I bought this last fall. Noticed that the thermostat is in increments of 5 deg (65,70,75,80). When it's in the thermostat mode as opposed to the manual High/Low mode, it turns on at the set temperature. But doesn't turn off until it's about 5 degree above the setting. Set for 65 and it will cycled the temp in the room between 65 and 70. It work as described above for one winter (used only at night in kids bed room) then the half way through the next winter it would not turn on when pressing the power button. Moved it to the garage to work on it in my spare time, it started working again. But then wouldn't turn off using the power button. So it has an issue with the power button and with the thermostat (when working). I read somewhere that there's a switch that detects when it tilts over and that could become corroded or dusty and stop making electrical contact to allow the unit to come on. But that doesn't not explain why it wouldn't turn off. Bad switch & poor electrical control design.

This is a great product. I am surprised it performs as well as it does. We have a large, non insulated rec room that is a conversion of 1/2 of our detached garage. We've been struggling to heat it for the past several years in the winter with a fan + heating element type space heater. Within hours of plugging in the Honeywell, our rec room went from 29 degrees to 65 and held there. Now to be clear, I'm not sure the exact size, this is the 1 1/2 section of a 2 1/2 car detached garage with single pane windows and no wall or ceiling insulation at all, just drywall. We could easily get it up to 75+ degrees F if we had 2 of these, but with our mild winters here in WA state, 65 is plenty. I can get it to around 70 or so if I use the fan type heater we already had to supplement the Honeywell. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone who has a difficult or even not so difficult space to heat. One other thing to note, is I haven't seen a real noticeable rise in our electric bill, maybe a little when we are using both heaters, but not even close to what I thought it would be.

I heat my over-sized 2-car garage with it. I like to keep my garage at around 55-degrees because my living room and kitchen are directly above it. By not allowing the ceiling of the garage and the floor above to reach freezing temperatures, it has not only improved my comfort (no cold floors in the living room and kitchen), but it has also helped my heating bill. Some things to keep in mind though are that my garage is on the end of a condo building, so one side is protected by the building's common area. The other wall is about 1/2 submerged into the ground. The walls are made of concrete block. The double garage door is fully insulated. The first year I used this, I could not believe how efficient it was. It was not even running constantly. Sometimes when I checked it, it was only at room temperature, waiting to heat the garage. I live in Wisconsin, so this was amazing to me. I'm on my second year with it now and it's still performing GREAT even with sub-zero weather.

I have had my Honeywell Oil-Filled Heater for five years and it has worked perfectly until yesterday, when it suddenly quit. In the past 24 hours, I have learned that you must be very carefully with the plugs on these heaters. If the plug is not plugged in 100% or becomes jarred a bit loose, it seems to overheat and back up into your heater, which then shuts down, and you won't be able to restart it for a period of time. I had moved my heater into the doorway of another room, and the plug became a bit detached. Other electric heaters I have require several hours of being unplugged in order to "reset" the internal thermostat. Thinking I would try that before ordering a new one, I unplugged it and pulled it aside for several hours. When I wanted to plug it in for the night, it worked perfectly! I run this little heater in the great room (living room - kitchen combo) on low at night, and it seems to keep our entire small house warmer than 55 to 60 degrees. I actually believe it saves electricity because we're not running every heater in the house on high trying to re-heat the house the next morning. I'm very happy with this heater, and I would recommend it!

I LOVE this Honeywell Oil radiator - Room Heater. We've been using this model for over 3 yrs now, and it runs as perfect as the day we got it. The units thermostat allows us to regulate room temp without worry or hassle. Especially love the 3 settings, we keep ours on the lowest energy usage setting and it still keeps the house wonderfully comfortable and saving us money at the same time. It has lowered our winter energy bill considerably - easily making it worth the money of the unit. I just can't say enough about how much we rely on this unit - would buy it again in a heartbeat We have 2 other brands, silmilar style, bought before we found this one, (in the other upstairs rooms of the house) and they don't hold a candle to this model - the Honeywell is by far, our 'go to' large room heater

I bought this radiatior because it has a digital setting you can use. But it also shows current temperature. When turned on it automatically starts on high. there is a tiny toggle on the left that allows the red bars on display to go from 3 bars down to 2 or 1. IF you set the temp. To 70 and leave the 3 bar setting it will go way above 70. I put it on the lowest setting and it will keep what ever digital setting I put. IT is all done with small toggle bars, other than the on button. The only thing I had to put on were the wheels.

My 89 Year old father is always cold. Even with the central heating set at 77 degrees (I know!!) his bedroom was "cold" to him (the thermometer said 75). So, with this radiator, his room now stays nearly 80.

I love how this heater in record time heats the large open areas in my condo that include the living room, dining room, den, and kitchen! I turn on the central heat for about 30 minutes until the Honeywell heats up, the let it works it heating magic. I like the digital and adjustable thermostat to set temperature control, and like that it's portable. I previously preferred oil-filled radiant heaters (and still do in many ways), but am definitely glad I invested in this electric one. It is simple to assemble the wheel base. I can't say anything about whether or not I save on heating since I recently purchased, but if it's anything like the oil-filled heaters I've previously purchased, it will save me money.

I've only had this heater for a couple of weeks but so far I love it. It is very easy to operate and seems to do a good job. The only 2 drawbacks I can see with it is the temp. seems to vary quite a bit between heating cycles. If you need a constant temp. this might not be a good choice. The other thing that seems silly to me is that the cord comes out of the front of the heater, so you have to run the cord alongside the heater if you want to be able to see the digital display. It seems that it would be really easy to have it too close to the heater and damage the cord. I rated the energy efficiency as Average because I really haven't had it long enough to know about that.

    • A. The instructions say, keep it 3 feet from the wall or furniture, curtains etc. I would use careful discernment. I simply didn't have the room to keep it 3 feet from the wall and the bed and dresser, so I put it at a sensible distance from all of them and when first operating it, checked to see if the nearby surfaces were warmer to the touch that those further away. The answer was, in my situation, not a significant amount. Use caution, test out your own situation over the time period that you will typically have the heater running.

    • A. Though this heater does radiate in all directions, physics dictates that heat rises. For safety reasons though, I would keep this unit at least 3 feet away from anything, including walls. I have mine about 2 feet away from a wooden coffee table, due to limitations on placement in the room I have it in and haven't had any problems, but again, to be safe, I would keep it 3 or more feet away.
