I read all the reviews on this mattress, as well as other memory foam mattresses since I have never had one, and it seemed to be getting mostly rave reviews, but I was still hesitant since you really need to lay on a mattress to see if it is comfortable for you. However I had it with my old mattress giving me backaches every morning, so I ordered my mattress online from Walmart. It only took about a week to arrive at my store, and the box for the california king foam mattress measures 19"x19"x37" and weighs 88 pounds, and fit easily by being laid down on the back seat of my 1994 Buick Regal, so there is no need to get a truck to move it, however if you have a hand truck or refrigerator dolly to roll it into the house, it will be much easier than to drag it along the driveway. The mattress is vacuum sealed which removes the air and therefore reduces the thickness of the mattress to about 4 inches, then they fold the mattress length ways onto itself, then the whole mattress is rolled up exactly like a big sleeping bag, that is how it fits into this 19x19x37" box. So once you get it into the bedroom, take it out of the box, remove the 6 layered heavy plastic wrap and retaining plastic straps which keep the mattress in its rolled up state, and carefully cut the plastic wraps from the mattress so it unfolds. Once you carefully cut vacuum sealed plastic from the mattress and allow air to enter the foam material, you will see in a matter of minutes that the mattress is rising to its ultimate height of 12", but it will take about 12 hours or more until the mattress firms up and feels solid enough to properly sleep on. Regarding the smell from the mattress, my bedroom only had a very faint smell like someone had been painting in the rear of the house, it was that slight, however I just opened the bedroom window, put a fan in the window screen, and let the room air out for the whole day, and I don't smell anything after about the first day at all, so there is no problem there. Now as for how the mattress performs, I am absolutely amazed on how much better I sleep, and I no longer wake up every morning with a backache from a sling shot conventional old mattress. I am 6"3 and 270 pounds, so I was concerned that I would sink into the mattress when I laid on it, however I only settled into the mattress maybe 1/8th of an inch, and it seems that my body is floating on a soft cloud, and the contours of my body are gently nestled onto the foam mattress which provides a superb sleeping vessel for me to finally get a good nights rest without having to constantly roll over all night long. In fact, since I have gotten this wonderful mattress, I don't wake up at night anymore like I used to do for the last 6 years, and even though it sounds weird, my dreams are more plentiful since I remember what I dreamt about when I wake up, along with feeling better rested than I have for many years. I tested out the other more expensive tempur pedic foam mattresses by laying on them in the furniture showrooms, and to be honest with you, I really don't feel any difference between my $450 dollar Walmart foam mattress, and the other name brand mattress that costs $4,000 dollars more, so I would have to ask the question, "Why spend more when you can't feel any difference between the products?" I am very happy with this mattress, and I can say that I will not buy a conventional spring type of mattress ever again since the foam mattresses provide me a superior sleep experience, a great value for the price and quality of the product, the protection of buying from Walmart, plus the mattress has a 20 year warranty. So now that you are all out of reasons to put off buying your new foam mattress from Walmart, why are you still sleeping on that worn out 8 year old spring mattress?
