Premiering at the Tokyo International Film Festival and North American Premiere at the 48th San Francisco International Film Festival, "Beyond Our Ken" is a departure for young director Edmond Pang Ho-Cheung (winner of the Best New Director Award at the 2003 Hong Kong Film Awards for his hilarious dark comedy "Men Suddenly in Black"). Unlike his usual black comedies, Pang creates an offbeat tale of two emerging young women, headlined by a breakthrough performance from Twins member Gillian Chung ("Moving Targets", "The Twin Effects I & II"), and the first Hong Kong film role for popular Mainland actress Tao Hong ("38 Degree Celsius", "The Master Swordman"). Co-starring Daniel Wu ("New Police Story", "Around the World in 80 Days"), "Beyond Our Ken" is one of 2004's most exciting Hong Kong releases, and further proof of Edmond Pang's status as one of Hong Kong's most promising young directors.
