Rated 1 out of 5 by Darbs33 DOESNT WORK WITHIN A 40 MILE RADIUS OF THIS STORE
This product does not have a reliable network in the 18325 or 18509 zip code. I took the time to research this product and even call the store and was assured that this product uses whichever major provider has the strongest signal. Obviously, this is not true because the only time I BARELY got connected was hanging out the window on the top floor of my house. In Scranton (which is a major city), I got no signal at all. I read on some website that this product uses Sprint only. SPRINT DOES NOT WORK AROUND HERE so DONT SELL THIS IN MOUNT POCONO. Complete waste of my time. I returned it 2 days later and I now have a Verizon Wireless card that works like a charm wherever I am.
Rated 4 out of 5 by MaxwellSmaxwell Briefly, so far, so good.
Usually works except maybe in low population areas. I travel a small community circuit and it may not work between towns. However, I live in a rural sub-division and it has worked well. It looks as though adding on to the current subscription will be simple via their website. Yes, it was a gift to me from me. My iPad is WiFi only. I am between jobs, working PT, raising grandkids, so my life is pretty active. I need to be able to look at job prospects ASAP. Not wait until the next day since I am working 2nd shift.
Thank you and good night America.
Rated 5 out of 5 by beerncoffeesnob perfect little portable hotspot
My family has all the latest technology, smartphones, eReaders, iPads etc... and this device works fantastic with every single one. Easy and fast setup. Although I've only had it for less then a year, I am very happy with my purchase.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Aviator92 Excellent value for occasional light internet use
I find myself using this device often, but for light use (mostly emails and some web browsing/surfing), and it seems to work very well for me.
First of all, you can't beat the plans ($10 for 500mb with NO EXPIRATION!). You do not have to pay every month! No other company offers data-plans without a monthly expiration, which makes this device perfect for the light, occasional user who doesn't want to have shell out the money every month when they only need to use the internet sometimes. The $10 500mb plan also goes a long way, I purchased the $10 plan on May 30th, and as of July 22, I still have around 30mb left. I previously had the T-mobile 4G hotspot, and while it was faster than this device, I got rid of it after 2 months because I did not want to have to pay for a data plan every month just for occasional use of its internet services. With the T-mobile device, I found myself having a lot of data leftover when the plan expired (I ended up only using 2/3rds of the 1.5Gb plan), so I felt that it was a waste of money and got tired of paying every month for data that I didn't get to make full use of. With this internet on the go device, you get to make full use of all of the data until it is gone, regardless of how long it takes.
This device isn't the fastest (I get around an average of 300kbps download) but is perfectly fine for light internet use checking emails and what not.
Also, the battery seems to last anywhere from 4-8 hours, depending on the cellular signal quality and how much you are accessing the internet. When I am in a good coverage area and I am not accessing the internet very much, this thing lasts all day. When I am in an area with spotty signal coverage, the device gets very warm and only lasts about 4 hours. I purchased a second battery that I can swap out when the other one is dead when I need the internet for a long period of time. So if you plan to use this for long periods at a time, I would recommend getting another battery.
All in all you can not go wrong with this device for occasional, light internet use for when your on the go.
However, DO NOT plan on watching videos or listening to streaming audio, or else you eat up all of your data in a heartbeat. I almost never watch any videos or listen to streaming audio when using this device, and the one time I did watch a video (it was a Youtube video around 3 minutes long) it had used about 70mb of data! As long as you don't need to to do any video or audio streaming, or downloading files with this device, then you will be very happy.
Also, DO NOT expect to use this as a replacement for your primary internet service, if you want something to use a replacement for your primary internet service provider, then this device is NOT for you and you need to look elsewhere as you will not be satisfied using it as such do to the above reason (I would recommend the Virgin Mobile 4G plan if that is the case).
Rated 1 out of 5 by NoSaletoday Worked well for a while then it was useless
Device worked well at first, then became problematic. Customer support at internet on the go would not warranty product. Item was approx 8 months into a 1yr warranty. Would not connect to service. Persons at customer service are not very helpfull outside of their standard checklist of problems. If their check list doesn't fix the problem good luck.
They also raised prices on data plan by 50% without notice. 3 gigs of data had been 25.00 now 2 gigs of data is 25.00.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gus1003 Great product for occasional use
I'm a trucker and I like to keep up to date with my e-mails and banking activities when I'm away from home. This device does what it says it does. I would not use it to watch videos. Would'nt watch much with 3 Gigs at 45$ a shot. Too bad it does'nt work in Canada.
Rated 4 out of 5 by JayinInglewood Pretty Good
I was uncomfortable signing up for a data plan with one of the phone companies so
decided to try the hotspot instead. The purchase was delivered in a fairly timely manner,
however, I neglected to purchase the refill card at the same time as I was unaware that
data also must be purchased along with the card. So far so good. I will have to do some
"field testing" before I am really sold on this device.
Rated 5 out of 5 by timgtech Wrks great. Best value. No Contracts.
For mobile 3g internet this is the best deal going. It's very inexpensive. Your megabytes never expire and you just add more as needed. There are no hidden fees or charges and no cancellation fee. If you don't want to use it any more just stop using it. If you change your mind, start using it again. No reactivation charge as long as you've used it at least once in a years time. You have to understand this is 3G internet speed. You get 500Mbp/s up to 1Gbp/s at best in most cases. Good for surfing the net and email. It's not ideal for online gaming and watching movies. But even 4G devices are'nt that great for those either. It's not as fast as Cable, DSL, or FiOS. But when you are on the go and need internet wherever you are this thing delivers. No Contracts! No other Fees! Just buy a refill when you need it. $10 for 500MB will get you quite a ways. Even 1.5Gb for $25 is a lot cheaper than others where you are in a 2 year contract at $60 / month.
Rated 5 out of 5 by CJXR Seamless--easy set- up and it works great!
We are moving from one state to another. We are spending 6 weeks with "mom" while we finish up here. She doesn't have Internet and has no interest in getting it. This was the perfect solution for us. You can run 5 devices-- including our wireless printer! Not for streaming movies but other than that--really quick and way better than satellite
Rated 5 out of 5 by Kamalaila This is an awesome product! This is a great pay as needed internet service for devices that are WiFi only & where it's hard to find a hotspot to connect to. This item is especially great for travel and on the go work where WiFi is necessary, but may not be readily accessible. Surprisingly, my iPad doesn't require much MB/GB, so a refill card will go a long way. The prices for refill cards are also quite reasonable, which great for people on a low budget. It was also quite easy to set up and connect devices, which is a great plus. This product is worth the initial $79.88 cost & I highly recommend it.
Rated 4 out of 5 by daqueenofstuff Overall, so far, this little device is doing all I had hoped it would do. I live in a rural area with limited choices for internet providers, which, up to now we're quite expensive. I don't normally watch full length movies via internet but did download one as an experiment after receiving the device. I won't be doing that again. it took approximately 6 hours to download a 90 minute movie and used up around 4G of my balance. Expensive movie! For my typical usage, however, this service is great and less than half the cost of my previous service. I also experimented with using my desktop computer,my laptop, and my Kindle all at the same time and had no problems. The only reason I didn't give it that 5th star in the rating is the battery. I can only get a bit short of 2 hours. Thankfully it still functions while on the charger.
Rated 5 out of 5 Good for light internet user.
This was a gift for my parents, who previously were limited to dial-up, or ridiculously over-priced and slow DSL for their internet access options. Fortunately, they live in an area with good Sprint 3G coverage, so this works well for their use patterns of email and light web browsing.
Rated 5 out of 5 by RevNelson Very pleased, does what Iwanted it for.
Rated 4 out of 5 by CaptainAndy Gets the emails I need, from anywhere.
Takes 3-5 days for Sprint to setup
Rated 1 out of 5 by Moble Could not connect to the Internet after try to with 3 iPads, 3 iPhones and 1 lap top. I called the help line and first of all it was very hard to understand them and was unsuccessful - also called apple support without success. Very very dissatisfied!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by MOGIRL1968 Does not work in specified areas
This was a total waste of money! In order to try this, you have to purchase a card for it, which is NOT refundable! I was out $25, trusting that this would work in my area, it did not. I did return the hotspot but lost the $25 for the card! Either way, you will lose money as the lowest card they sell is $15.. So you will lose that, if it does not in fact work in your area! I tried in the city too, and it did not work! Save your money!!!
Rated 3 out of 5 by Value888 Meets our needs
I bought this hot spot to get the data plan. The hotspot is small and convenient, about the size of a stack of 5 credit cards. The battery life is short, 4 hours is claimed, but I have been getting less than that. The range if the Bluetooth connection is average.
The data plan is excellent. You buy data on-line (do not buy a re-fill card) as it is mostly not available at Walmart. The data does not expire and you use it until you are finished - as opposed to every other data plan which gives you data that expires at the end of the month. I think this is how ALL data plans should work.
Rated 3 out of 5 by bgsjarena Good option
I read all of the previous reviews before I made the purchase of the Hotspot. The price is reasonable as many other reviews discussed; especially compared to Verizon (my other option).
Set up was fairly simple. The instruction guide can be confusing when it describes the many
different blinking light-modes & what they mean. The few times I have used Hotspot in other locations, (away from home), I have had difficulty downloading apps on our Kindles. The apps are ordered through Amazon but it can take up to 72 hours before the apps appear on our Kindles. Amazon has not been able to explain this problem. I am disappointed that we cannot access the Internet with the Hotspot (so far) while traveling in our cars. I wish the manufacturer would provide some type of indication for battery-life on the unit. We are never sure how much power we have left on the Hotspot. The unit is tiny, lightweight; the charger is almost larger than the unit itself. We like that we can connect up to 5 products to the Hotspot.
Rated 1 out of 5 by panther121 poor customer service
i had my internet on the go for a week and can not enter the serial number in registation, will not take it. the company can not find the problem.
Rated 1 out of 5 by NDME Doesn't work
I went to the web site for Internet To Go and put in my zip code to see if it "works" in my area.
It said it should, it did not.
Rated 2 out of 5 by RB3641NC Good Job Bad Battery
I just want to say that I like my internet on the go. It is a great value for someone like myself who don't use much internet. Their is a downside to this and that is the battery don't last for more then an hour. If you plug it in your car charger it still doesn't last that long because it causes the unit to over heat and that causes it to cut off. Overall it's a good product if you don't plan on using it more then about an hour at a time. But they need to get a much better battery for it. Less then 1 hour battery life is very poor.
Rated 2 out of 5 by WhoRU490 Very slow, not dependable connection, poor battery
I purchased this to use for my computer and android phone. It is too slow and poor quality connection to use for either. The download speed is less than 1 Mb and the upload speed is around 256k according to the speed test I ran. I cannot place Google voice calls because the connection quality is so poor. I was looking forward to carrying it around with my phone, but the battery seems to last about 4 hours. The unit is much wider than a credit card and it gets hot, very hot. The pay as you go plan is very attractive, but the item is not usable for me because of the issues I have discussed. Maybe you could use this if you are only doing email and facebook kind of things.
Rated 1 out of 5 by sagbags1 Junk
I have 2 homes. although it says it works in both zip codes 48739 and 92242, it doesn't work at
all in either zip codes. Can't even set up. Blue lite on indicates NO SERVICE. May work in your
zip code but don't believe what they say and buy the lowest dollar value card the first time cause the money you spend on the card will be non refundable.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Megg32 Easy to set up, but spotty reception
I purchased this with the intent of using it at conventions/trade shows. It was easy to set up and the price of the data service was very reasonable.
Outdoors and at home, the signal was strong and it was a useful service. When I went inside a large hotel to use it, the signal was almost non-existent. I was still in the city where the service was supposed to be covered (in the same zip code). I plan to return it. Had it worked even moderately well on the trade-show floor, I would keep it. The service would work for mere moments and then drop off entirely. I gave it a chance over 3 days, but the reception never improved.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ubcnme Skeptical at first
So far, this product has been wonderful. Simple to set up and use. Works perfectly for my needs so far. Very happy I can drop my major company and go with a no contract service.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Loknee Love it
Love it. I got two. One for me and one for the kids. It's perfect. Now I don't have to look for at Starbucks to find WiFi. Makes my work much easier. Plus it's portable. It's not big and easy to toss in my purse or backpack.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Charlottesgurl Good product, Horrific experience!
Before you buy, please make sure you check out whether you can receive service in the locations you will need service: this device does not purport to work EVERY SINGLE LOCATION IN THE COUNTRY! Given that caveat, the hotspot is great. Have not had a problem connecting anywhere, always lots of bars--better at home than home! I have nothing bad to say about this product, when i finally got a working one.
The product i got through WalMart.com would not register. After one full week and 3 calls to Internet on the Go customer service, i returned the product to the store, who took it back without a problem and issued a full credit to my card. I then purchased another at the store, and it has performed perfectly, flawlessly.
By all means, if you have need of consistent service in the locations where it will work, get it.
Rated 4 out of 5 by TheStooge Great value if you are in Sprint service area
I've had the device now for 25 days.
At home I'm only getting between a 1 & 2 bar WAN signal as I'm on the very edge of a Sprint service area. I'm still managing a fairly solid 60-70K/S throughput...
For comparison I tried it from work where I get a full WAN signal and was managing to reach about 150K/S - that is Sprint 3G... and that's all you can expect to get. Can't blame the device on that.
Just for comparison sake, my 4G hotspot (Verizon) is far above and beyond (really not much to compare... think Turtle vs Cheeta... or maybe even Peregrine Falcon...)
For general browsing, email, etc - this works fine, just don't expect to stream video realtime or get fast downloads - it ain't happenin'.
As for the data refills - there is a gripe for me... but true with any of these devices...
I bought a 3GB monthly refill and have been watching the usage closely... even the device status page shows it's lifetime TOTAL usage is currently 1.51GB, but my Internet On The Go account shows that I only have just over 600MB remaining... not sure where their developers went to school, but that type of math just doesn't work here in the real world...
So - great device, great price, but expect ahead of time - it's SLOOOW. And if you have a good idea of how much data you need - add about 30% and that's what you'll be paying for.
Rated 5 out of 5 by mamarp Love the Myfi !
I am very pleased with the internet on the go Myfi!... I took it with me on a trip this weekend and was able to connect at a hotel that charges for wifi so that was very helpful. It's easy to hook up and connect and very light. So far I have used it on my IPAD (1st generation) and Kindle Fire (1st Generation). I only used a few MB in the times I have connected so I was also pleased with that. I used it to download e-mails and look at FB and speed was fine.
