Customer Product Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5★ by 54reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Good Deal for the $ suspension is well designed and works, shifts well, uncomfortable seat (replaced with Bell soft tech part#1008555) handles great, good off road capabilities (this is not a $900 cannondale or trek) but for the money you cant beat it. 06/03/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★ by awesome great choice awesome great choice never had an issue with mongoose great item for the money but the only issue i had was the color i wanted the blue or the red one but both 2x i received the gold matted one, i think is the color of this bike i tried several stores and the issue was the same so i settle for this flat matted gold color or what ever color it isbut overall still an awesome bike for the money 01/07/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Great bike for the price point Pros-Economical, easy to use, good bike at the price point, good dual purpose bikeCons-Awful seat, chain can slip off, mediocre suspensionI am using this as a dual purpose bike, it's adequate for the recreational use that I need it for. It went together easily, and only needed slight adjustments to the front and rear brakes.I feel the saddle (seat) should be broken in some already but the seat is awful. On an 8 mile ride it was just brutal. I'm going to upgrade the seat and get padded shorts to help cure the issue. The price is good for what you get and quality is on par or better than others in this price range. It's also a little lighter due to aluminum frame vs. steel. If you want a road bike then look elsewhere. This is not a bike that I would use on 20 mile rides daily. But the occasional 10 mile trip and 5-6 mile trips on the weekend is where this bike will shine. Can't wait to get to the state park trails and give it some use while camping and kayaking. The chain occasionally slips off of the drive gear if adjusted too far but readjusting the shifter will allow it to ride back on the drive gear. I haven't had any issues on the driven gear. 06/26/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great buy for the money. Good features I read through a few dozen reviews and was on the fence. There were people who mentioned broken pedals and some other issues that seemed common. However, I bought this bike from my local Walmart about 3 weeks ago and have put about 75 miles on it. This review is based on that experience. The brakes are fair to good. If there's rain in the forecast, count on very minimal braking ability and give yourself more room to stop. The quality of the bike is good, but it is heavy. I am 220 pounds and have had no problems with pedals breaking or other design flaws. The only downside specific to my bike is the person who built it didn't adjust the front derailer correctly. It's extremely difficult to get to the "big ring" (tallest gear, or biggest sprocket).Speaking of sprockets, if you're buying this bike to race on flats, then you'll find the gearing too short. If you're planning on doing more hills, then you will like the shorter gearing on this particular mountain bike. My previous two mountain bikes could hit 18mph with taller gearing, but you'll never hit that speed on this bike (unless serious downhill or hurricane-strength tailwind). Flipside is I can stay on the biggest front sprocket on my uphills I encounter everyday. On my past two bikes I would have needed to drop from the biggest front, to 2nd biggest. I have had no issues with shifters breaking as other reviewers mention.Suspension is entry level quality so don't expect perfection, but you can tell it's absorbing bumps. The bike is def heavier than my last two mountain bikes, but this should be expected with a suspension system (which my other 2 didn't have). The paint and finish are very nice. I've had several people comment about how much they like the bike's appearance. No problem with the seat changing position or height, but if you really turn the seat you will get it to rotate (while clamped). I'm one of the rare people who read manuals and you can learn a great deal of how to maintain your bike from the owner's manual. I've already adjusted the bike and lubed the chain after riding in the rain. The manual provides a nice maintenance schedule if you are going to be riding a lot and want the bike to stay well-maintained.I would buy this bike again and recommend it. Only downside, and I've mentioned it twice already, is this bike is pretty heavy. 08/19/2014
