Give Paul Stanley the helm... I got a sneak listen yesterday and heard the entire album for the first time. This is what happens when Paul Stanley produces a KISS album. You get great rock 'n' roll. Thayer plays great and even on a couple of tracks I almost mistake him for a certain ex-KISS lead guitarist! I've only given it one listening. So, some tunes may grow on me, but a BIG improvement on Psycho Circus, and definitely the best overall KISS album since Creatures.Below is my track by track review:1. MODERN DAY DELILAH (B)2. RUSSIAN ROULETTE (B+)3. NEVER ENOUGH (B-)4. YES I KNOW (NOBODY'S PERFECT) (A+)5. STAND (B-)6. HOT AND COLD (A)7. ALL FOR THE GLORY (C+)8. DANGER US (A-)9. I'M AN ANIMAL (A+)10. WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES (B)11. SAY YEAH (B-)Overall: B+ 09/24/2009
Kiss DELIVERS!!! Just heard the whole album last night and I felt like I was 6 years old again. Every song just has that Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun vibe that has been missing for so long. The band sounds tight and unified. Every member sings lead vocals just like the old days. Stand is just one of those great songs that comes along every now and then to remind you of the power of rock and roll whoa! Gene has returned to classic 70's form, rumbling bass and lascivious lyrics in tow. Tommy sounds more like old school Ace than Ace does these days, delivering blistering solos that literally smoke. He also does a great job on vocals. Paul as always, the mastermind, the ringmaster, produced, wrote, played and sang his butt off on this one. He's definitely inspired, as you will hear when you listen to his masterpiece, "Stand." Eric lays down some old school Peter-esque drums with more technique and ability. He also does a great job on lead vocals on the track All for the Glory that would make any Catman fan proud. 11 great, old school Kiss songs, all killer, no filler. Just an all around great rock and roll album with great hooks, great playing and great singing. 5 Stars. 09/16/2009
The gods of rock n' roll have answered our prayers Finally, an album that should have the KISS logo attached to it. This is the most amazing KISS record I have ever heard. Being a fan since 1975, this says a lot especially when I lost faith in KISS when Ace Frehley left for a secong heart breaking time. 11 great songs from start to finish. Not a bad song in the lot. Good thing Gene was smart enough to have Paul produce this record. This record could have come out in 1977/78. It is that good. I'm not a fan of Eric Singer or Tommy Thayer being in KISS but I think their youthful playing added a great deal to this album. Even the songs they sing lead on sound great. Amazing from start to finish. You saved my faith in KISS. I haven't liked a KISS record since Revenge.....until now that is. 09/29/2009
