Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

Beat The Devil: Four low-life crooks as well as their "associate" (Bogart) are en route to Africa, but are stuck in Italy because of their broken down steamer. They plan on making their way down to East Africa to some land rich in uranium and make off with it. While there, Bogart and his wife (Lollobrigida) meet up with a British couple (Jones and Underdown) who plan to run a coffee plantation in Africa. All eight get back on the now repaired steamer and once again set out to Africa...the boat floods and everyone abandons ship. They wind up on the shore and are taken in by a violent band of Arabs...and then the adventure really begins! "Charade": After her husband is murdered, Regina Lambert (Audrey Hepburn) soon leans that he was involved in the theft of $250,000. She now finds herself on the run from crooks and double agents who want to get their hands on the money. With on one to turn to she must get to the bottom of things before they get to her. A stylish story of intrigue filmed in Paris has Hepburn and Grant at their charming and sophisticated best."A Farewell To Arms": This first film version of Ernest Hemingway's novel A Farewell to Arms stars Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes. Cooper plays Lt. Frederick Henry, a World War I officer who falls in love with English Red Cross nurse Catherine Barkley (Hayes)-after first mistaking her for a woman of ill repute. Henry's friend, Major Rinaldi, is envious of the romance, and pulls strings to have Catherine transferred to Milan. When Henry is wounded in battle, he ends up in the very hospital where Catherine works. They resume the affair, which reaches an ecstatic peak just before Henry is returned to the front. The now-pregnant Catherine remains in Switzerland, sending letters by the bushelfull to Henry. But the jealous Rinaldi sees to it that Henry never receives those letters, leading Catherine to conclude sorrowfully that Henry has forgotten her. As the Armistice approaches, Henry makes his way to Switzerland, hoping to find Catherine. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide.
