Rated 4 out of 5★by Best bike under $150. I have researched online for weeks, and was looking to buy other styles of bikes, (cruisers, hybirds) before buying this bike on an impulse shopping at my local Walmart. When I saw the bike at the store it looked much nicer than in the picture. The front fork suspension is bright yellow giving a nice contrast and overall look. I had an issue with the first one, the tire blew up on my first ride, not sure if was properly inflated. Brought back to store and it was replaced with no problem. Guy even showed me how to tighten and adjust the brakes in the future.Simply put, although this bike is not a "professional" caliber bike, it certainly looks that it cost much more than 150 bucks. You won't find an aluminum frame, 21 gears, 29' wheels bike for this price. Not even at Walmart. I didn't have to put it together since they had about 3 of them already in display. I would recommend have it delivered to the store, and asked them to put it together for you. 05/14/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★by Great for trailing and road use-Not for hard MTB Hello Marter's, Jay here. First, a BIKE ALERT*** 700c tires are on this and all 29er bikes. They call them 29er's as a maketing term meaning they have FAT MOUNTIAN TIRES, not ( 1.6" or less wide road tires) and since I don't like disc brakes this is perfect. Second I ride trails and on the road alot and changed the tires to schwinn 28"-700c Kevlar road tires with 38c trail-road tread tires and it rides beter than the 2.1 MTB cheapo's tires it came with ( looked online at WAlmart.com and these tires and they only sell for about 10.00 each and there very thin inside, so any thing can make them go flat quickly. and sure enough...I Blew the rear tire on only, a city road in less than a week, so I decided to get good tires instead for it and bought the schwinn 700-28" kevlar trail-road tires, which I have on another bike and there GREAT TIRES FOR THE PRICE.( both schwinn kevlar 700c tires were under 40.00 bucks for two of them, and well worth it with kevlar protection tread!) With the new tires I have more control and can corner much faster too. I Like the sturdy feel of this bike ( I already own 2 other bikes) and the lighweight FRAME alot at THIS PRICE. You should always have a bike shop inspect your new bike for safety, before ever riding it in the street or hills riding..ALWAYS. I GO MUCH FASTER NOW with the better tires and since their a little thinner than mountian tires, can fill them to 65 psi to petal very easily. BUY A HELMET AND TWO LOCKS an a left sided mirror for saftey, PLEASE. This bike looks like it cost 400.00 and bike theifs will be watching you and your new bike, so lock it to something like a bike rack always ( DON'T LOCK A BIKE TO ANY VERTICAL PARKING LOT POLE OR THEIFS WILL JUST LIFT IT OVER THE POLE EVEN A 12' ONE AND JUST BRAKE THE LOCK LATER, BECAUSE IT JUST HAPPEN TO ME WITH A DIFFRENT BIKE AT A NEARBY MALL AND NOW I'M OUT 200.00 WORTH OF BIKE!!) . RIDE ON AMERICA and grab this one for medium to light duty riding..ENJOY YOURSELF...Jay 05/29/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★by Great Mountain Bike for the Price I purchased this mountain bike for $149, mostly because of the style of the frame, even though Walmart had a couple "technically superior" mountain bikes for sale for the same price point or cheaper. So I selected this Genesis GS29 for two reasons: it is 29" tires and 22.5" frame | AND | it is stylish and not tacky.I am a pretty good rider, but am not a big downhill rider, nor am I professional. I have gotten the bike to about 30mph so far. I can go through a really rough field trail through my neighborhood, hop two 8" curbs, and continue down a narrow, bumpy marsh like trail for a mile or so, before it turns into another mile of maintained gravel trail. I have gone on this ride several times a week now for the past month, and the bike has held up great so far. No chain issues, tires have held up AMAZING, and I'm about to switch the pedals for real mountain bike pedals (the ones that require special shoes). I also ride a 05' Fuji road bike with LOOK pedals and Shimano SH-r088l shoes, so I'm not new to cycling. So far maintenance wise I have tightened a few t hings up, and used white silicon spray lubricant on my chains, pedals, and derailleur. Any bike is going to require maintenance, though. Maybe I just got lucky with mine, though. 06/27/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by Very good bike - moderately priced So far I'm quite happy with this bike. I hadn't ridden in many many years so getting back into riding has been a bit slow, but I'm very pleased with the bike and it's features. It seems to be well made and is a good value. It's going to be a good bike for me for light duty use for relatively short rides. It may not stand up to long, dirt road usage that others may want to use it for, but for me it seems to fit the bill nicely. It came assembled when I picked it up at the store so after a quick review of features and a tire pressure check / fill-up, I was on my way 06/14/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by 50 years old, 220 pounds and I love this bike Went to Wal-Mart to purchase a different bike (27.5”) but they were out of stock. I was disappointed until I saw this one… the price was $75 cheaper than the 27.5” bike I wanted and I liked the looks. I have had to return bikes back to Wally World before so at check out I told the associate I would see her real soon if I didn’t like it. Once outside I rode around the parking lot to get a feel… so are so good. When I got it home I did adjust the gears some as it wouldn’t go through all 21 of them. My first real Mountain ride was on some intermediate trails and the handle bars kept coming loose. When I got home I used Loctite on them plus some black electrical tape… problem resolved. The real test was Moab Utah where we took a full day at the Bar M trail area and rode some AWESOME trails! The Bike is a beast and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a entry level unit that can handle both trails and road. Word of advice is to get extra brake pads, I would prefer this to have disc brakes but what do you expect for $150. Happy riding!!! 07/10/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by most comfortable bike i ever rode So easy to buy on line from Walmart return policy is so easy if I didn't like it but no need to use it 06/30/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by Great lower cost mountain bike Mountain bikes can get into the thousands of dollars, but being I'm not doing that kind of radical riding; this hardtail frame does great for me. The 29 inch tires are proving to be a little hard to find tubes for, but they can be ordered, also unless you have the leg length for the extra 3 inches to reach the ground having the proper seat height for your leg stroke can be a challenge. Over all I love the bike, and it is perfect for riding on the prairie. The decals were put on sloppy on one side but I don't even think about it now. 07/16/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★by Good bike for the price. I have been to Walmart a number of times to look at bikes and this one in particular. I also visited a bike shop looking at entry level mountain bikes. I purchased the bike this morning and went on a two mile ride with my sons...mainly on the road. I am 6' 2" and weigh 208 and the bikes fits me very well. It is comfortable and I am looking forward to riding on trails. I called a friend of mine and recommended the bike to him as well. 07/04/2014
