For about $20, you get a 3 amp jigsaw with two blades. Trigger is on/off only, no variable speed. Documentation/instructions are a nightmare and horribly written/laid out. Only accepts one type of blade, be sure you know this when purchasing. What makes this deal less than stellar is that you can get a good entry level 5 amp Black and Decker jigsaw WITH variable speed, accepts either blade type, and keyless/tool free blade change for $25.

Worked great for what I needed. If it was something I was constantly borrowing and wishing I had, I may have gone with a more expensive, better built one. However, for an "every now and again" tool, for $18, I must say, I am impressed. I had no problems with the insertion of the blade. I found the instructions rather clear. I might even mess around and get creative. lol :) Work my way up to a fancier one. For now, as a learner, it'll do just fine.

I used thiis saw for the first time today and it operated very well. There is a hex key included to change/remove the blades and there is a rubber sleeve on the chord to contain the key between uses. The hex key broke in half while tightening the blade in place on the first use. Other than that, the saw works just fine.

How to install the blade? This is very unclear, and there are no diagrams. What two hex screws?? Where to insert the blade? I struggled for a half hour, watched some youtube videos, and I still have no idea. Help?

    • A. Between the clear plastic blade guard there are slits, take the hex screw wrench from the cord and loosen those two hex screws just enough for the blade to slide in the opening. Make sure the teeth on the blade are turned outwards from the saw ( you will be pushing it, so teeth out away from you when in use). Tighten the two screws, (not too tight you strip them out or break your hex wrench). Carefully pull down on the blade, tighten as needed. Make sure blade is resting in the blade wheel and stays there as you tighten.

    • A. this machine is a piece of garbage. i had the same problem, but finally figured it out. 1. find that little L shaped tool attached to the cord. 2. insert it thru the slots in the shield in front of the machine [or you can slide the shield off] 3. loosen the 2 bolts behind the shield by turning left [but not too much or the bolts will slip out, tiny parts will roll out which you will have to search for, and then you will have to reattach the thingamabob]. [the bolts may be very tight] 4. then, jam the blade in as far as you can, tighten the bolts back up, and make sure the blade is secure. [5.put the shield back on if you removed it. you dont want to trust this 'machine'. i can't even cut foam rubber with mine!]

    • A. my advice is to return this and get a Black and Decker. The two hexnuts face the front of the cutting assembly and are found under the clear plastic. You have to reach through the slits to loosen the hexnuts, slide the blade in, then tighten them. Make sure your blade rests against the roller when cutting or you will bend the blade and possibly the blade holding assembly. Extremely poor design.
