Rated 2 out of 5 by joebro29 Great but..........
Well my first windows phone. Loveing the operating system, and the ease of use. unlike android I can see Windows giveing apple a run for its money. My problem with this phone is the one i got the SD card reader never worked-- no real biggie. But last night while on a call, the phone dropped signal immediately, looked at phone and noticed said no sim card-- i did not drop it or anything, had it right in my hand. called tmobile this morning. after an hour and a half of inserting/ takeing out/ re inserting sim card they asked me to send my phone in and they will check to see if its the phone or possibly the sim card. the phone is 3 weeks old
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rcast32 Great starter smart phone for beginners.
Great smart phone for people new to using smart phones, low budget or kids who play on your cellphone. Got this smart phone at Walmart because they had it a good price. Has many of the same features found on more expensive iPhones' or Android phones. This is a Windows Phone that has Internet access, built in camera, many apps to do many things as the others smartphones, including voice calling, navigation apps, game apps, social, news, movie apps, etc. The features I like are; 1. I can answer phone when phone is locked, 2. Can speak with someone while using Internet, 3. I can give my phone to my niece using a special screen just for kids and not worry about her erasing important info on my phone. Only small disappointment is there is no front camera for video calling. You have to use the rear camera for that. Overall, the features, functions and price makes this a good deal.

I traded an Android phone for this one, because it was half the price. It is a good smart phone, but didn't meet all of my expectations. I can't get all of the apps i had on my Android, and the features are not user friendly. The Android took one one day to get familiar with everything on the phone and figure out how to use it all. The Nokia took about three days. It is worth it for the money, but just be prepared to have to read the users manual to know how to use this phone.
Rated 1 out of 5 by kleedo2 Never got to use
I was asked to enter my address before ordering to see if coverage was available in my area. I was told yes the service was available at my address so I went ahead and ordered the phone online as a birthday gift for my daughter. Shipping was fast and activation was simple but sadly after activating the phone and powering it on a no service signal popped up. Called customer service and they were absolutely terrible to deal with! No help at all. I had to return it. Very disappointing experience for both myself and my daughter.
Rated 5 out of 5 by GoldenGophyr Easy to use right out of the box
Purchased this as my first smartphone to replace an old phone on my T-Mobile Family Plan. Used the new sim card that came with the purchase (old sim card is different and would not fit), went to the my account website, logged in, clicked on new sim card, and within two hours my phone was up & running. The next day spent a couple of hours "playing" with Windows to understand the apps and could navigate well setting up what I needed (bluetooth, email, storage, home wi-fi, defaults).
Have always liked Nokia phones and this one is no exception. If you want the latest & greatest you may want to look elsewhere, but for a great value and eaze of use, you will like this one.
Rated 5 out of 5 by dsp399 From Android to Windows Phone
Android is nice but it keeps getting more geared toward kids and games. I wanted a phone that was more geared toward business like Blackberry back in the day. This is the bottom of the line with Windows Phones but has a ton of features. I love that it is compatible with all of my other windows pcs and devices. I can transfer files between the devices and even read and edit word documents. I am also very pleased with the build quality. I have two complaints, though. There is no flash on the camera and the Windows store is still young and doesn't have as many apps as the other operating systems. Other than those two complaints, this phone has far exceeded my expectations, and the price is unbelievable for this quality of device.
Rated 5 out of 5 by JellyToast It's like having a laptop phone all in 1
The Lumia phones are based on Windows 8. The face of the phone is where you get to choose app Squares. You can choose so many options. I have Facebook, my contacts list which can sync with your Facebook, Google and Hotmail. You only have to touch the app Square and it opens. your phone will open and you choose a key pad to enter numbers, a phone book with contacts already entered and a search to quickly go to contacts...push M to go to names which start with M etc. You have a message SMS app, Internet Explorer, Maps, camera, video and photo storage. The camera is awesome and now does panoramic pics as well as black & white or specialty colors. I use the alarm to make sure we are in the car to meet the school bus. I use the calendar to enter dr. appointments, birthdays and bills that must be paid by a certain day. I love the weather channel app so I can plan ahead for upcoming events and outings. I use the Maps feature when I am on vacation and need a GPS. I can easily take photos and send them to my family across the USA. If you can use a laptop...this is the perfect phone for you.
Rated 5 out of 5 by SpJo Lumia 521 a good mid level windows 8 phone
I had a windows 7 phone (Lumia 710) and liked it. But, text message fonts could not be changed to a larger font and were hard to see. No slot for a SD card.
So, I ordered this Lumia 521 Windows 8 phone. The fonts in Windows 8 can be changed. It has a slot for a SD card. The camera is little better than the Lumia 710. The video camera is pretty good, records in HD.
The Lumia 521 does not have a flash. I only used the flash in the previous phone as a flashlight so no great loss.
Overall for the price, I am satisfied.
Rated 5 out of 5 by txnanna Awesome phone for the price. I have only had it a short time, but I am impressed with the features and hardware on this phone. Can't beat it for the price.
Rated 4 out of 5 by windowsman Suprisingly good!
Has a lot of cool features and apps built in. miss a flash on the camera and a front facing camera, if these were added this would be a AWESOME phone especially for this price.
has an app to transfer all your contacts and texts from your old phone via blue tooth. can take burst and panorama pictures. large display and it is bright and light weight in hand. Has micro SD slot unlike my old windows phone which just relied on skydrive.
All in all I am happy right now and hope to continue to be happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joe3Putt Hands Down Best Value for Smartphone & Plan
Previously, in the no contract, value category, you would only see old phones, clearance items, Pantec junk with small screens and qwerty keyboards. Or a few cheap Droids; loaded with Android versions from 2 years ago that cannot run the new droid apps.
Win8 has been great so far. No crashes or issues. Data speed has been decent on ATT. Apps are a bit short, but considering this is built on the worlds largest Ecosystem (Windows), the Apps will come. Easy synchronizing with home laptop and definitely looking forward to portable xbox games.
Bottom line. For no contract and a great price, this deal is hard to beat.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Viccruic Very very nice phone
This is awesome, very smooth operation. battery life is very good, I like the simple design and still can handle many apps with easy to install and use apps.
Rated 5 out of 5 by MarieLouiseB1 the phone is great but be careful about buying it at Walmart.com. Since this phone has a smaller sim card than my previous one, I asked the guy at the phone counter to help me transfer my number. When he called T-mobile, they told him that the sim was not valid that the phone had not been registered as sold. I was in luck that the store happened to have another one, so I exchanged it.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Boothnbren Great phone for anyone- fun new interface
This phone has been everything I hoped and more. The screen is larger than most phones, yet fits in my pocket easily. The camera is great quality and the apps/effects have been wonderful - nothing like it on my Android phones of past. Skydrive gives me more space than Dropbox and automatically backs up all of my pics, not to mention documents. I can type, view and edit Word and Excel documents, which is helpful for my work. And the tiles on the homepage are unlike anything out there - a new and exciting interface that can be personalized. Also like that if it gets dropped, the battery is set inside, so it doesn't fall out - a nice feature when you have kids. All in all, the best new phone ever!
Rated 3 out of 5 by julee242 disappointed
half of the screen went black after 5 weeks, wasnt dropped...and nokia will not stand behind their product
Rated 5 out of 5 by MrMom147 Awesome phone for the price!
I have had this phone for just about a month now and I can say it is the best phone I have ever owned. The operating system is super smooth and quick. I have had 2 android phones, granted not top of the line, but neither is this. Although both of the previous phones cost more than this phone they were buggy and slow. The features I need were all there on this phone. I do not use it for face to face skype chat etc so I do not miss the front facing camera. The battery will last all day even with bluetooth and wifi on. With my other phones I constantly had to toggle those features on and off to conserve battery. I cant say enough good things about it. Two thumbs up to Nokia and Windows. (and that is not easy to say coming from a Mac guy-who unfortunately cannot afford the pricy Iphone or it's service plans)
Rated 4 out of 5 Best buy for the buck
When i was shopping for new phones, i came across this phone which was relatively cheap compared to everything else in the Market. i was a little skeptical about it, thinking why would it be cheap but got decent review.
I still do not know the answer, I do not have any complaints and I love this phone.
Rated 5 out of 5 by s123flo This phone is one of the best phone I have ever bought. The price, quality, and the speed of the phone is excellent. I have try many android phones but this one would replace all of them. Very easy phone layout. I would recommend to anyone who wants a good phone for the price, quality, and speed. I would say keep it up Nokia and Microsoft.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Goddessf I love this phone!
The nokia lumia 521 is my first smartphone, and I couldn't have made a better choice! The keys are easy to read, and it pretty much does everything I need it to do. I could not sync my last phone to my pc, but I was able to sync my nokia on the first try, with no problems. Although I am still getting to know the apps and bells and whistles, I am having fun learning my new phone. I will be purchasing 2 more for my husband and son.
Rated 4 out of 5 by raisedinwesttx Very good starter smartphone
After all the positive reviews of this phone, I made the decision to buy it, and I'm glad I did. It's my first smartphone. The main thing I'm not too crazy about is that I have to turn the Wi-Fi connectivity off in order to send and receive pics. I don't understand why this happens, and most forums and solutions I've read are very confusing. I think it's a T-Mobile/sim card issue and not a phone issue, from what I've researched about it. This has been happening with other T-Mobile customers. It's a better deal to buy this phone through Wal-Mart than through T-Mobile. I really like the features and the ease of use, although the camera function takes some getting used to. Overall, I really like the tiles and how smooth and quick everything runs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by strmmaster piece of junk
Had this phone for 1 week and it froze up on me, could not get it to reboot. Even took it to the Tmobile store and they hooked it to the computer and still wouldn't reboot.
Rated 4 out of 5 by 5Ken So far, so good.
This is my first smart phone - I chose it for the value (bought 4 new phones and this one was way cheaper than the rest of the family's!# and because I thought it might be easier to understand. My family thinks the apps are not as good - but I mainly wanted to be able to use the phone, text, check emails and surf a little. Some of the processes are a little hard to get used to (I don't know how to edit mis- typed phone numbers or how to access contacts very quickly), but overall I like the phone. Since this was my first smartphone, I had to enter all contacts by hand. I haven't used many of the apps that came with it but I am still learning.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Coffeepawt Amazing Non Contract Phone for 100$
I would highly recommend this phone to anyone who is happy with the Windows OS. It's nice and buttery smooth ! Do not hesitate because you will find that with the features it comes with you'd almost think it was a contract phone !
~ Upgradeable memory though Micro SD card
~ Battery Life is fantastic and the fact that it is removable makes it easier and cheaper to replace if anything go's wrong with it
~ 512 MB of Ram runs pretty much everything smooth as glass
~ Voice to text feature is fast and accurate !
~ Doesn't feel cheap in your hands and looks great !
~ Soooo many cases to choose from if you look online
~ This thing can game decently but lags on games that use 3-D ( games like Angry Birds and etc. run perfectly fine )
