  • A. 9/16ths wrench worked the front axle bolts, a screwdriver [multi-head screws for the derueller stops], and allen wrenches [2 sizes I got through using SAE] and my front gear shift cable needed slack taken up [pliers/3/8'' fit looser than I'd like but did it, I'd use pliers or find a metric wrench], same for one of the brake cables. I'm used to derueller setups and the front tire, reflector, seat and bottle holder went right on, took about an hour.

  • A. It is easy if you have the proper size tools. (metric) If you have it shipped to a store, they are supposed to assemble it for you if you request, however.

  • A. It is very easy to assembly if you are familiar with tools. If you dont own any tools and never touch them then maybe you should have someone else put it together but there are no advanced technical skills needed.

This bike comes very well protected for shippind...takes longer to unpack and take the tape and cardboard off then it does to assemble bike!

  • A. It does NOT have quick release wheels, etc. You can view this as a good or bad thing. I view it as OK, because I don't need to take the wheels off in a hurry, and I don't want it to be easy for anyone else to take the seat or wheels. Plus, it keeps the cost down. To adjust the seat and handlebars, all you'll need are two allen wrenches, which should cost very little to buy. I saw a multi-purpose tool for bikes today for under six dollars.

Hello all! Here's my issue, i love the looks of the large gmc denali bike.. but the yellow and black only comes in large and medium...I'm 6'2", 250lbs... Not sure about my inseam but 32 fits me well in pants..34 are a bit too long... My question do I have to get the XL frame, or will the large frame works for me as well??...This bike will be my first, and I will use it to try and lose weight. Thank you in advance!!

  • A. If you're 6'2" and 250 lbs, in my opinion you need the 25" frame. Your height and weight mean you want the support of a big frame. If you get a smaller bike, I think you may put too much stress on the frame and over-extended seat post. I'm not an official expert, but when I was a teen-ager, I worked in a bike shop and assembled bikes and helped people find the right bike.

  • A. The large worked well for me. I'm 6'5 240lbs and 32 inseam. Don't think I'ld want it to be any bigger because I have to bend my back considerably to reach the handle bars.

  • A. You and I are both on the tipping point of which size to choose. I'm the exact same size, but 220 lbs. I went for the x-large and it fits me perfectly. My standover is clear by two inches. However, in the reviews for the large denali, there are guys our size who say they have no problems with the smaller bike. My experience: I barely get a full leg extension while riding this x-large size, and this is while wearing thin-soled five-toe shoes and the seat up almost all the way. I'm assuming with a large, I would be nowhere close to getting a full extension, which is what we want. Hope this helps!

  • A. Bike fit is not just a matter of the top tube height, but for sure you'll be able to raise the seat of the large size to the height you need.

  • A. The top of the top bar to the ground is approximately 33-5/8". When you stand over the bike with the top bar between your legs, there should be a minimum of 1" between the bar and your crotch with your shoes on. In my case, there is exactly 1" and my inseam is 34" It sounds like you may want the large model and not the extra large.

Great bike for the money

I bought this bike for my son who, after riding my $1000+ road bike few times, decided that he wants to ride along with me on my weekend rides. He's 15 and I did not want to invest a lot of cash in a bike that he might never ride much (like when he gets his license next year). The bike is sold at a great price!! It showed up 6 days after ordering it with free delivery. It needed a little assemble but it was not difficult even for the non-handy person. It was straightforward. I did change out the tires. The ones they come with are thick and therefore quite heavy and dragged the bike down a bit. They would be great for the commuter or casual rider though. I had some old thinner lighter tires that worked great. It would help to have some knowledge of how to tinker with the bike to repair it and maintain it. The brakes were a little offset from delivery and needed some adjusting. I'm amazed at how well the gearing is. Very smooth transfers. In the end, it rides great, my son loves it, I didn't spend a lot of cash on it, and his riding along with me now and is happy how it rides. :)

Just what I needed for an excercise bike

I wanted to add a little more detail to the reviews. This is an excellent bike especially for the money. My criteria was for a road bike for exercise, not competition. Some off the other reviews seemed to be giving confusing information. So here are my items: 1) I have a 31.75 inch inseam and the 25" bike is great. 2) The peddles are normal peddles and I use my running shoes with them and love it. 3) the shifting gears are different, but effective. having ridden it 8 times, I am very used to them and satisfied. 4) The seat is slightly padded. You will want proper biking shorts or underwear. Don't forget riding gloves. these help as well. 5) The Allen wrenches are normal. I used the ones I have had for years with no issue. 6) The shimono gear changer was slightly bent in shipping. A strong tug on it with pliers, returned it to the proper position and it is just fine. 7) The wheels were perfect right out of the box. 8) The riding position is comfortable. I'm 6'2", 253 lbs and it is just fine. Hopefully with a little more ridding I will be 220 again. :) I recommend and I would buy it again.

Great starting bike

I got this bike back in June as I had started riding bike trails with my friends, but being on a mountain bike while they were on road bikes ended with us going too slow. I got this to make sure I liked the drop handlebars and road biking in general and have fallen in love. After putting ~250 miles on this bike, I took it in for a full tune up, and then rode a 100K bike ride through the foothills of Colorado. This bike performed beautifully and while I wasn't necessarily in the shape I hoped to be in for the ride, the bike performed as well as I could have asked for the price. I wouldn't recommend this bike on a century or for anyone who wants to ride at 17+ mph consistently as the gearing and tire resistance are not designed for higher speeds, but for anyone starting off or not looking to be a speedster I highly recommend this bike (the tune-up helped significantly as well, still cheaper than almost any other bike tall enough for me at 6'4).
