Rated 5 out of 5 by 1reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Book The book Code Talkers was a great book about a Navajo Indian child that has to go to a boarding school, and end up fighting in war. At first he doesn’t want to go but he has to because it is his family’s tradition. As he went through his school years he was taught how to speak English if they spoke any Navajo at all they would get whipped. The only time they could speak Navajo is when they were all alone in their rooms. When he was high school aged he was enlisted in the army. He never thought he would never have to be in the army. In the army he and his friends helped the army to make up codes to keep the enemy guessing. After he got out of the war he never told his grandchildren about what he went through before the war until he wrote this book. I though the book was very good but the language I wasn’t pleased with at all, but I guess you can’t read a war book without having some language in it. The part that I thought was the best part is when he has to face his fears and go to the school that he has to go away from his family from. The amount of courage that he showed when he went was spectacular. I could never muster up enough courage to go to that school and not come back for a long time. The story shows that you can do what ever you want to do as long as you never give up on your self. The book I think is very good for anyone who enjoys war novels. The book takes place during WW II. So anyone that is interested in learning how the Navajo code came about you would really enjoy this book. 12/04/2007
