I've used every type of iced tea maker out there and this is my favorite. The great thing is that other types of pitchers fit under it and fill securely. I use a cafe style glass container that has a lid; I do not use ice. I pour water in the machine and already have cold water (not ice) to a certain level in the pitcher. This avoids having watered down tea from the ice and you get more tea made than ice. I always add the sugar substitute directly to the pitcher. It took me awhile to get the ratio of water to teabags where I like it (5 Tetley British Blend large bags to 5 Sweet N Low) & I have a pitcher always ready in the refrigerator. Most other tea makers have no way to fit another type of pitcher into the appliance. I love it, it used to be made under the Back to Basics Brand (or something similar to that name) from Target. I've used my current one for 5 years every day and I'm just ordering a replacement to have available when this one bits the dust!

I had the other ice tea maker that has a square container and it was hit or miss if the tea would go in the container. The West Bend ice tea maker is really great. I threw away my other maker but kept the container so I can have two containers of tea in the frig. I would recommed this tea maker to anyone. I love it. Have had no problems with it.

I used this tea maker every day. I love the speed of brewing. The ease of using and cleaning. I do not suggest putting the sweetener on top, I put in pitcher and it works just fine.

My wife and I are sun tea drinkers. During the winter the sun doesn't cooperate. I purchased the product to get by until summer. My wife says it makes better tea than the sun. I agree.

#1 - It makes really good tea, and I drink a lot of it! Summer in Texas, you know! #2 - The main problem I have with it is the pitcher does not pour "gracefully" -- when trying to fill the reservoir with water or when pouring tea -- spillage is uncontrollable. The reservoir opening is too small compared to the overall size of the teamaker, plus pouring difficulty makes filling it a mess! And tea always wants to dribble down the pitcher when trying to pour a glass of tea. #3 - The pitcher is much taller than most, which makes it difficult to fit into the refigerator, without shelf adjustment. #4 - It does make great tea!

Very happy with this ice tea maker. We had a different brand for a long time but it broke and we wanted to replace it. They no longer make the one we had so I read good reviews on this one and decided to give it a try. It is very easy to use and clean. Just like the reviews I read, the sugar dispenser isn't the greatest. I mix the sugar in the pitcher and it comes out just as good. This machine is not complicated at all.

This ice tea maker is wonderful! It is really easy to use.. just pour the water in the back, add your tea bags or ground tea to the filter, fill up the picture with water or ice to the correct line, then turn it on. It takes about 10 min. to brew then it automatically shuts itself off, so you can just walk away and forget about it. The tea taste amazing and theres of course no tea grounds in the bottom of your picture like when you boil tea on the stove. This is the best kitchen investment I've made. I highly recommend to everyone!!!!

I like the way it makes tea. I just wished it had a lid that seals so when you put it in the fridge it stays fresh.

I would not recommend anyone buy this ice tea maker. I have had it for over 3 months used it maybe 10 times and it has quit working. I called the company since it is still under warranty and they want me to return the unit to them for replcement but I have to pay return shipping and they will not re-imburse me for the charges. That is not a very good warranty if you have to spend $10 to return a $30 items. Get the Mr Coffee - it lasted for years and years with no problems! I tried to return this to walmart also but they said it was too late as it was past the 90 days. I am now stuck with a non working ice tea machine that is still under warranty!!

    • A. Plastic, prefer to glass. It is acttually some hard type of plastic that is rigid enough to ensure long life. Our first model of this brand lasted over 15 years before we had to replace it. Nothing lasts forever.

    • A. I recommend you do, but if you do not wish to simply fill to the water line as instructed, do your brewing and then fill to top when finished with water to bring to correct dilution/strenght of the final product. Sure is nice using the ice though when the weater is hot!

    • A. That is totally up to you. Depends on how strong of tea that you want. I don't add the ice myself. You can just add water instead. If you want the tea cold after it has been brewed then yes I would add the ice. But I just add mine to the tea I already have made. Hope this helps!
