This is America as seen through the eyes of Pepe, a naive, south-of-the-border immigrant, searching for his grandmother's dying wish, the "Mexican Dream", two thousand dollars down on a home in the United States and a lifetime mortgage. Coming from a much simpler world, Pepe (and his best friend Santo, the inanimate Patron Saint of Immigrants) cross the border to find an array of characters: from real estate moguls to day laborers, Mexican Telenovela stars to dead grandmothers, everyone plays their part in Pepe's journey, each struggling to find their own version of the "American Dream". Coupled with its own humorous views on the "immigration problem", "Pepe & Santo Vs. America" was inspired by the admiration of many beautiful immigrant dramas, such as "La Misma Luna", "El Norte", etc. It seeks to celebrate Latino culture and show the immigrant struggle in a way few other films have: through comedy.
