This is my first bread maker. I've had it over a month and made several loaves. I haven't had any problems with it. The only function that really baffles me is the dough setting. It doesn't explain how the dough setting works in the manual. When I tried to use it - it just kept going for like an hour and a half and I wasn't sure what exactly was going on. I can make it quicker myself by hand. The recipes are okay, but I like a little more flavor. I'd also recommend using bread flour or adding gluten to improve the texture, but it's a good machine. Cleans easily too. The mixing part usually bakes into the bottom of the bread, but it's not a big deal to take it out. The sides brown more than the top. For the most part it mixes great, but sometimes there are minor spots on the side you can tell it wasn't completely mixed, but it's not really a problem. It's just superficial. The 2lb loaf especially doesn't fit in a bread bag - kind of tricky fitting in a sandwich bag too. I feel contented with this purchase.

My old bread maker, almost 10 years, finally made its last loaf. It was time to purchase a new one. After looking at all the reviews and realizing that I did not need nor want the "Cadillac" of breadmakers, I decided on the West Bend 2 lb. bread maker. It appeared to have all the features that I wanted and needed, nothing more, nothing less. The bread maker arrived promptly and setup and use was a snap. The control screen was easy to use and intuitive; unfortunately upon making the first loaf, the unit displayed a hideous grinding noise, like metal on metal. I stopped the unit and checked that the bread pan was seated properly. It was, I restarted it and the grinding continued, so loud that it scared the pets!! I let it finish the cycle and the bread came out beautifully. I thought maybe that was an aberration. I decided to try one more time, again the horrendous grinding noise, but also a wonderful loaf of bread. I'm returning it to get a new one; it would only be a matter of time before this one rips itself apart. Though, it does make great bread.

Great Bread Machine!!!!

This breadmaker has exceeded all my expectations!!! I thought there was no difference in the crumb from one bread machine to the next. That is not case, folks. I own a Breadman, which I have always liked, but I was curious about the West Bend. I was hooked after I baked my first loaf in the West Bend. The crust is chewy, but the crumb is more simiar to that of an Artisan bread. I was blown away!! The bread was so good, that I kept eating it without butter, or meat or even being toasted. It really is that good, folks. It comes with a pretty good instruction booklet, and the ease of operation is simple. If you have never owned a bread machine, take a chance on this one. I believe you will be very surprised. I know I was. If a loaf of white bread is this good, I'm wondering what my Italian and French bread loaves will taste like.

The first bread maker I purchased was a West Bend that I got at a Thrift Store and put about 40 loaves thru it before my husband broke it. It was the old one paddle type with the un-standard looking loaves. This new product design has really changed since then. I love that the recipe book includes a low carb and gluten free option. I like the standard size pan. I like that it makes HUGE 2 lb loaves. It is quiet and I feel easy to use. I did not have success with the low carb bread and I believe it was my ingredients, not the machine. I will keep trying! I am very happy with the West Bend bread maker and would recommend it.

I bought this bread maker based on excellent reviews, and having used the machine many times in the past month and a half, I must say the reviews were right! This bread maker turns out lovely bread that is perfectly formed and a lovely golden brown. I use the sandwich bread setting, which forms loaves the perfect size for sandwiches, which is our primary usage for the bread. It comes out moist and fluffy and perfect. I will admit it did take some tweaking to find the perfect bread recipe, but that was more a matter of preference than anything else. Though the sandwich bread recipe in the book that came with the machine did have a major typo in it, but I was able to figure out what was meant. Overall, this is a wonderful machine! I have done nothing but rave to my friends about it since I got it! I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a perfect loaf of bread made with ease!!

I've always had good luck with West Bend products and this one is no exception. Well made with an excellent bread pan and paddle. Bread is easily removed from pan as is the paddle from the loaf.. Controls are well placed and easily read.

I have used the bread machine three times since purchased. I really like the size and shape of the 2# loaf. I use the light crust setting and I really like the crunchy crust that it makes. I also like how stable it is. My last machine worked it way off the island and onto the floor..breaking into several pieces. I also like how many different recipes are offered in the instruction book. I would recommend the Westbend to others.

This is my first bread maker. Before buying, I researched for 3 weeks, I was so unsure! I had never made bread before, but all I could remember is the bread my momma made when I was a little girl, and I wanted that again. I am so please with this bread maker!! It's easy to use, doesn't make a lot of noise, won't walk across the counter, and the bread tastes just like my mommas! I have never been happier!!

This is my first bread machine. It is very easy to use and it has buttons you push for your programming. I have made to loafs of cinnamon bread and they came out beautiful. I used the 1.5 loaf , the light crust the machine did the rest. I would recommend this machine for a first time user.it does not bounce across the counter, it is not loud, its easy to use, clean up is quick, the paddle comes out easy to clean. The paddle did not come out in my bread. Also you can go to www.westbend.com and at the very bottom of the page you will see receipes click on it and go into bread machines and you will get wonderful everyday useful bread receipes. The receipes are the ones I am using.
