I decided to go with a less expensive phone that uses the Verizon network. Although the Samsung Galaxy Centrura doesn't have as many cool features it is still a smartphone, runs on Android ice cream sandwich, was $50 cheaper and works with Verizon towers. If the LG Optimus Extreme L40G phone were about $50 cheaper I probably would have tried AT&T network.
Rated 4 out of 5 by shoppingnow1002 Great Smart phone for the price
Good Sound: bought for my older mother who is hard of hearing and she can hear just fine on it.
Easy to use internet and email
It is definitely not an iphone or anything but it is a great smart phone for the low cost.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 07abby92 Good phone
I am very happy with my phone. I haven't had any problems with it and it does everything I want it to. I am able to download apps off of Google Play (Pinterest/Candy Crush etc) which is a huge plus!! The camera works nicely and it even includes a flash. I chose this phone because it runs off of AT & T. The reception is great. The only downfall is the battery never stays charged! I can go online or use an app and watch the battery percentage drop before my eyes. In a minutes time I watched it drop by 4%.. Otherwise this is a great phone!!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Topmuffin I love my phone. It's taken me about a week and half to put all my contacts in and figure out how to download everything. I was tired of. AT&T contracts. I would buy this phone again. It does more than my other (contract) phone did and its $45.00 a month.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sailguy1957 Great phone for a great price
Previously I owned an LG Optimus Q and thought I would miss the qwerty keyboard but have not missed it a bit. The talk to text works excellent. This phone is twice as fast for web browsing, checking email, FB ect. It is lightweight and thin and battery life is better also. Oh and the price was $30 cheaper than the Q. Overall I am very satisfied!
Rated 4 out of 5 by Glissenz Had High Hopes for this phone
Bought this phone based on all the five star reviews. I think it functions fairly well, and if it were not for the line that goes straight across the phone about 3/4 of an inch down from the top within the first six weeks of owning it, I would be really happy with it. Seems pretty no frills, basic, but that is what I was originally looking for, The screen cold be a little clearer period. Voices sound clear.
Rated 4 out of 5 ANSWERING A CALL
As expected with one exception. I have trouble answering the phone (receiving incoming calls). I swipe screen starting with ringing phone icon, swipe different directions, tap icon and other. Still most caller hang up before I have success in answering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RougeX72 great phone for a good price
Just went to straight talk. Wanted a good phone at small price to see how good the service really is, and i have to say i am not disappointed. I ordered 3 for the for the family, and we all love them. I like that we were able to get the phone insurance at a much cheaper price than with our old contract phones. This phone has alot more memory than our 150 mb smart phones that we were stuck with for the last 2 yrs. We have had no issues with these phones or with straight talk. We even went out of state and the phones still worked great.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ETwens A good value for the money, I reccomend it to anyo
This phone will provide the everyday user with virtually everything that they could ever want. If you are a Novice li9ke me, it will take you a little while to learn how to operate it, but once you do, it is a blast.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Jingaboo Only thing missing is a front camera. Easy to set up and good speed.
Rated 4 out of 5 by rainee412 Great phone
With my last phone, android, I was always getting the warning about storage room. This one has lots of storage, more memory. I haven't had any problems at all, apps work fine, camera is great. I'm happy with this phone. It's a really good smart phone for those not wanting to have a ton of music downloaded on their phone, and lots of apps.
The touch screen is 4", and much better for texting for us with old fingers. :)
Rated 5 out of 5 by AIV2012 very sturdy phone well worth the money
Rated 2 out of 5 by bmiranda WOW......
ok so for the price id have to say not a bad phone but...... i can barely hear when im in a call, i turn on the speaker phone in call and it doesn't work, i sync a bluetooth and can answer the call with the bluetooth but again the sound wont come through, the sound in call only comes out of earpiece. other then that not a bad phone, camera is great for pics and video.
Rated 5 out of 5 by momsbud Smart phone cheaper
May not be an iphone but works just as well and a whole lot cheaper. Have straightalk service and my phone loads as fast as the iphone that a friend has. Paid only a fraction of the price he did.
Rated 4 out of 5 by gummybear1950 Excellent product. Very easy to navigate. Straight talk you are the BOMB
Rated 4 out of 5 by KERH GREAT PHONE, GREAT PRICE!
This phone has all the bells and whistles without the obnoxious price.
I did my comparison with the Samsung Galaxy 2.
The Galaxy has a more powerful camers and a front facing camers as well.
LG only a 5 mp, rear facing camera.
The LG holds a strong charge for a couple of days.
For long trips, Mapquest in route will eat up a charge, so i keep mine plugged in the car adapter while in motion.
So far so good, only had the phone for two weeks!
Straight Talk is the way to go, works well, strong signal and even works out in the wilderness!
Rated 4 out of 5 by Saddlesore Great for the price
This phone works off of att towers, I am not a fan of att, the service is ok. The phone is great, lots of super features, for half the price of a contract plan this is a good deal. Only dissapointment is that I thought this phone would work off Verizon. If that doesn't matter then this is the phone to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mariegirl2 Love it! Love it! Love it!
This is my first updated LG whatever phone, and I really like it. It was pretty easy to handle, I wish more accessories were available for this phone, but overall I Love it! Thanks Walmart for this option for a Straight Talk phone.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Luckyhit Super, Superb, Intuitive. Join Smart Phone Era Now
I'm new to the smart phone fad. Now I'm sorry I waited so long. The LG L40G is intuitive and easy to use. And Smart Talk is easy to use as well. This is a great beginning for those whom are thinking of getting into the smart phone era.
My only concern is Straight Talk customer service people are a bit hard to understand but if you have a little patience they strive to assist you. Just be patient, customer service sincerely wants to help you.
What prompted the move is Straight Talks cost is very low for the unlimited services nation wide. I replaced my land line and kept my same land line number. The cost was a wash. Now I have total portability with access to my same number I had for 30+ years and on the go texting and internet.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Vertigo67 My entry to smart phones/straight talk
Had long wanted to upgrade my phone, but my nationwide carrier offered only basic phone for talk, or almost doubling my monthly bill to get any talk/text/web. Headed to Straight Talk with some anxiety, having read the bad reviews re customer service. I ordered this phone on the website - not much choice in my local store. Bought the service card in the store, and was able to activate in about 10 minutes on line with minimal hassle. opting to get a new phone number. After trying it out for a couple weeks, signed up for automatic refills. We'll see how it goes. This specific phone: Pros - nice feel, good display, much info available on line, many nice features for a non -tech-savvy guy like me. Cons - more difficult to find accessories for than more popular phones. Overall - quite happy, hope there are no service glitches.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Katees Great phone
Easy to set up. Updated OS (Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0) compared to other Straight Talk Androids. Easy to use and love that it syncs my contacts with my computer and Nexus tablet. Downside: It is slippery to hang on to and has somewhat squared off corners. All my previous phones have all been rounded off at the corners, which I much prefer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by peeone Love it
This phone is the best, gets done every thing I need in a phone
Rated 1 out of 5 by STEELERS76 If you live in Las Vegas, NM do not purchase this phone the internet will not work in this area due to it being an AT&T phone. The signal is not good internet only worked off wi-fi. I did like the functions of the phone so iI went with the LG Optimus Showtime which is the upgrade for $50 more and it runs off the Verizon towers better phone for the money.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Nanster59 If the camera is important to you, do NOT buy it!!
The photos really were bad. Very blurry at times and when zooming in, the clarity got worse. I will NEVER recommend an LG phone after experiencing this. I love to take photos and not have to carry a camera with me. Even if shopping, it's great to take a picture of an item, send to email so I can look up reviews before buying. Or, I love to take a picture of a cool dog or video of a friend's kid. With the LG camera, FORGET IT!!! I returned the LG, and for the same exact price, I got the HUAWEI Ascend Plus. The store people said the last Huawei Ascend got returned a lot, but not the Plus. This phone, WOW, the photos are exceptional. Forget the LG, save your money and the hassle. It's not worth it.
Rated 2 out of 5 by KiKi1969 Not much better than the Huawei phone I replaced!
I expected a great deal better product out of LG!!! This phone is slow & has to be shut down & rebooted just as often as the junky Huawei phone I replaced!!! Not sure if it's the phone or Straight talk?!?!
Rated 5 out of 5 by joeosudude I love my new phone!
I had some issues transferring my old telephone number with T Mobile to Straight Talk. The first individual with Straight Talk was hard to understand and I got frustrated. But than, I got bumped up to some one who helped me get through this. I was having a problem with my old pin/password holding up the process. Great job!
Rated 5 out of 5 by erlt Great smart phone!
This phone was hard to find available, but was worth it!

Good coverage , it's ATT. Works great inside where I work. Tryed Sprint and Verizon covered phones had bad coverage in my work place. Great battery life. Pictures are ok, depends on where you are. You can save battery life by turning off your browser. I'd buy it again.
