Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

From the moment "China Beach" debuted in 1988, with its iconic opening credits set to the Supremes' "Reflections" as its theme song, it was hailed as groundbreaking television. In an era of testosterone-driven war movies, "China Beach" delivered a unique perspective: the Vietnam War through the eyes of the women who served there! "China Beach" was the perhaps the best drama ever presented about the true horrors of the Vietnam War and its effects on the lives of the soldiers and civilians involved. Week after week, the war was brought front and center into American homes by master storyteller, John Sacret Young. This series focused on the extraordinary group of characters in this unique, exotic place where so many things came together - anguish and laughter, heroism and sacrifice, and the unforgettable music that was the backdrop to this era. "China Beach: Season 2" welcomes journalist wannabe Wayloo Marie Holmes (Megan Gallagher), who embarrassingly quickly finds her derriere dotted with shrapnel, and Private Frankie Bunsen (Nancy Giles), who, just like all the other characters, has to discover the surreal "China Beach" reality, and deal with the loss of one of their own.

Featurette: Voices of War: The Real China Beach, Interviews: Michael Boatman, Marg Helgenberger and Robert Picardo, Episode Commentary.

Customer Product Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5★ by 4reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5★ by no closed captioning No Closed captioning for the hard of hearing. Item returned without even viewing it.Very disappointing after waiting years for it's release. 01/07/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Quality BEACH Time After waiting for what seem liked an eternity, the DVD release of this highly acclaimed TV series proves that good things come to those who are willing to wait. After disappearing from network programming, this show was introduced into regularly scheduled programming on the History channel several years later, with added video commentary by actual veterans from the war. In my opinion, the amount of talent and hard work that went into producing this show is head and shoulders above all else that was released on the "military action" in Viet Nam. You can tell from the first episode how much attention was paid to ensure an historically accurate portrayal of the way things were back then "in country". No one can deny the performances given by all in this stellar cast was anything less than phenominal, as well as the creative and ingenius way the writers managed to incorporate the entertaining interaction between the characters in the cast. 03/25/2014

Rated 5 out of 5★ by A fantastic find...So Glad It's finally on DVD. After purchasing Season Two, I could not wait to get home to watch it. Season One was just as I had remember it and Season Two did not disappoint either. I do wish Close Captioning had been offered, for those that need it. The characters and their interactions, with each other was stellar. One will never forget McMurphy and KC and their love-hate relationship, for a long time. Jeff Kober's, Dodger and his lost vacant stare, from being out in the bush. Dr. Dick Richards' loss of a marriage and family, but his expertise in the operating room was remarkable. I have nothing but HIGH praise for this show and I am elated that it has finally made it to DVD. I can't wait for Season Three's release, lol... 03/30/2014
