Flowers In The Attic - Book Review

In Flowers in The Attic, written by V. C. Andrews; Carrie’s Dollangers beloved father dies, she and her three siblings are forced to live with their grandparents in the attic of their mansion in Virginia. The kids live in secrecy, with only their mom and grandma knowing they are up there. In the attic their Grandma comes to them and gives them food and water; she is a devote Christian and has really strict rules for keeping genders separately in the bathroom and where they sleep. On the first day Carrie and her siblings go up to the attic, their Mom assures them that it won't be long because her dad is on his death bed. As two weeks slowly go by, they learn by their mother that their grandpa forgave their mom, and is put back into the will, leaving her millions when he passes away; that will make her one of the wealthiest women in the world and will make it able for them to stop living in secrecy. As months go by, they later learn he's off of his death bed and is making a miraculous recovery. After hard decisions, pain, and disgust they will begin to unwind a plot twist. The book was great! In the book you felt everything: the bone-chilling wind, the disgust, and a death. It was a nail-biting thriller at some parts, and a bone-chilling eye-opener at others. Although the ending, I would recommend this book to others; I loved it! The writing was exquisite, and complex; the way the author describes some parts actually make it feel like I was in the attic with the Dollangers: don’t forget, the deceitful Grandmother is watching.
