Rated 1 out of 5 by Beachgoer001 Did not meet my expectations!
I bought this in Dec. of 2012. Since we bought the product we have not been able to play Blu-ray or 3D Blu-ray on the device. We are very disappointed with the product, because we've never had a problem with Philips brand in the past. We contacted Philips about a replacement and it did the same thing. So we contacted them again and they told us to buy a memory stick so it would play Blu-ray DVDs. They told us that the Blu-ray player isn't efficient enough to play the new Blu-ray DVDS that are being made. We tried to get our money back and so far they are not complying. Very poor customer service and very dissatisfied with the whole process! I do NOT recommend buying the product and we won't be buying the Philips brand again!
Rated 1 out of 5 by driftingcowboy1966 totally worthless piece of junk DO NOT BUY THIS
Sound quality wasn't THAT great unless you turned it up all the way, but what REALLY bugged me is that after owning this less than THREE MONTHS, I turned it on one night at 7:15 pm to watch a movie, at 7:30 AM THE NEXT DAY I was STILL waiting for the piece of junk to get passed "starting"
on the lcd screen, 72 HOURS LATER it FINALLY came on to the main screen where I tried to reset it to factory settings thinking MAYBE a software update had gone wrong and that DID work and it worked like it should,,,,FOR THREE DAYS BEFORE DOING IT AGAIN! I paid $168 for this piece of garbage, after contacting philips and complaining they offered to send me another unit since it was still under warranty and VERY quickly offered the replacement I might add, no questions about what I had done or what had happened to cause this or no question about what I was doing when it happened, just here's a replacement which to me was odd, even if it was STILL under warranty, it seemed like to me they would have wanted to see if the problem was something I had done wrong to save having to fix it at THEIR expense or as they offered, send a replacement unit. Why would they be so quick to replace THIS unit with another one unless they ALREADY knew it was bad or had a problem that couldn't be fixed or mine wasn't the only unit that had been hit with this problem. I HAD another brand name surround sound system but it didn't have a built in blue ray player so that's why I bought this and I THOUGHT getting "philips" was a good choice because it was a good brand name that I THOUGHT was quality and long lasting but after using it for a few months, I need some more "PHILIPS" but the kind in the blue bottle for the upset stomach cause it's making me sick to think I wasted that much money on something that has gone out this quick. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT IS A LEMON.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Imelectron Really Happy with my Purchase
Some reviews said it wasn't loud enough, I think it is plenty loud enough to fill a 10x16 room.. I have been really pleased with the quality of the sound as well.. I am using the digital coax connection to my source so maybe that makes a difference but for the money I am really pleased with the system.. Setup was easy as everything is color coded I did have to extend the front speakers as the wires are pretty short but that was no big deal just got some speaker wire and shrink tape and about 15 minutes that was done.. This system would make a great dorm room setup and I like that it has an aux hookup for second device as well as HDMI out, a FM radio and of course a USB connection.. The WiFi setup was a breeze as well.. The only con I have is the LED display is hard to read but for the money well worth the purchase...
Rated 1 out of 5 by Crystalizer Problematic Blu-Ray Player
I received this item as a gift on 12/25/2012, so I've had it just over one year and the blu-ray player will no longer play any discs. I used a Blu-Ray cleaner disc on it, but that didn't help it. It makes a beeping noise every time I insert a disc & says "unknown disc" and it won't play.
Complaints I have for when it was actually working: 1. If you pressed Pause while watching a Blu-Ray disc, it would mess up when you pressed to start playing it again. Didn't really have that issue when watching DVD's. 2. The remote control doesn't respond very well. I often have to hit a button 2 or 3 times before it will actually respond. I've had that problem from the very beginning, so it isn't a battery or overuse issue.
I have no complaints about the sound system portion of this product. I'm just very disappointed in the lack of longevity of the Blu-Ray player.
Rated 1 out of 5 by vannmor The sound is not the best.
Rated 4 out of 5 by tdh2484 Pretty Good For The Price
I bought this to replace my other phillips blu ray surround system that got hit by lightening, I was looking for a reg blu ray surround system and saw this one on sale that had 3d & wifi, so I got it. So far I do like it, the sound is pretty good on it,cant complain, but I dont have a large room where it is , so that may be a difference like others are saying, the remote is a lil laggy at times but oh well, I would of liked to see the speaker wires a little longer like my last surround system though, thats the only thing that I dont like about it, but you can add some wire to it if you know how to do that. I have not got to check out the 3d part yet so I am not sure how that is, the wifi is only for Netflix/Vudu which does pretty good on playing the videos on my connection, overall , its a nice little BluRay Surround system and so far I am happy with it.
Rated 3 out of 5 by mmMccoy It did not have everything I wanted
It is a nice home theatre unit but you can't watch tv in stereo or hear all the speakers off TV unless you are watching a movie through the dvd/blue-ray unit. I would like to be able to hear the speakers on tv shows.
Rated 4 out of 5 by thertz Good value system with limitations
Sound is good and volume adequate. But the the bluray player can't quite keep up with high action. Regular movies seem fine. Overall for the money a good value.
Rated 2 out of 5 by ardolor Am currently still unable to get the speaker system to function from the TV only, still unable to determine why 2 peakers don't work. Have followed the manual and find it not the most illustrive on problem solving.
Rated 1 out of 5 by idonthaveanymoreideas Awful sound
I bought this for my dorm room as I had a TV and was looking for a blu-ray player with netflix capabilities. When I first brought the unit to my room I was extremely excited to set it up and test it out. First test, plug my iPod in and give it a good 'ole sound test, and boy was I disappointed. Granted it's not a particularly expensive setup, I was still very bummed out to hear the lack of highs and mids, the bass hit a little better than I had expected, but the rest was just flat. The Netflix connectivity is nice, but thats starting to be commonplace, so thats nothing really special.
Overall very disappointed, I have returned the product and will be purchasing something far more worthy of my $168.
Rated 3 out of 5 by CenTexan Not bad - but not for me
So many nice things, but a few things made me decide to return it and look further. This system is a great value and perfect for casual user or a bedroom set-up. But I have a dedicated media room, so will be considering other options.
Things I liked: Great bass, moderate/good sound throughout spectrum; the speaker wires had quick connectors in place for easy set up. THE PRICE; USB input for playing MP3s from a thumbdrive; PLENTY of power/volume if you're not trying to rattle the roof (although it did at times!).
Things it didn't do right: dropped my Netflix connection a good bit (my network fault?); can't "add" channels like a Roku (only Netflix and other streaming mentioned in ad are available - I guess this is the next wave in marketing . . what/who your equipment streams); EQ very limited; slow turn on and boot up; remote had no button for opening/closing disc tray on unit.
Maybe I shouldn't do it, but I like to play an audio CD through the system to evaluate the sound quality and imaging. This is where this system let me down. But for TV/streaming, it sounded just fine.
Overall, it's a very good entry-level or secondary system - that's how I would recommend it.
Rated 1 out of 5 by morganronni Did not come with connectors ,been sitting in y living room since Christmas day, absolutely useless, would return had I bought it at local store !
Rated 3 out of 5 by dedicatedshop Came with no remote
Machine works great as long as I put in a movie that starts by itself. There is no remote and my blu rays don't start when I push the play button on the actual machine.

Bought this 2 weeks ago - did not come with cables - had to go buy them - very frustrating.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Melaniejean90 Great buy for a smaller living room
So far, so good. The sound is excellent and the price was way cheaper online than in store.
The cords for the front speakers are a little shorter than I hoped when I layed out the room. Same for back ones. However, if your room is small, they may be the perfect length. My house is layed out so the living room and dining room are connected so the sound isn't as good as it would be if it were a closed room. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I got my blue ray player with the built in WiFi for Netflix and what not as well as the surround sound. Same price I would have paid just for the player itself. Philips is also a good brand. If you're looking for something cheap, I would definitely recommend this one. RCA is about $30 less but it's worth it to spend the extra and get your money's worth.
Rated 1 out of 5 by AldeaBnd Addendum to earlier review
I wrote a review advising the front right, left, center and subwoofer wire were WAY TOO SHORT. I emailed Phillips and a week later received no response. I called the Parts Consultants listed on the website and they do not sell extension wires, or the connectors. BUT they will sell you the rear speakers with the longer wires, for the price of the unit. SO I call Phillips customer service. Again they have no parts or extension wires, and they referred me to a website to order them. They were unable to give me the specifics on the length of the plug or the distance between the prongs. The wires are not color coded for positive and negative so cutting the wires is ou.t Lots of help. I'll be returning the unit.

Good system for the price. Not very loud. Have to turn it up to the max. But for the price it is a decent system to own. No problems other than the sound not being very loud. Happy with it so far. Blue ray works great.
Rated 5 out of 5 by hjgvstar Nice Blue Ray system
Great system.. Was easy to set up. great sound and picture.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Jpalacio Not that great
Not what I was expecting.... The sound was ok. But it's not that good....
Rated 3 out of 5 by Thommis An average HTIB
I bought this thinking that it satisfy my want for a surround system. However, it was too weak to deliver the booms I was looking for. It would be great for a bedroom but the power is not enough for some one who wants a true receiver and surround system.
Rated 5 out of 5 by KfancyJ Great Sound
I was surprised by the sound that the unit put out because I didn't pay a lot of money for it.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Steeldriver Good product for a smaller room.
Great sound, love how it will play BlueRay 3D, BlueRay, HD, & any other disk you can think of! The speaks wires are a little short though. The wifi is a plus. It was a little confusing during the initial setup. I'm happy with my product & the price.

Very good with the price. Easy to set up. Good sound for a small room.
Rated 4 out of 5 by SephTerien Great sound for the price
Great sound in a small package. Don't be fooled by the size of the speakers. 300w pumps out great 5.1 Dolby DTS. The system is currently connected to my Xbox One via optic cable, and provides incredible sound for gaming and movies via internet apps like Netflix and Hulu Plus. My only fault is I don't own a 3D tv to utilize the 3D capability of the blu-ray player. Standard blu-rays play flawlessly.
Cons: No Bluetooth connectivity for capable phones/tablets.
Highly recommend this product for those on a budget who want great sound at the best possible price!
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nosurround Great if you have a very small room
Good sound but the wired speakers don't have enough speaker wire to put the rear speakers behind anything. If you run the speakers straight from the system you might be able to get 10' away.
Rated 4 out of 5 by RickG48 Nice system for the price
I bought this for a game room and it meets my needs.
