I opened up the box to find the keyboard, and a resealable bag containing the one page manual and a pair of AAA batteries. The instructions indicate that you are to remove the nano receiver from the keyboard. However I absolutely cannot find it. I see two rectangle spots up along the front (or back, whichever you call the one facing away from you) edge but they just look like spots where a different model might be cut out or something. I suspect one of the two should have the receiver in it but does not. I really think I have a lemon, but since I don't know for sure where the receiver should be, I am not making a special 25 mile trip to return it.

    • A. I did eventually find it laying on the floor. I have no idea where it was in the box, but it must have fallen out as I opened it. Be careful for that.

Small Sleek Keyboard Good for the Price

I was really looking for a keyboard with soft touch keys that I didn't also have to buy a mouse to come with it. This fit the bill perfect. Pros: Very responsive keys from from about 20 feet away. I run a separate wireless mouse with no interference whatsoever. Cons: Kind of too small to sit in your lap. May work better as a sit on the desktop keyboard, but the compact design is odd for quick notes from the couch. The delete key in integrated on the keypad located on the right side of the keyboard and can ONLY be accessed by turning the number lock off. This is the first keyboard I have ever seen that asks for you to do this and makes for some awkward fidgeting if you like to edit things that involve numbers and want to delete something. Somewhat of a design flaw.

Never spilled anything on it/dropped it, kept it in great condition. Keys became randomly unresponsive. Bottom row of keys stopped working after three weeks. Overall a huge waste of time. Would not recommend to anyone.

This keyboard is junk! It skips letters. Types 2 letters when all you need is one. Spacebar works half the time. I got bought and this problem happened. Took it back and got another same problem. In this short review I have had to add 4 letters and delete 2 extra. Stay away from this piece of junk!! Wal-Mart should remove this item from the shelves At 24 bucks there is much better keyboards!

    Quiet laptop-style keys
    1/20/2014

    Customer review by JM111

I've had this keyboard for 2 months now and haven't had the issues some others have had with keystrokes not registering. I bought this keyboard for my job which involves nearly nonstop typing 8+ hours a day, 5+ days a week, so it's imperative that I have a keyboard with no glitches that are going to slow me down. After 2 months of heavy use, I haven't noticed any problems. The best feature, in my opinion, is the quietness of the laptop-style keys. Fast typists can go at it rapidfire without having to endure that deafening clackity-clackity-clack sound that a lot of other keyboards make. I've also found that my fingers don't fatigue like they do with the clackity-clack keyboards. The small, slender size of the keyboard takes up essentially no room at all in my laptop case. As for the batteries, I've had to change them twice in 2 months. I use the cheap store-brand batteries, though, and I don't know how much of a difference that makes.

When typing, sometimes you have to hit the same letter 3-4 times just to get the device to register it. Short battery life.

There is not one bit of useless fluff or artsy fartsy design sculpting on this keyboard. It is pure and clean functional beauty. I think this should be submitted for a design award. I do a lot of CAD work. CAD commands are crazy different and can tie your fingers in knots which is why I use a left and right trackball and an extra keypad for my left hand. This keyboard is a very compact design and leaves more room for my extra input devices. Being so compact, the keys are of normal size and spacing. It is also very thin and I can see putting this easily in my tiny backpack along with my 12 inch IBM Thinkpad tablet notebook. It is 15 3/4 inches wide by 5 3/8 deep and 3/4 inch thick at its highest. The keyboard layout is different. At first I was afraid of the DELETE key location but have found it to be a much more natural location as the DELETE and ENTER keys are quicker and easier to work together. It also works well together with the the BACKSPACE key when cleaning up and editing text. It does not have a right CONTROL key and this might be a deal breaker for some but I rarely used it. The INSERT key is on the bottom row next to the DELETE key and this is in a much better position for me because it is used a lot in my CAD program. The HOME, PAGE UP, DOWN and END keys are in the most sensible arrangement I have ever seen. It appears to me that the designers at Onn did their homework on the ergonomics of key arrangements. This arrangement will speed up my work. The Nano wireless arrangement appears faster than my USB keyboard and I have yet to see a dropped letter. Or maybe it is just the short throw of the keys. This is another productivity gain. I will purchase 2 more of these for my other computers.

    Avoid This Keyboard
    4/30/2012

Onn, An embarrassment to modern computer keyboards. The Onn Keyboard's functioning severely limits work time. I will start with the biggest complaint I have: every other letter I typed didn't register at all. At first I though I was pressing down too lightly, but after slamming down on the keys the same result occurred. I bought this keyboard to improve my work time (as a designer I use shortcuts and hot-keys all the time to shorten my work time). After working with this product for less than an hour, I was fed up, and I spent more time correcting keyboard provided typos than doing useful work. In addition to just plain poor functionality, this keyboard suffers from a severe lack of any anthropometric thought: the keyboard is an uncomfortable fit for just about anyone. The key spacing is terrible and results in the functionality of a smart-phone keyboard without the swype feature. The adjustable angled range of the keyboard doesn't allow for the keys to be placed high enough up off a desktop and it gave me severe wrist pain after a half hour of use (my standard keyboard does not.) Also, the keyboard is noisy, and feels cheaply made and flimsy. The looks are the only reason I can give this a 1 star rating (that and I can't give it a 0 star rating) but it is no where near good enough to justify a purchase. I would HIGHLY encourage anyone to stay away from this product that can type more than 10 words per minute (I assume that the positive reviews of this product were from people that had no need for faster paced working/typing). The wireless design is buggy and provides additional problems despite being a plug and play device.

I usually don't write reviews but really felt I needed to on this one. I REALLY liked the design of this keyboard; compact, small usb connector, and the feel of the keys. However, after just a couple of months, the "o" key doesn't want to work. There are other keys that periodically won't work but mainly the "o." It also tells me that the batteries are dead just a few hours after I've inserted new ones. If the batteries are left unchanged, the low battery light goes away. I would not recommend this keyboard as much as I would love to. (And I've had to back space a zillion times in typing this because it continually misses the "o." Just a little frustrating when you are in a hurry.)

I bought this at my local walmart to replace a keyboard and mouse that i already had. already had another mouse to use with it. Works great. Love the nano receiver small and compact have it pluged into the front of the computer with the cover closed over it and it works like a champ. Also love it because i can use it with my laptop. The only thing thats a little odd is the layout and there the delete key is.

The Onn Wireless Keyboard is a good product. Not great with range but gives you a few feet to work with. The battery life for the keyboard is great.
