In the title description it says, "1080p 60Hz 3D LED LCD HDTV". Which is it? LED or LCD?

  • A. Simple answer: This is an LED TV. This is a very common question because manufactures don't explain it very well. Here's my explanation if you interested: All "LED TV's" have LCD screens with LED backlighting. On older "LCD TV's" they used florescent lights to provide backlighting, which made the TV's thicker, uneven light distribution and didn't last as long. LED TV's use LED lights as backlighting, which use less power, last 100s of times longer, and have perfect light distribution. Many people believe that "LED TV's" don't have backlighting and there is no LCD screen, but that's not the case. Only "OLED" TV's generate their image without backlighting or LCD screen... but OLED TV's are THOUSANDS of dollars... you'd know if you were buying one.

  • A. All "LED" tvs are LCD. The LED part is the lighting element.

  • A. LED TV's are LCD. The LED's provide backlighting to the LCD display. That is why you see reference to LED and LCD in description. Some inexpensive TV models are just LCD with no backlighting.

  • A. all LED TVs are LCD, LED is the way they light the back of the panel, not the type of screen, LCD is the type of of panel they use (picture tube).

  • A. It is passive. You can get glasses at most retailers, on Amazon, or just go to your local theater to see a 3d film and keep those glasses. Passive glasses are way cheaper than active ones. I got a set of 12, including two childrens, for 20 bucks on amazon!

Fantastic TV!!

This TV exceeded my expectations for the price. It has crystal clear picture, and I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about the sound because it gets pretty loud. It is a very nice sized TV, there's no logo on the front, and it's overall decently thin. The screen is pretty glossy so if across from a window, it could potentially have a pretty bad glare. You have the ability to convert anything hooked up to the hdmi from 2D to 3D, but it would probably work much better with movies made for the 3D experience. You only get one pair of passive 3D glasses, would've been nice to get two. HDMI ports are on the side, but I haven't really had a problem with my cord sticking out. One downside is that the powercord is built into the back of the TV, so you definitely don't want to damage it since you can't readily replace it. All in all I love this TV and I think it was a great buy. Definitely a good value.

Was my only option in this price range for a large 3D TV. Went ahead and purchased the 4 year contract since I don't know this brand. The first one arrived with a purple discolored splotch on the screen with some vertical dark lines. Seemed to correspond with a dent in the packaging from shipping. I returned it to the store the same day and ordered another one online. Both times the shipping to my home was pretty quick. The 2nd one I turned on and the screen looked perfect. Enjoyed some 3D content on YouTube with my new Chromecast and my 3D Blu Ray Player. Seems as perfect as you can expect for such a low price! Like I said, I got the 4 year service plan since I don't know the brand and for a TV this price, the plan wasn't too expensive and overall still paid considerably less than any other 3D tv this size. Glad I got my replacement in time because at the moment I see they are now out of stock.

Exceeded Expectations! FANTASTIC 3D Picture!

This is my fourth HDTV, but it's my first 1080p or 3D tv. Let me first start off by saying that I absolutely love this TV! It's large, sleek, shiny, and absolutely fits in perfectly with my decor.I'm going to break down the features of this TV and review them each in turn. 3D Picture - The reason that many people will probably wan to buy this TV is for it's 3D capabilities, but they may have some reservations given the price of the unit. How can such a TV produce a good 3D picture? The answer to that question is very, very well. The screen produces pretty much the same fantastic passive 3d picture that the LG televisions that are twice (if not more) the price of this unit are capable of. I was blown away when I first fired up Finding Nemo 3D on this TV. I have noticed non of the loss of horizontal resolution that some people have claimed these passive 3D televisions produce. I have noticed that some fine diagonal lines have some stair-stepping effect on the edges, but that is also a known artifact in this type of 3D image. It's really not distracting through since I now have so much depth added to the picture. Other than that, the 3D bluray picture looks as good as the 2D on this TV. The set came with 1 pair of glasses, but that's not a problem as I already had two pairs lying around from my last trip to the movie theatre. The theatre glasses work great with this TV. The tv has a built in 2D to 3D converter that only works with the HDMI inputs. It works about as well as the conversion I've seen in any other 3D tv. You can't expect miracles, but some source material converts fairly well. Avatar and Pixar movies come to mind. It doesn't make things pop out of the screen, but actually adds greater depth in the other direction when watching 2D source material. It's not bad sometimes, but sometimes it just doesn't really work all that well. 2D Picture - Speaking of 2D, this TV also produces one very nice standard 1080p picture. It accepts the 1080p24 signal that I am feeding it from my bluray player just fine and looks incredible. Mind you, this is my first 1080p TV. Blacks look great and colors look good too. Nothing appears over-saturated. My only gripe is that the screen is glossy, so it reflects light from windows and lamps behind you while watching. It can be distracting Menus - The menus pretty much look just like the menus you would find on a Samusng TV. I have this sneaking suspicion that this TV was made by whoever manufactures Samsung sets. Could this be Samsung trying to make some money on the passive 3D market without looking like it's abandoning it's active shutter technology? Standard picture/sound settings. Advanced picture settings include dynamic contrast and noise reduction. I turn those off, but I did notice that the dynamic contrast was pretty similar to what you'd find on just about any tv these days. Remote- The remote pretty much resembles the kind of remote you'd get with a Samsung LED tv as well. Nothing missing here. I do wish that the 3D button was larger and more centralized. Came with batteries. Sound- The sound on this tv is nothing spectacular. It's what I've come to expect from a cheap flat panel TV. Not the worst I've ever heard, just not that great either. It doesn't bother me though because I have a sound bar and subwoofer hooked up, so I don't use the tv sound. I only had it going while I was setting the tv up. Inputs/outputs - I was happy to see that this TV has analog audio output as well as coaxial digital out. I won't be using the analog, but I like to see it on there for people like my mother-in-law who never upgraded to a newer digital sound system. Her new TV doesn't have them and it's causing her grief. There is also a headphone jack on the back. This TV also has separate component and composite video inputs which is very nice. My old LCD tv didn't have separate ones, so I had to either have composite or component hooked up separately and not both at the same time. There is also a VGA (PC) input as well as an input for computer audio. Three HDMI inputs is nice, especially if (like me) you have a audio receiver that has built in HDMI switching. It also has a standard Antenna/Cable input. I haven't tried receiving any over-the-air broadcasts yet, but the tuner does include QAM decoding which I was very happy to see. Design - The TV appears to actually be pretty well built. It really doesn't look or feel cheap at all. I am very impressed given that I spent only $339 on it. There is a shiny black 2" bezel going all around the screen. The screen is glossy too. Whether or not you like that fact is up to you. There is a single LED indicator light on the lower left corner of the bezel. It glows red when in standby (off) and blue when the TV is on. The stand is heavy duty enough to support this TV and does allow you to swivel the set a few degrees for adjustment. The set is very thin, but not paper thin. There seems to be adequate ventilation on the back, especially at the top, and the set hasn't gotten what I would call overheated. This is nice as I've seen older fluorescent type LCD TVs die from their back-light pretty much cooking the other internal components. Overall I think that this a great set! I am very thankful to have gotten such a nice TV at such a good price. I would recommend that anyone buying this pay the extra $39 for a Wal-Mart 3 year extended warranty. I did. I know nothing about this brand, so I figured that I am better safe than sorry. The TV comes with it's own 90 days Limited Warranty. The TV plus the extended warranty only cost me $400. For a TV this nice, that is an incredible price!

Well . . . this is my second attempt at buying this TV. The first one had the left half of the screen totally black, so i thought this was an isolated case and decided to give this another try. WRONG! The second TV was exactly the same. . . . what a disappointment!!! I hope the pictures i attached to this review come through. Re-packing and taking back to Walmart.

Got this because of the price and wasn't expecting much. Man is the picture great for a no name TV. The 3D works beautifully. My former TV was a Samsung and that remote works for it, so I didn't even need to reprogram my cable box remote. The speakers are alright (not the greatest sound in the world, but will do fine). The 2 photos I included were the TV in the box and the TV next to my old 32' Samsung TV.
