"Ip Man" is set in the 1930s in Foshan, a hub of southern Chinese martial arts just as the Second Sino-Japan war breaks out. During the war, China is nearly ripped to pieces by racial hatred, nationalistic strife and warfare. Ip Man rose like a phoenix above these ashes as he defied an empire bringing hope to China. Winner of Best Picture and Actor, "Ip Man" ranks as one of the best martial arts movies of all time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by poogymom Our Family Loves this Movie and IP Man 2 Do not be afraid of the fact it is done in Chinese. The movie is so well done, the Chinese isn't an obstruction to enjoying the movie. The English subtitles are simple to read and follows action well, however you honestly don't need it much of the time. Donnie Yen is absolutely great in the roll of Ip Man. If you like being glued to a movie...you'll enjoy this one. This movie is based on actual historical events and is truly a great movie experience. 03/03/2013
