    Awesome Futon!!
    8/12/2010

    Customer review by wackeytiger

    5.0 stars by wackeytiger

I really love this futon. It's comfortable, affordable, and looks great! I was worried while reading other reviews b/c they said it wasn't sturdy. When I received it, I realized why. The spacers you use are too deep, so the screw barely goes into the futon itself. I decided to not use the spacers at all and placed door shims (available at Ace Hardware for under $5) in that area instead. This has worked great and we've sat way more than 300 lbs on it. Definitely recommend!

We put the sofa in our den as an extra bed and so far everyone loves it. I hope it holds up for years to come. I took the suggestion of another review that said not to buy the cloth because it attracts dust. I have 3 big hairy dogs and this sofa is holding up against them.

Very Modern Look at a Walmart Price

I was very concerned about buying not only one but two for my front room. With all the cost associated with a move into a 1st home, I wanted to stretch my Furnishing dollars as far as possible. When the Sofa Sleepers arrived (via Site to Store) I was seriously impressed with their look and feel, they could easily charge $100 bucks more. Thats why I love Walmart.com.

    • When unassembled in a box, it could fit in the trunk or back seat of a compact or midsize car. After assembly it could easily fit into an SUV if you remove the legs and fold it.

I have purchased about 10 futons from Walmart 5 months and 5 were with wood leg and they fell apart completely, the 5 metal ones that are purchased stayed together.
    by PaxtonG 4/4/2011
    • These are metal, but the back legs are screw-in legs. Would seem a little unstable, but we don't use it for every day use.

    • The back legs are two plastic legs. The front legs are a u-shaped bar that create the legs. I am not entirely sure of the compostion of this bar, but I belive it is wood (wrapped with synthetic material).

I am reading the specs in the description and it shows: 71.0 x 41.0 x 6.5 I find it hard to believe that it is only 6.5 inches tall? I believe the dimensions are probably for the box being shipped unassembled.. I need the full assembled dimensions. PLEASE PLEASE HELP... Stuck in a NY Studio with LIMITED SPACE and have to make every inch count EXACTLY.. Ideally I would like to know how wide it is opened and closed.. It looks like as most futons do, sit on an angle.. would love to have the exact width including the angle opened and closed.. I assume opened would be the size of a full size mattress.. but I have learned.. it's NEVER safe to assume.. Thanks for your help... anyone? anyone? bueller? bueller?
    by an anonymous customer 4/13/2011
    • It sits about 15 inches off of the ground. It is very low. See the picture in my review.

    • Ok..I don't have a tape measure but the 6.5 inches maybe referring to its height from the floor? When "folded" up...its like about the size of a small couch...like bigger than a love seat but slightly smaller than a full size couch. It is NOT bulky though because its not plush..its clean and contemporary lines make it fit well in a small space. It has multiple recline heights on each side which is cool also...when its laid flat..its full "bed" size. Hope this helps.

    • from the floor to the top of the seat it is 14 inches. from the floor to the top when it is sent as a couch it is 28 inches. 6 inches is the depth of the mattress. Other than that laid down it is 36 inches wide and 69 inches long.

    • In its highest position, from the top of the sofa to the carpet, its 30". From the front of the sofa, to the metal rail in the back (again with the back all the way up in couch position) its 33". If you put the backs down into futon mode, its 40". In futon mode, its 70" long and 40" wide. Hope this was helpful for you.

    • Yes, it really takes up very little space though I can't give you a confirmation on the measurements. But I think it is ideal for your NYC apt. As it is, I feel it is a little too small as your legs might run out of space once you lay on it.

    • 72" long, 41" deep, 13" tall when flat for a bed 72" long, 41" deep, 27" tall when seat backs are up -- the depth doesn't change because there are bars on the backside that the seat backs lay on when you make it a bed.

    • Mine is 71 (long) x 41 (wide) x 15 (tall) when it is in the bed configuration. In the couch configuration it is a bit less wide (33") and a bit taller (29").

    • Lets see here from floor to the higest point in sofa position it stands 2ft 5inch... In bed mode it is a twin and spands 3ft 4inch in width... In sofa mode width is 2ft 1 1/2inch... The futon is 5ft 7inch long. Hope that helps : )
