It comes pre-lubed and very high performance. But you must know how to use its quick release link.

The bike chain I bought online was of different manufacture than the one I purchased at one of the local stores. It also had five more links, which I needed for this particular application. It was a snap to install, with an easy to fit master link, unlike the (only) one sold at the store. Delivery was prompt, and I'll likely buy online from Wal-Mart again.

    Excellent chain

    Customer review by KenHed

Excellent chain, gets the job done. The package says the chain can be put on without any tools, which is completely false. Of course, if the master link could be put on without the use of any tools, then it would come off easily and would be useless. I tried snapping on the master link with a 6" pair of pliers, but it wouldn't produce enough leverage to snap it on. I had to use a 12" pair of pliers in order to get enough leverage. But the link snapped on with a clearly audible snap and I knew it was on for good. However, the master link is a bit tight and doesn't flex as well as the rest of the chain does, which doesn't seem to make any difference as far as the bike is concerned. There were NO instructions on how to snap the master link on in the package other than "no tools needed". I would purchase this product again, now that I know how to assemble it.

What tools will I need to install this chain?
    by an anonymous customer
    • you can cut the old chain off with a pair of electricians side-cutting pliers and a hammer while the old chain is resting on a block of wood; align the side-cutting pliers to cut below the outside pin link to force the outside link off the pin; repeat the process on the other side of the same pin; remove old chain and install new chain; when the new chain link is aligned correctly you can use the hammer to tap in the new chain link pin while the chain is resting on the block of wood; takes less than one hour of labor

    • A chain hook (or a long narrow zip tie, a bicycle chain tool, and allen keys or small wrenches and screwdrivers as needed to adjust your derailleurs after chain installation.

    • I installed this chain using simply a pair of pliers. It was pretty straightforward. No directions at all come in the box, so you have to figure out the connection if you haven't installed chains before. Pretty easy though.

    • Only a pair of needle-nose pliers, and maybe a small screwdriver or similar tool to hold the chain in place so it won't whip back over the sprockets.

    • I used a 12" pair of pliers. Smaller hand tools wouldn't give enough leverage to snap on the clip to the master link.
