It isn't the first high-octane remix of its kind, but Disney has completely outperformed themselves with this most recent effort. Some of today's hippest young artists including Everlife, Jesse McCartney and the Cheetah Girls shake up classic Disney movie tunes and the result is a twisted set of tunes from The Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp and The Lion King to name a few. Not to be confused with those much-loved songs that bring us back to our childhood, this remix maintains a touch of nostalgia while introducing some serious spice.
Baha Men take you on a whirlwind of a ride in "It's A Small World." The song doesn't lose its original happy-happy charm, but a generous touch of reggae creates a beat that's contagious and catchy. Climb aboard, grab a seat and watch your footing. At this stage vertigo is normal!
The meek and mild "Bare Necessities" sheds its gentle jungle image, trading it in for one that's more pumped and gritty. The well-known lyrics keep the song on track, but performers Bowling for Soup add enough boogie to generate a new flavor of jungle fever.
Similarly the Duff girls (Hilary and Haylie) strut to "The Siamese Cat Song." With backs arched and tails twitching the duo adds an exotic tone to the original Lady and the Tramp tune. A deep funk and groove breaks into the mix before the cats return to their sarcastic residence of Siam.
Not designed to replace what Disney perfected long ago, Disney Remix Mania is the creative answer to an energized generation. Join Sky Sweetnam, Ashanti, Smash Mouth and others as they give you their version of Disneymania. You're never too young or too old to catch the hype!
