Movie Description

The following content was provided by the publisher.

Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school - but that's the least of his challenges. It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod - half human / half god. At the same time, Zeus, the king of all gods, has accused Percy of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt... the original weapon of mass destruction. Now Percy must prepare for the adventure of a lifetime, and the stakes couldn't be higher. With ominous storm clouds brewing over the planet and his own life now in peril, Percy travels to a special enclave called Camp Half Blood, where he trains to harness his newly discovered powers and prevent a devastating war among the gods. There, Percy meets two fellow demigods - the warrior Annabeth, who is searching for her mother, the goddess Athena; and his childhood friend and protector, Grover, who is actually a brave but untested Satyr. Grover and Annabeth then join Percy on an incredible transcontinental odyssey that takes them six hundred stories above New York City (the portal to Mount Olympus) and to the iconic Hollywood sign, under which burn the fires of the Underworld. At journey's end rests the fate of the world - and the life of Percy's mother Sally, whom Percy must rescue from the depths of Hell itself. Percy Jackson: Half human. Half god. All hero.

Rated 5 out of 5★ by Awesome Movie! I don't actually own this movie, but i love it. We are studying greek mythology in my english class right now, so my teacher decided to let us watch this movie. The whole class, including the teacher, loved this movie. We all could not wait to get to her class just to resume watching it. I have not read the books, but I can tell that they are great as well. I recommend this to anyone who is even slightly interested in greek mythology 04/14/2011

Rated 4 out of 5★ by Book is Better Than the Movie!! The movie was cool, but the the book was better than this. I liked the added music in the movie(Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" was a cool touch). It did stay true to the book. It is a good buy for the whole family. 07/12/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Could not into the Harry Potter movies after the first one, I happen to read book 2 of Percy Jackson by accident and could not stop reading. I had to buy all 5 and then found out there was a movie on the 1st book. Had to get it even though I was reading the 1st book. Was almost to the end but had to see the movie. Aside from the ending it followed the book pretty close. Am now am on book 3, hope they make more on the next books. Going to Mount Olympus. 08/05/2011
Rated 3 out of 5★ by good book bad movie this movie was orignaily a book. the books were amazing, the movie well not so much. if you have read the book then you know what i am talking about. im not going to go in to detail with the story line of the movie but what i am going to tell you is that it has very little in common with the book. i enjoyed both the book and the movie but the story line of the movie dose not do the book justice, their are even points in the movie that arn't in the book. infact they show up later on in the series. it was a good movie don't get me wrong but it deavieates from the plot of the book to the point to where its almost a diffrent story. 05/04/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Enjoyable Although the plot is a bit weak, the action is good if not fully believeable. But this is a story about the gods interacting with man from ancient history to modern day video games. If you can relax and enjoy a light fantasy that plays on several levels to engage all ages, and set your mind free to flow with the show, you will have a great time. If not, why did you consider this movie in the first place? Although it is enjoyable, do not let your mind wander while you wonder at the situations. It is easy to miss key hints of things to come. 08/31/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by My 10-year son LOVES this film! I purchased the book for my 10-year old son for Christmas and he read it within days...luckily it was part of a set which included Sea of Monsters and Titan's Curse! He thinks the film is AWESOME and cannot wait for the other books in the series to come out on film. 02/03/2011
