Still less then $50. No contract!!! so great.

This phone is a really good entry android phone. Actually i think its better then some entry android phones i have seen. The phone is super fast and easy to use. Love all the app support. Great 3g coverage. Love the pandora app and use it all the time. Phone will heat up from heavy use and heavy charging. Got the battery up to 141degrees f but other then that its wicked fast. Love the phone. Get it if it will work in your area. If sprint works in your area get it, trust me you will love it.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lawrence37 I just want to say....I love the Lg Optimus Q!!! I bought the samsung galaxy phone first and I was very unsatified with it,so I took it back and bought the Lg and i'm so glad I did.It does everything I need and it is alot easier using then the samsung.
Rated 1 out of 5 by diddynjapan Don't waste your money!!!
This is the worst phone I've ever had. It freezes up several times a day and the only way to fix it is to remove the battery and reset the phone. The battery dies extremely fast and I don't even use it that much so if you want to use the web have your charger near by. Save yourself the hassle and get something else, anything, even two tin cans attached by string is more reliable!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by Nodoubtnorfear Not worth the effort.
I have 2 straighttalk cell phones and was upgrading a family member with this smartphone. However, in my area of Michigan was not very smart and not worth the effort. As many have written, the phone freezes regularly and does need the battery removed and re-inserted to make the phone functional again. This occurred at least 2x per day. The sprint network coverage was poor. There was no service in areas that my verizon tower straighttalk phones did have service. I returned the phone in less than a week.
Rated 1 out of 5 by PortageLakes Unbelievably bad quality phone
Had one and it worked 8 months then locked up.
Tracfone deleted all 586 contacts while trying to "Fix" the phone. Ended up having to go get another.
2nd phone would not activate and screen was locked.
Again returned for exchange
3rd phone also would not activate
4th phone is still working after 36 hours.
Rated 1 out of 5 by whatever56601 Straight Talk - Total Failure!!!
Straight talk has been a total failure!!! We got this phone and tried to set up straight talk. It worked for one day then the phone wouldn't dial out anymore. Tried customer support and they said it needed reprogrammed. Called the number to reprogram several times and it FAILED every time. Tried calling cust support and kept getting computerized messages saying call volume was high then got hung up on. When we did get someone at one time they FAILED to speak UNDERSTANDABLE English.
We have spent several days trying to get straight talk to work and straight talk has just been a complete FAILURE!!!
Rated 5 out of 5 by chrysinfl I have had this phone for over a month now and I am really enjoying using it. This is my first android phone and I still haven't used all the features. It is easy to use and when I need to look something up in the manual, I just go to the internet, so it is always handy. I have the $45 everything plan and it is a lot less expensive than my previous plan, which required a 2-year contract.
Rated 5 out of 5 by babygirlrosie69 AWESOME PHONE !!!
hello my name is Rosie .This phone is perfect it has everything i need the touch features plus it also has the slide keyboard . and much more without the high price of other phones !!! i ordered it for my self and since it was such a great buy i bought it for my girl as well !!
Rated 1 out of 5 by cust010 Not impressed.
This phone does not hold a charge very long. Calls do not come through sometimes, or when they do, they drop in mid conversation and the phone shuts down and restarts. You hear yourself echo when you try to answer the phone, or call someone.
Rated 5 out of 5 by lindaloon I am very happy with this phone,it shipped right on schedule to the day and I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the phone.I love it
Rated 5 out of 5 by stargazer27565 Great Phone considering its pre-paid
I have had this phone for a long time now. I just read all the other reviews and I have to say I don't agree at all. Yes, its a bit pricey for the phone itself, BUT you cant beat 45$ a month for unlimited everything. My signal is exceptionally good and I hardly ever have a call dropped. Yes, the memory is kind of small but if you get a memory card AND you know how to use it, you shouldn't have a problem unless you have a ridiculous amount of apps or music or pictures or videos. All in all, I have to say I am 100% and then some HAPPY with this phone even to the point that I need a new phone but don't want to change the phone I have. haha.
Rated 5 out of 5 by prettygrits Repeat buyer of this phone
For the price, this phone is awesome. I highly recommend it especially for people that have trouble using the touchscreen keyboard! I have neuropathy in my fingers, so using a touch screen to text is out of the question. It seems that slide qwerty keyboards on touch screen phones are a dying breed, so this phone is the only one I have purchased (and repurchased) with confidence! The camera does not have a flash, but overall takes pretty good pictures. Also, video record is ok. I love Android and being able to sync to my google accounts. The sound quality on the phone is pretty loud as well, making the Spotify app I subscribe to worth the money. I could go on and on about all the great assets of this phone, but it is listed in the product description. The only thing I don't like about the phone is the limited amount of memory. Even with a 16g sdcard, I am limited as to how many apps I can download. This isn't that big of an issue because I have a laptop and tablet. Most people nowadays do. I do have facebook, gmail, google chrome, Spotify (which is a pretty big app), weatherbug, AVG, and android assistant. All the above does take up a lot of space, but it fits my preferences just fine.
Here is a great tip that I have learned since I started using StraightTalk through Walmart. It explains why I say I am a repeat buyer of the phone! Always buy the phone through Walmart or Walmart.com and purchase the replacement plan. It's worth the $9 or so! Since I am accident prone, dropping things all the time, I always buy the plan. Once I've managed to bash it up enough, I call the excellent walmart replacement plan service line. Every rep I've ever talked to is so nice and their first language is English :)! (I never call straight talk!) They send an email with a label for shipping via UPS. Before I ship the phone out, I go ahead and purchase another Optimus Q plus service plan and turn it on using the straight talk website. This way I am never without a phone. Once I send the phone to them, it takes about 7-14 business days to get the check in the mail. Pretty cool! I am about to purchase my 3rd Optimus Q. I sure hope they never discontinue it!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by tamthetoolmam I'm sure it would be a good phone if it didn't power off with full battery and if it got a signal. Battery doesnt hold up either.
Rated 2 out of 5 by CrazyNYer I thought my samsung was bad, this takes the cake.
My first android and have had it about a month. I think I suffer from fat finger disorder so I had to get something with a slider keyboard as well. the keys are hard plastic which tends to cause your fingers to slip a little and the E & O keys lettering is already scratching off. If you play any games or even during charging you'll notice that the phone will get hot very quickly. most days I have to charge it atleast 2 times (Yes, I did follow the instructions on initial battery charging). As to not completely suck up battery power you have to stop everything from running when not in use and also turn the screen brightness down as low as possible... if you go outside and try to look at your screen with it turned down low, you will not be able to see it and then have to turn the brightness up to use it sucking up even more power. Im sorry I listened to the person i got a recommendation from as now Im finding out they had the same issues with this phone.
Rated 1 out of 5 by CandyApples674 DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE
This phone was great for the first two weeks or so, then after that it just broke down.
Here's a list of what's going wrong:
I have to charge it at least 3 times a day
It takes about 5 hours to go from full battery to dead without even touching it
It lets me install a whopping 3 apps before the memory is full and it becomes a expensive paper weight
It won't let me put things onto the SIM card to free up space
It doesn't send texts half the time, it won't ever download pictures
The speaker barely works
The touch screen freezes half the time
It is CONSTANTLY glitching
The internet is slower then death
The cover for the USB port broke
The paint on the buttons wears off quickly
The camera is terrible, unless you live on the sun itself you will never have enough light to take a picture
Bottom line: THIS PHONE IS TERRIBLE, DON'T EVEN BOTHER WASTING YOUR MONEY!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Macc123 NEVER BUY THIS PHONE!
I have been using this phone for about 9 months. The battery life is horrible. It only lasts for about 3 hours if I'm not constantly on it, so I have to take my charger everywhere I go if I want to use my phone. I liked this phone from the start, except the HORRIBLE reception it got EVERYWHERE I went. The camera is horrible. If they were going to make the camera so bad they should've at least added a flash to the phone. After using the phone for about 3 months, the charger that came with it stopped working for my phone. It worked for everyone elses phone that had the same charging slot as mine. Ever since December started I have had more & more trouble with that stupid phone. It won't charge without shutting off every 2 minutes, except if I keep music on while its charging. It freezes up about 3 or 4 times each day, so I have to take the battery cover off and take the battery out. I have had to download a texting app, because the one that came on the phone stopped working. It drops calls like crazy now. And I don't receive a text back from anyone until about an hour after they sent it. I don't get voicemails until around 24hours after someone leaves one. I am very unhappy with this phone, and I've decided to get rid of this one, and buy a new DIFFERENT one. I wouldn't give this phone to my worst enemy, that's how bad it is. Don't buy this phone.
Rated 2 out of 5 by OldSchoolGamePlayer Fair entry-level Android; low battery life
The Optimus Q phone has a short battery life, only 150MB (that's right MEGABYTE!) internal memory and a slow processor compared to other pre-paid smart phones. Once the "low memory" warning appears, forget sending/receiving texts or much of anything else. Even though you have a microSD card, many apps will not allow you to move them to the SD card. Facebook cannot be moved and takes 44MB of the total memory. And the slow processor sometimes can't handle several background tasks running AND choose active apps at the same time. The phone will just freeze for awhile then move on OR just reboot itself. This made my wife VERY unhappy with this phone.
So if you want an "OK" smart phone with all of the features this phone offers, then the Optimus Q is not all that bad. The phone works great with Straight-Talk as far as voice, texts, running apps (one-at-a-time) web access and such. But the low internal memory and slow processor ranks this phone at the low-end side of Android smart phones in my opinion. The battery might last longer than 2 hours if you don't over-task the phone.
FYI ... You can void your warranty, root the phone (search Android forums on the benefits) and force apps to load to the microSD. The slow processor could use the extra-quick access rate of a class 10 versus a class 4 microSD (Amazon Basics' microSD cards are very good and no one beats their price ex: $11.74 for a 16GB class 10).
One last note; I did not root this phone, but I did return it in less than 45 days. Although my wife wanted a slider QWERTY keyboard, she gladly gave-up this feature for the Samsung Proclaim with 1GB internal memory and 1GB processor at the same price as the Optimus Q
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sugabug2404 Texting Canada
I was paying $80/mth for Verizon's pre-paid unlimited talk, text, & 1GB of data. They only have one Android phone for their service. Straight Talk gives you multiple Android phones to choose from & is half the price. I text my fiancé in Canada & wanted the service to allow me to do that. I was told by a ST rep that I would have to get one of a few specific phones that would allow me to text Canada & I would have to purchase the International $60 plan. I chose this phone because of the slide out keyboard, it was one of the designated phones I was told to purchase, & took a chance by purchasing the $45 plan card to see if the texting would work and save me money. The gamble paid off. It only took a couple of hours to transfer my Verizon prepaid number over, I get 4/5 bars in an area where the coverage was questionable, & I can text Canada! I only give it 4/5 stars because even for a smart phone the battery does drain pretty quickly but if you can turn off your data you can save the battery from draining so fast. The 2.0 mp camera is a disappointment considering how much you spend. Other than that the browsing speed is impressive compared to the HTC Rezound 4G phone I previously had. All in all I'm pretty happy with my purchase!
Rated 5 out of 5 by thegirldressedinblack Great phone!
My mom got me this phone for my birthday and I love it! It's my first smart phone so it took me a little while to get used to the touch screen and everything. The only minor flaw is the battery life runs out a bit quickly, but then again I hear that's normal with touch screen phones. Plus I'm constantly on it. I live out in the woods and I was afraid I wouldn't get good service out here but it works just fine. I recommend this product for anyone who is on a budget and wants a smart phone.
Rated 4 out of 5 by AOKShoppingGirl Great Average Phone
This is a great phone. It's a great first android. I didn't want anything too fancy. Just something to get the job done. I have had two simple issues with the phone but had simple fixes. The memory card that came with it was not great quality and the phone was not reading it. It kept telling me to insert a memory card (the memory card was already installed) and then I would shake the phone and it would say now formatting. Got a Scan Disk memory card and installed it. I have yet to have it happen again. Another issue I had was that the phone would not read my home WIFI connection. The phone would say connecting but never would it would go right back to 3g. I got a FREE app for that issue and now it's resolved. Other than that I like this phone. It's a keeper.
Rated 3 out of 5 by ericaperica It's ok...
I love LG phones so I really expected more out of this. I have had it 4 months and it's been nothing but problems, it won't stay charged, the screen presses buttons by itself. and it's slow. I am going to try another brand.
Rated 1 out of 5 by sean777 "Nice" phone...but "POOR" reception!!!
The actual phone itself was ok...but the reception where I live was "horrible"!!! My old samsung flip phone gave me better signal strength/service than the Android did!!! I couldn't get any signal strength on one side of my house...& a little on the other side!!! Sometimes, the phone wouldn't ring when people were calling me, but I would get a voicemail notification & that's how I knew someone had tried to call me!!! Also, I would be talking on the phone & when I went to the other side of my house, the call would get dropped!!! Don't even let me comment on the internet connection...or LACK THERE OF!!! I am returning it to the store & going elswhere for service.
Rated 1 out of 5 by GinnieB Worst phone I've EVER owned!!!!
I bought this phone back in February thinking it would be an easy transition into a smart phone. I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with this particular phone model. Straight Talk has already replaced two devices, resulting in this being my 3rd LG Optimus Q. The phone is too expensive for all the problems I've had!!! Save yourself the headaches and the $180
Rated 1 out of 5 by kingreview unless you live in a area that has good reception with sprint do not buy this phone it not worth the time or hassle.
Rated 3 out of 5 by sonwil Straight Talk LG Optimus Q Android Prepaid Cell
THE ANDROID PHONE NOT THAT GREAT ON SIGNAL. BUT I HAVE ALWAYS USED STRAIGHT TALK AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM I WILL GET BETTER SIGNAL WITH JUT A STRAIGHT TALK OLDER CELL PHONES
Rated 1 out of 5 by Mijamaza Service signal stinks
After calling Straight Talk and asking specifically if this phone would work in my area, and being assured that it would, I purchased it. I have absolutely NO service signal AT ALL to make phone calls, but can send text messages. It;s a shame that those of us who would like to upgrade to a better phone don't have the ability to do so.
Rated 1 out of 5 by kayleesmommy3 Slow and Freezes up a lot! Waste of Money!!!!!!!!!
Do not waste your money on this phone!! The Straight Talk Optimus Q freezes up a lot and most of the time I'd have to take the battery out and put it back in to get it to work again. I bought this phone in Dec. 2011. I recently decided to use the replacement plan I got so I could get a different phone through T-mobile, atleast with them you're not forced into buying the most expensive plan they have to use an android when you dont need unlimited talk time. Straight Talk is good if you have a phone that is NOT an android though. The connection was slow and did not work as well as it said it would. When I would text it would take at least 20 seconds to send or to even let me go back to look at any text messages in my inbox! I liked the option of the slide out QWERTY board but it's not worth the aggrivation! Waste your money on something else! I wish I did so I wouldn't have had to wait a week to get a new phone!
Rated 5 out of 5 by SoulLovinMan Good phone for the money
I have been using this phone for 3 months now and I love it. It may not be and iPhone but it does what I need it to do. Plenty of free apps on the android market that suit my needs. The price is good too.
