Rated 5 out of 5★ by Hypercoyote What I've wanted out of D&D since I was a kid I remember seeing the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons advertised in comics back in the 90's and thinking how awesome it looked. When I actually got the opportunity to play the game, I was a bit disappointed to find out that most of the game was pencil and paper work. While this is great for people who had the time and imagination to come up with amazing scenarios, I wanted something a lot more visual and interactive. Enter the D&D Board Game series. These sets (including this one) take parts of the D&D world and put a board-game twist on them. The game is a co-op game where it's the players versus the game itself (so no more need for one player to always act as a DM). The game never plays the same way! There are several scenarios (and some new ones available online) that give you a different objective each time you play. In addition, as you play the game, you place random dungeon tiles in the way you choose to customize your dungeon layout. Monster spawns are also random (though some are specified in the game for scenario objectives). The game is not a pushover either, as it is very easy to have your team wiped out and fail the objective. Overall, it's a great game that can be played solo, but is best played with a group of friends (gameplay usually lasts 1-2 hours) that will not get old anytime soon. If you're looking to capture that D&D fun without writing campaigns, designing dungeons, and coming up with the back-stories, then this game is for you. 03/10/2014
