An influential figure in the 1970s British indie cinema, producer/director Pete Walker tested the limits of film censorship in the UK with a string of gruesome and erotic thrillers. In "House Of Whipcord", a fashion model (Penny Irving) is lured into a private reform school where she is punished for her sexually liberated behavior by a zealous warden (Barbara Markham). Walker's spin on Hitchcock's "Psycho", "Schizo" involves a beautiful figure skater (Lynne Frederick) who must protect herself against a homicidal stalker. "Die Screaming, Marianne" stars Susan George ("Straw Dogs") as a woman caught in a nightmarish plot to rob her of an inheritance. Pop singer Jack Jones (best remembered for the "Love Boat" theme) plays a singer who is haunted by the death of his wife, and led into a confrontation with the killer, in "The Comeback". The four films in this collection - each remastered in HD from the original negatives and accompanied by newly-filmed interviews - demonstrate the devious sense of humor and penchant for the grotesque that has earned Walker such an enthusiastic cult following.
