Durable Phone for a decent price

I've had this phone sense 12/13/2011 so far no hardware problems or OS glitches, it operates as smoothly as the first day out of the box. The exterior of the phone is still in excellent condition and very durable, the screen is durable against scratches as well. The bottom button keys have not faded or worn out yet, they still function like new. The weight and feel of this phone fits comfortably in your hands. The back side has a thin rubber material surface, it is not slippery like smooth hard plastic. The rubber material on the back allows for better grip, it is less likely to slip out of your fingers when taking it out of your purse or pocket. After nearly a year of daily use of this product, I'm still satisfied with it and would recommend it to those who are looking for a durable lasting product with zero head aches for a decent value.

I got this phone 6 months ago and I just had to write a review to get the truth out. The phone itself is very well engineered. GPS runs inside a car with other wireless services such as data or voice running simultaneously: the GPS and wireless data/voice features do not effect each other in a bad way when used at the same time, unlike the phones from you-know-who. Wireless reliability is excellent: No dropped calls, and data service has worked almost everywhere I have taken it. WiFi reception is also very good and trouble-free, and I recommend using WiFi when you can because it is many times faster than 3G. And Android? Android is AWSOME! No stupid restrictions with Apps, thousands of free apps to choose from and no nonsense, unlike you-know-who. The microphone on the phone has excellent reception: I can talk into the phone and speak the Google searches or look up addresses for navigation so that I don't have to keep using that keyboard. The only criticism I have is about the camera - there is no flash, and it takes a couple of seconds to snap the shot so forget about photographing fast-moving targets. It also does videos and tags the photos with the GPS location. Still, I have seen better cameras on other android phones, and there is only one camera, so you can't easily do video-conferencing on this particular phone. Big deal. If I want pictures and videos, my HD camera does a better job than any phone ever will. The (plan is $45 per month which gets you unlimited everything: Voice, Data, and Text services all on one. And, No ridiculous taxes and fees. I've had the phone since February and have no complaints about it or the service from Net10

My husband got an android phone from boost mobile (samsung galaxy prevail) and from day 1 he had nothing but problems, freezes all the time, drops calls, and almost never has any 3g coverage. So when I purchased this phone I was expecting the same thing, if not worse. Well I have had it about 3 weeks now and I LOVE it! I have 3g coverage everywhere, never dropped a call, and has never frozen...and I have about 15 apps currently running on it. So I definitely recommend this product. In fact my husband is switching to net10 just to get this phone.

the phone itself is great, i have nothing bad to say about the phone itself BUT because its a Net10 service, i found out later that you can ONLY use one plan with this phone, thats the 50 dollar 30 day plan which is too expensive for me and i think they need to broaden the choices when it comes to picking plans for their androids phones and not just liimit it down to one plan. this is why i returned this phone.. no good plans available at a cheaper rate

I wanted an Android phone for some time, but paying near $200 was out of the question. I was in Wal Mart in my town, and this phone was on sale for $99.95!!! I looked at it, and it had all the features I wanted but 2: One, it had the 3.2 inch screen, not the 3.5 inch, and Two, you MUST get the $50/month plan for this phone. Otherwise, I was happy with what I saw. I compared it to other similar Androids, and they ran 60 bucks or more above the 100 dollar price of this phone. The plans are ALL pretty expensive, and I liked the fact that if I did pay 50 a month, I could use it all I want for those times when I wanna web surf (3G is not too shabby), the quarter-million apps that are available, and the bottom line - the price. You could pay 300 for a phone, and if the service was say 30/month, what good is it all without the phone? If you lose or break it, you are out 300 bucks and have to start over. But if I lost or damaged this phone, I lost less than 100 dollars. Thats the way I am looking at it. Its inexpensive (by comparison), it works GREAT for calls with very good reception and clarity, the wi-fi is shaky, but I have had no crashes yet. I am actually writing you FROM the phone, and it's a good solid start for those who have never used a "Smart Phone," sort of. It will likely take you some time to get used to it, but once you do, you will never want another simple cell phone again. It's a lot of bang, or uses, for the 99 dollars. Good Luck!

    • A. No it must use the Net10 $50/30 day unlimited plan Just a clarification to an earlier answer: This exact model the LG Optimus "Net" is not offered by Straight Talk. ST offers the LG Optimus "Q" which has a slider QWERTY keyboard. Net 10 also has the Q for $180 on their site. Any Android from Net10 or ST requires the unlimited plan $45 on ST, $50 on Net10. Buy your Net10 airtime from www.pinzoo.com and pay no tax so it works out to be only a couple bucks difference from ST. ST/Net10/Tracfone are different divisions of the same company, so the actual phone service is the same for the Android phones. The Samsung Galaxy Precedent, LG Optimus Net & Q all operate on Sprint networks only, so make sure Sprint works well in your area. Go to their website and check coverage.

    • A. This is a CDMA phone [uses Qualcomm technology], and does not use a SIM card; rather, it is programmed at the factory. T-Mobile does use a SIM card [I'm using a T-Mobile SIM right now in an unlocked Chinese-clone GSM phone]. The CDMA & GSM technologies are different [well, they can communicate with each other, but you can't swap phone parts].

    • A. This is the same phone available direct from Net10 - and for the same price, including free shipping. A Net10 $50/30 Day Unlimited minutes, text & data Monthly Plan is required for this phone. This phone is not unlocked. If you order from Net10, your phone will contain a SIM card for the preferred carrier for zip code. If you buy from Walmart, you may get an AT&T SIM card or the preferred carrier for the area.

    • A. Yes! The phone's pre-installed e-mail app allows you to access Web-based & POP3 e-mail accounts. However, I did not run this app; instead, I use Google's gmail mobile...you can also link/sync all your web-based and/or POP3 e-mail accounts to a gmail account, and sync this with gmail mobile. The phone can give "notifications" when new e-mails or text msgs arrive. You can also sync the phone's contact list with a gmail account. You could access web-based e-mail [yahoo, hotmail, gmail] accounts from the phone's web browser. Be aware, some "free" Android e-mail apps are ad-supported [you will see ads] like gmail & the Mail Droid another person recommended. I've only had the phone a week, and haven't seen any ads on gmail mobile yet.
