16' x 42" Inflatable Ring Pool 3.7 5 118 128
16' x 42" Inflatable Ring Pool I have waited two weeks before writing this review. My husband and I set the pool up almost three weeks ago. We have fairly flat land around our house, so finding a level area wasn't difficult. We did put down about 400 pounds of sand underneath the pool to fill in a low place. The pool is within 2 inches level from one side to the opposite. And it does not bulge out at all.Setup was super easy. I think it would have been difficult to set up by myself, however. My husband and I removed the heavy pool from the box, laid out the included ground cloth (which I do wish had some rings to stake it down, but it doesn't), unrolled the pool on the ground where we wanted it, inflated the ring (must have an electric pump, would take FOREVER to do it by hand), and started filling it up with the water hose. It only took about 30 minutes of prep time to get to this point, and that INCLUDED the time it took us to pour out all the sand we purchased elsewhere to fill in our low spots. The time it takes to actually fill your pool depends on the water pressure in your area.As the pool filled with water, I walked around the floor of it, smoothing out wrinkles and ensuring that it was smooth on the floor. We filled the pool up for about 3 hours that night, and then finished the next day by filling it for another 3 hours. I must say that this was very easy to set up and fill.My husband assembled the ladder, which has a weight rating of 300 pounds. My husband is 6'1" and just steps over the side of the pool. However, I am almost a foot shorter and NEED the ladder, as do my 3-year-olds. The ladder seems very sturdy and is pretty heavy. It is not so heavy though that I can't remove it from the pool myself. I do remove it each night to make sure my children do not sneak out and try to get in without me. It is too heavy for small children to move - a definite plus! The pool cover works great. We've used it a couple times. Really helped heat up that water quickly, especially when the sun was shining hot. The cover is now off and we won't be using it for the rest of the summer. I do like having a cover though. We do not have trees around our house, so we really don't have a need to use the cover in the summer. The maintenance kit that is includes is a skimmer and pool vacuum that share a pole. These two are interchangable to use with the telescoping pole. The skimmer is great for getting the little bugs off the surface of the water. The pool vac is great for cleaning the floor of the pool. I have used it a couple times already. It is easy to use, just hooks to your water hose, which creates suction and zaps the dirt/debris off the pool floor and sucks it into a little attached bag that will have to be cleaned afterwards. VERY easy to use! My kids like watching me use it. They help me find all the debris on the pool floor.I purchased a starter kit chemical set at Walmart to use with this pool. We have shocked the pool a few times now, have just added chlorine tablets to the filter basket, and are going to add Algaecide and pH Down to get our water right. This kit came with test strips, shock, chlorine tablets, and an online guide. I highly recommend getting one of these starter kits. They are very easy to use. We will probably go with the Intex saltwater chlorine system next year, but this year is our "trial period."All-in-all, this is a great starter pool for a family wanting a pool larger than a kiddie pool. The water level on this one is right around 3 feet deep, perfect for a family with small children. The 16 foot width is the measurement across the middle of the pool, so the base is actually a bit wider and the top (inflatable ring part) a bit smaller, but there is plenty of room for our family of four to have tons of space to float around and play all at the same time. For $200, how can you go wrong?! 06/03/2010
FUNTASTIC! My son purchased this pool for the family then the following summer he passed it on to me and I set it up in my yard where we all enjoyed it regularly for 3 more seasons! He paid 225. 00 We are upgrading this year to the oval larger pool. leveling is the hardest part but worth it in the long run,if stored properly this pool will last. Its 4th season we discovered the blue ring had dry rotted/detieriatedMy son is buying another 16'x42"for his back yrd today.Hope this is helpful 06/13/2010
Poor Quality I have purchased 3 previously of the easy step pools all made my Intex corp. This pool is by General Foam Co. and is very cheaply made. Pump is like something that might be in a fish aquarium. Do not purchase this pool, only the ones made by intex corp. 04/01/2010
I was so excited about getting this pool!! It was such a great value and I figured if my famiy and I got one summer out of the pool it would still be a great deal!!! Set up was a snap.. less than an hour and we were filling it up with water...however, the inflaitable ring would not stay inflaited. We could never find the pin hole that was apparently there. After filling with water for 10 hours we had to drain the pool and return it to Walmart... Wasnt such an easy task I might add!!! Took several hours to tear down and load up!!! Soooo disappointed!! We didnt even get the chance to take a swim..... But I consider this a really cheap lesson in inflaitable pools!!! Good luck if you take the plunge!!! 04/18/2010
