Yes, we just plugged it in to a regular outlet at home.

Is there a reset  on the machine? We made 3 batches and it quit working.

Did you wash out the inside of the ice maker as suggested? That might be your problem.

Answering my own question here. I did wash it out but that didn't help. What did was flushing the unit with 1 cup of vinegar and water to the Max fill line then ran it thru several cycles, tossing out ice til it no longer had a bad taste. So if anyone else happens to have tha problem I hope that works for you too.

No problem, we use water right out of the faucet, we have reverse osmosis.

I was worried about the cubes tasting like plastic, but they didn't...I ran it through 3 times, the 2nd time I put vinegar in it..maybe that will help? Mine tastes fine.

I had good ice from the first batch. I would take it back.

I wiped down the inside of mine with vinegar then ran a cycle with filtered water and added a cap full of vinegar to the water. That was probably enough, but then I also ran a cycle with one whole lemon (squeezed) and then drained and washed the unit again. It got rid of the awful taste.
At first the awful taste ruined my Dr. Pepper, now I can even drink my filtered water with ice from this unit without the awful taste.

No, but I did clean the unit before using as recommended in the instructions. There is some smell to the unit's fan output for a short period when you first using it, which is not unusual.

my husband said they tasted like soap at first. But we've cycled about 3 gallons of water thru it and he said the taste is almost gone.

Have had 2 of these machines and both did the same thing Solution: I rinse the ice before using and it gets rid of the smell and taste. However I have found that after it has been run for a while all of this go"s away. I think it is the new that causes it.

We always run some ice through the machines before we use them. It does smell for a while but it eventually goes away, It's just because it's new. We use bottled water all of the time in it.

I have not tried this in the ice maker,  BUT I would recommend cleaning the unit as you would a coffee maker using a water/vinegar solution and then running 1 or 2 cycles for clean,  regular water to rinse.  Of course,  throw the vinegar/water solution ice and the 2 rinse cycles of ice away and then check the flavor/smell... You can google how to clean coffeemaker and you will find the correct measurements.  I believe it&#39;s 1 cup vinegar to 12 cups water.  I do this on my coffeemaker about 1x a month to keep the reservoir and hoses clean from bacteria etc.  I highly recommend this as the solution to your problem.

Yes, you can turn it off and on whenever you want. It is just a simple machine with no water line hookup and simply plugs into the wall. I highly recommend these machines - we love ours!

Not likely, unless you want a block of ice in your freezer comprised of what started out as ice cubes.

The ice bucket in these things don't keep the ice frozen and they begin to melt immediately. That is how they are designed, once enough of the cubes melt, the water is recycled for another batch of cubes.

Yes. However, make sure you drain it first. Also, you'll need to frequently clean it to keep germs and mildew/mold from growing, which can also cause illness.

You probably could but the ice is pretty wet so after it is in the freezer for a while you will have to break it up again. I turn mine off thru the week and only use it on the weekends as it is in a camper. But I also don't store the ice, I just use it as it makes it.

Pretty cool machine and a good price compared to similar brands. Works perfect for a family of 2-3. More than that and the ice making speed would not be able to catch up. I would recommend this product where a fridge with an ice maker is not possible. My wife is lazy and never refills the ice trays to put back in the freezer. This product is perfect for a man who loves ice and has a lazy roommate or significant other.
