Customer Product Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by 1reviewer.
Rated 3 out of 5 "inspired by the book's incidents in flashback This made-for-TV (2005) for the A & E cable network is quite dramatic but a bit blurred as far as whether John McCain was tortured throughout by his Naval Academy fellow students and by the Viet Cong (five or so continuous years) - - it is also a confused dramatization as far as whether he was detained by Chinese or Japanese ethnic persons - - by the way he has gone the "second mile" to try to regularize channels of trade and communication from the U.S. side of the Pacific to the socialist government of Vietnam (capital Ho Chi Minh City) since the 1990s or so. The film is also a bit confusing as to the family he's separated from and the age of his daughter Sidney (by first wife Carol). I was glad for the DVD extra of an afterword by the actual John S. McCain himself. The actor playing his dad doesn't have a lot to do and we are left wondering about whether he really has gotten "faith" so much from his father and grandfather and more from those who were more demonstrative and committed to him (his Mom who is still living in 2008 as well as the family that he remained separate from to maintain the "honor code" of first in , first out of the Prison "Hotel"). 09/06/2008
