf version of the student pages from peace hill press website as trying to photocopy out of the book was very difficult. I paid $7.95 from the website to download the pdf. Makes life much easier. The activities and extra resources are NOT included in the downloadable pages. You must have this activity book to gain access to those.I did not purchase the tests and answer keys book which is also available as I don't really see the point of testing my children. I feel like I can tell well enough if they remember something and we review often.Be aware that if you get the revised edition story book you also need the revised addition activity book. It should say on the front cover.The price at Walmart was a few dollars cheaper than amazon including shipping. Product arrived in a timely manner and in great condition. 03/07/2012
