The Folio 13 Ultrabook laptop PC does everything but weigh you down. Less than 1" thin, HP packed more into the HP Ultrabook laptop PC so you'll get more out of it. Go from off to up and running faster than ever. Access your favorite applications and files in a flash. And enjoy a solid-state drive for fast, reliable data access on the go. Thanks to HP CoolSense Technology, your HP Ultrabook laptop PC will automatically stay cool. With a backlit keyboard and all the ports you need, about the only thing left out was the bulk. With Intel technology built in, the HP Ultrabook laptop PC is fast enough to keep up with everything from video uploads to video calls. But since this Windows laptop is less than 1" thin and under four pounds, you'll hardly know this 13.3" HP notebook computer is even there.

    OUTSTANDING computer..excellent value from WalMart

This computer is a PC World best buy...and for a reason. Boots fast as lightning. Since there's no hard disk whiring, it stays cooler, is lighter, and battery lasts longer. The only complaints are very minor. The touch pad isn't the best I've used but it's functional and you can always add a USB mouse. The other complaint is only 2 USB ports but you can add a port multiplier to solve that. Love the light weight & nearly 9 hour battery (which I'm finding to be closer to 7 hours). I also wish I could have bought this computer with Linux instead of that OTHER operating system. I checked out prices for this computer and WalMart has the best value. Add to that the free shipping and there's no reason to even shop elsewhere.

    Great Ultrabook

The battery may last 9 hours in a lab test... it doesn't in real life. But that is okay. Its like MPG figures from car manufacturers, its a gauge against the other products, not how the product performs in real life. That said, I get 6 to 7 hours regularly using WIFI, Office 2010 and Spotify at the same time. Its light enough, its small enough and its powerful enough and its a great price! You don't buy Ultrabooks for high-power apps, I get that, but I'm impressed by its performance and its speedy boot times. I like the backlit keyboard and I think the screen is great. Typing on it is fab. Having 1 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 port isn't actually that constraining and having no DVD drive isn't that big an issue with Spotify, Netflix etc. Is there a downside? - I've not found it yet. I've owned the machine for over a month now, having replaced an HP Elitebook 8460p. There is no comparison. I've air travelled 5 times with it in the last month and its a great travel companion and main professional workhorse. Great product HP. Make more of these please.

Folks - this is just an overall GREAT lightweight computer for Windows business users. Fast, small, sturdy...did I say fast? Don't overthink this...look at the price! 1. The touchpad takes some tweaking - I had some of the same complaints as others until I spent the time to play with the settings and practice. The only thing I wish was better is the 2-finger touch for a right-click...this is a hard click and not a touch, and the literature and videos are misleading, therefore many people think it's not working. 2. I was worried about fan noise...unless my room is perfectly quiet I don't notice it at all, and even when humming it's not bad. 3. The screen brightness is absolutely fine for a business user. 4. I LOVE the keyboard - perfect amount of stiffness and response - and one of the BIG selling points for me when comparing ultrabooks was the backlighting - wonderful. Buy this baby - you'll love it.

Pros: Light Turns on very quickly (~30s to fully operational) Sturdy construction Solid performance so far Nice keyboard I've seen some complaints online about the display, but I'm quite pleased with it Slight cons: I'm not really a fan of the touchpad: it doesn't seem as responsive as the one on my old HP laptop from 2005 (a zv6000) and I had to disable the pinch zoom to keep it from interfering with the two-finger scrolling. That said, I generally used a mouse on my older laptop so this may just be me adjusting to touchpads in general again. So far my battery life seems to be around 5h. This is great, but not as good as the claimed 9h. I've only had the laptop for a week, so the life of the battery may increase as I condition it more Overall, I'd definitely recommend it to customers considering an ultrabook and it makes a very nice upgrade from my faithful but somewhat outdated zv6000.

I love this computer because of the quick start up time, long battery life, keyboard response, and speakers. The main thing i dislike about this computer is the trackpad which takes a little getting used to. I was used to using two hands with my other laptops but with this computer you can only use one. It's definitely not a deal breaker but there will be a learning curve for most. The screen resolution is not an issue for me. I'm guessing if the resolution was higher then the battery life may not be as good. If I ever run out of storage space on this I'll probably just buy an SD card which would be nicer if the card was flush when inserted instead of sticking out a few millimeters. Overall, I really like it and I'm glad I picked this over the other ultrabooks on the market. I wish it didn't come preloaded with so much HP software but oh well.

I purchased this computer for general school and work usage, basic web browsing and office work. I thought it was great really, I loved the full SSD storage, files loaded speedily and without lag, I never noticed performance issues with the basic i3 Sandy Bridge processor, and was thoroughly impressed on that end. Further, the keyboard and trackpad were superb, by far the best on any Windows laptop I've ever used (though admittedly, the trackpad was only capable of basic multitouch gestures like two-finger scrolling). Yet, I ended up returning the laptop after some trepidation on the last day of the return period. The reason was the fan noise was persistently whining loudly, it really was incredibly distracting. I don't know if this was a problem specific to my computer or not, but I did see that it had been listed on a number of forums as a complaint people had. If you aren't sensitive to a loud fan noise, this very well could be the computer for you. It's battery life, value, performance, trackpad, and keyboard are without equal in the price range, I just personally couldn't overcome the distracting fan. I know it sounds silly, but trust me, it was obnoxious the fan noise, and I even changed settings in BIOS to turn off the fan except for under heavy load, but it still kicked on frequently and loudly. :-/

    Fan too Loud

I purchased this laptop and was initially very satisfied with it. The build quality was great, and the performance was outstanding, even with light gaming. As other reviews have noted, the touchpad keys are stiff, but I was able to get used to it after a couple of weeks of use. The dealbreaker for me was the fan. The fan makes an audible whir at all times when it's on, even at its lowest speed. When the fan speeds up to its highest speed, it's simply obnoxious. I was worried about disturbing those sitting next to me on an airplane or in the library. There is a BIOS setting to allow the fan to be off intermittently (when not plugged in), but eventually the fan will have to turn on to cool the ultrabook, thus the return of the noise. I ended up returning this product and will be looking elsewhere for a near-future ultrabook purchase.

I've only had my HP Folio for about a week, so I feel like I should suspend judgment, but so far I love it. I love how light it is. It's fast, the keyboard is nice to the touch...the sound is good considering how small it is. The battery life actually is all it's cracked up to be. I left my charger somewhere and couldn't get it back for a day and a half and my computer lasted through that long of normal use (i did put it in power saver mode though.) Things I don't like: I thought to myself that I wasn't one of those people who's picky about screen size, but it turns out I kind of am. Have gotten used to it, though. I also thought that I could deal with the small size of the SSD, but I'm not sure I can... Those are both things I knew about in advance, though, so I can only blame myself. The trackpad buttons are kind of stiff (but things like 2-fingered scrolling work like a dream.) This is really minor but I also don't much like the power button. It's really small and an inconvenient shape so the laptop is hard to turn on. So far I feel like it was a great purchase and a good deal. My final verdict will depend a lot on how long it lasts, though!

While the folio13 is a nice little ultrabook, it has a few flaws which are dealbreakers for me, and I'm returning it in favor of an Asus Zenbook. Namely: noise level: the cooling fan makes a noticeable whine instant on: for some reason after a few days the sleep function stopped working properly, and I can't find the setting to correct it. touchpad: the pad area works well, but the click buttons require so much force to operate that it moves the whole machine in my lap--big interface problem. On the plus side, the included software is helpful, the webcam is nice, and the keyboard is excellent. Overall a good machine but with two serious flaws. Also, why is the power adapter so large and bulky (Asus has a much smaller one). It's the same size as used on full size desktop replacement models. HP -- try harder.

I received my first Folio 13 and it worked great. Easy to set up, keyboard was comfortable and size cannot be beat!! However, the case had a small crack on the corner. I exchanged for another ultrabook. The second one had difficulty from the start. The wireless network adaptor was disabled each time I closed the lid or the computer went to sleep. I had 3 blue screen errors in three days I had the Folio 13. Product support was helpful, but time consuming. After two tries I decided to just get a refund. I do think this is probably a good product and I just had bad luck. If you are looking for an ultra thin and light laptop this one is good. It did not get hot during use as my old (circa 2004!) laptop. If I had not had the problems I had with it I would have loved to keep it. CJ
