The company will probably tell you one year. Am not sure of that, but the flavored TVP that I used to make myself would last for decades closed up in a can or jar in a dark dry place. I live in north central California where the humidity is always low.

The can states a sealed shelf life of 10 years, once open they'll keep for up to a year... but in our house we'll never find out if that timeframe is accurate - the family loves them, they'd never last that long.

Kellyqp not sure what Bacos are. But these are GREAT. taste yummie. They are small bits and you can eat right out of the can. Put a pinch on anything you would bacon. GREAT buy for the price.

I opened it a couple months ago and it&#39;s still fresh like the day I opened it.

How long will this product keep once it has been opened?

No, there is not any trans fats or hydrogenated oil.

No to the first and am not sure about the 2nd, but I doubt it. Any little oil remaining from the soybean flour could still be in the TVP & that's only if soybean oil is hydrogenated. The finished product was always dry and never greasy.

since I can't eat a real bacon that I love so much this is excellent substitude , it taste just like bacon , use often in sup or in the morning with my scrambled eggs , the bits are small but the most thing here is the flavor that is smoky and tasty

I wouldn't eat them right out of can, but are great mixed in hash browns, breakfast dishes or salad crunchies.

Great for long term storage

I bought one can just to try the Vegetarian Bacon Bits before deciding whether to stock them for long term food storage, we have some picky eaters in our family and trying things on a small scale makes sense. They were a huge hit! My self proclaimed carnivore husband loves them, and that's saying a lot. They have a great bacon-y flavor and smell, they taste great on a salad straight out of the can, and the shelf life can't be beat. There's directions for re-hydrating them, and I tried that but we actually prefer to just use them as - is right out of the can. They're great on top of food or just added into dishes while cooking, they turn out great in potato or egg dishes, and I can't wait to try them in home made biscuits. We plan on stocking up, they're that good.

My Carnivore Husband Loves These!

We use lots of these and when comparing the cost to the small bags available on the store shelf, these are at least 25% less expensive, taste exactly the same, and stay fresher in the can, even after opening. The shelf space is a drawback, but savings makes up for it!

good for food storage or everday use

So far I've used this in an omlet, a baked potato casserol, and miked into some scrambled eggs. I'm very pleased with the product. 1 Tbs adds a lot of bacon flavor to a serving, and I wouldn't use more than that. The granules themselved are quite salty, so I have been greatly reducing the salt in recepies I use it in, and that seems to be working out fine. I love that I can add meat flavor without having to refridgerate anything, and I don't have to worry about it going bad until a year ofter it's opened, so it works great for me.

Works great

This product is like a big can of bacon bits. You can use them in dips, to season cassaroles, or even eat them from the can. They even taste good in scrambled eggs and vegetable wraps if you want a bit of a smoked ham taste to it. Great value for the size can. It's larger than a 3 lb. coffee can. I am very satisfied with this product. No refrigeration needed and it's good for a year after opening.
