The GMC Denali 700c Men's Road Bike is built around a lightweight aluminum road bicycle frame. As its name suggests, it is meant for typical road usage, such as plain commuting or racing. It features a slim wheel and a smooth tire that reduces the friction between the road and the tire. This GMC Denali 21-Speed Road Bike is equipped with alloy calipers and brake levers to make stopping smooth and precise. The rims of the X-Large GMC Denali 700c Road Bike are made of high-profile alloy Vitesse and perform as good as they look. A better aerodynamic position is possible with the lower hand position. Shimano Revo shifters allow you to shift without taking your hands off the handle bars, providing safety and confidence. A Shimano derailleur completes the road cycle drive train for quick and smooth gear changes. This GMC Denali 21-Speed Road Bike is a good entry level bike and is well worth the price.

  • A. 9/16ths wrench worked the front axle bolts, a screwdriver [multi-head screws for the derueller stops], and allen wrenches [2 sizes I got through using SAE] and my front gear shift cable needed slack taken up [pliers/3/8'' fit looser than I'd like but did it, I'd use pliers or find a metric wrench], same for one of the brake cables. I'm used to derueller setups and the front tire, reflector, seat and bottle holder went right on, took about an hour.

  • A. It is easy if you have the proper size tools. (metric) If you have it shipped to a store, they are supposed to assemble it for you if you request, however.

  • A. It is very easy to assembly if you are familiar with tools. If you dont own any tools and never touch them then maybe you should have someone else put it together but there are no advanced technical skills needed.

This bike comes very well protected for shippind...takes longer to unpack and take the tape and cardboard off then it does to assemble bike!

  • A. It does NOT have quick release wheels, etc. You can view this as a good or bad thing. I view it as OK, because I don't need to take the wheels off in a hurry, and I don't want it to be easy for anyone else to take the seat or wheels. Plus, it keeps the cost down. To adjust the seat and handlebars, all you'll need are two allen wrenches, which should cost very little to buy. I saw a multi-purpose tool for bikes today for under six dollars.

I just purchased a GMC denali road bike, and the front wheel is crooked, what do i do ?
by an anonymous customer 6/19/2011

  • A. "Crooked ?"..#it wobbles when it's spinning means either spoke/rim adjustments or the wheel rim is bent, possibly spokes stretched# I'd lean toward the wheel is bent #especially if it's bent much# if sorting out a new purchase, bent = stretched enough to matter [doesn't really bend back exactly] at some point.

  • A. I had the same issue. Take it to the local Wal-Mart show them your receipt and have the assembler take care of it for you. If it's easier just take it to a local bike shop, spend the $15-$25 and have them true the wheels for you. The bike's not hugely expensive to fix and it's probably a big hassle taking it back to the store to see if you can get help with it.

GREAT BIKE! GREAT PRICE! Oh did I say GREAT BIKE?!

Customer review by GJM47

After shopping for about a month for a road bike, I settled on the 25' Denali (black). My brother in law has been riding for a couple years doing several bike runs and I thought I would like to try it after dropping 55lbs. First, I am 6'2" with a 33" inseam, 240lbs. The bike fits me perfectly. Picked up bike at Walmart pickup counter and box was in perfect condition. I purchased the all-in-one bike tool kit that I would carry in the under seat bag and realized it had all the tools necessary to assemble. The only wrench size that it didn't have was for the pedal installation which I had anyway. Bike was packed nice and tight. Anyone with any common sense could put it together in less than a half hour which I did. I will be taking it to a bike pro to get it tuned up nonetheless. This bike looks expensive and feels solid. Riding position is excellent. Brakes are not great but will suffice till you feel like changing them. The handle bar shifter took a little getting used to but shifts smooth. I'm sure with time I will make some upgrades but if you are looking for a first bike that is easy on the wallet, purchase it now.

I bought this size because I am 6"3" with a 34" inseam. The standover height was perfect for me. The bike cam with the rear wheel, brake, chain and derailleurs assembled which was a pleasant surprise. I had to assemble the head unit, seat and front wheel. Make sure you have some metric tools and metric Allen wrenches for the head unit and seat. Make sure you are comfortable adjusting brakes. If you owned a road bike before or put bikes together for your kids at Christmas (and in the dark) you should be ok. I have ridden this bike about 10 miles so far. The stock seat is very uncomfortable and I changed it out for a Bell seat on clearance at Walmart for $5. If you are looking to get into cycling or, just to get some exercise or like me you cannot run anymore, then this will get you into the sport without spending $800 or more for a road bike.

I purchased this bike over the summer and havent been able to ride as much as I wanted but the times I have been on it I have only had minor problems that I would expect you would have with any priced bike that a qualified bike tech didnt put together. I havent had a bike since I was a child and I am 42 years old and wish I would have never stopped riding. I am still adjusting derailluers but thats because I love to work on my own bike but can just as easily took it to a shop and have a qualified tech do it but it is still rideable. The seat or saddle as experienced bikers like to call it is killing me and will change that soon. By the way I am 6'4" and weigh 295lbs.

It is a bargain. I used to work in a bike shop, and race bikes. Now, I'm 55 and just wanted a bike to ride around. The quality is far better than I imagined, and you cannot beat the price. Get it. You won't be sorry. But, like any bike that comes in a box -- and I mean any -- it will need some adjustments before it's ready to roll.

Kickstand broke off in the first month as it also came with a bent front rim. The brakes don't stop so well.
