It's worth the $265 I paid. Entry level safe.

My first safe and I knew this wasn't going to be a "real" safe. I got it on rollback for $265. For what it is, it's worth it. It weighs 129 lbs, one guy can't lift it, but it can definitely be dragged easily. I bolted it to the floor and a block wall inside of a small closet. It's pretty well hidden as well. Is it going to stop an experienced thief with safe cracking tools? no, but it will slow down someone who thinks they're just going to pry it open. It will definitely stop the average crackhead. If someone gets past my 2 German Shepherds, they can take a crack at this. I was honestly surprised at how sturdy it seems to be. If it wasn't a rollback I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I would've spent a few hundred more and gotten something beefier. It had a scratch on one of the top corners and one inside rack was half attached, other than that, it arrived in good condition. The top shelf is small. The whole thing filled up real quick with 3 long guns, 5 handgun cases and ammo. If you're looking for an 800 pound, fire rated safe, keep looking.

    Customer review by GR8FIRE

    4.0 stars by GR8FIRE

I have a few guns that I would like to keep out of my son's reach and away from any uninvited guests. But I am on a limited budget and I researched a ton of options and the bottom line is all safes can be cracked open if the thief has the right tools. Luckily, I live 2 blocks away from the fire department so I don't think the premium for fire proofing is worth extra money. This thing isn't going to melt easily. The safe arrived quickly and only had a couple small cosmetic scratches on the sides that are facing the walls anyway, cool. The digital lock and key work perfectly. I used the included bolts to secure the safe to the floor and wall. I pack my guns & ammo in and arrange everything... And right when I start to write this 5-star review I notice the door grinds and squeaks. So I examine the inside of the door, remove the carpeted interior door panel and locate the problem. ONLY THE TOP HINGE WAS BOLTED ON, THE BOLTS AND NUTS FOR THE BOTTOM HINGE WERE NEVER ASSEMBLED! I had to get out my 17mm ratchet and wrench and secure them DIY style. Stack-On needs to step-up with some Quality Control! I am otherwise very HAPPY AND SATISFIED WITH THIS SAFE, but I would warn everyone to check and tighten down all your bolts if you buy one. This safe was on sale/ "RollBack" for $250 down from $398, at that price its a good deal.

    Broken barrel rest

    Customer review by Airbornequeen

    1.0 stars by Airbornequeen

I received the gun cabinet on 2/1/14. Both of the side barrel rest were broken. My husband call Stackon directly that Monday morning and was told the rest would be mailed to him. After not receiving them two weeks later, I called and was told they had been mailed but they would resend the barrel rest. We received the gun cabinet on 2/1/14, it is now 3/14/14 and we have yet to receive the barrel rest.

    • A. No. If your house is on fire, it's going to end up with damage.

    • A. Not that I can tell. It is basically a 16ga steel cabinet. I am sure if it was, they would include it in the description.

    • A. No, when I bought it I was thinking it was fire rated but its not. The listing states that it weighs over 100lbs. When I got it, I could carry it with no problem. Its gotta be less than 50lbs. The reason I'm mentioning this is because the fire rated ones are full of sand in the walls that cause it to be heavy. Other than in not being fire rated I am pretty happy with the unit.

    • A. No. Any fire-rated safe would clearly state it's rating in it's description. I also own this safe, and it definitely would do next to nothing in a fire, but that is what home-owner's insurance is for.
