Book Information

The following content was provided by the publisher.
The fourth book in the "New York Times" bestselling series "The Secrets of the Nicholas Flamel"--"The Necromancer"
San Francisco:
After fleeing to Ojai, then Paris, and escaping to London, Josh and Sophie Newman are finally home. And after everything they've seen and learned in the past week, they're both more confused than ever about their future. Neither of them has mastered the magics they'll need to protect themselves from the Dark Elders, they've lost Scatty, and they're still being pursued by Dr. John Dee. Most disturbing of all, however, is that now they must ask themselves, can they trust Nicholas Flamel? Can they trust anyone?
Alcatraz:
Dr. Dee underestimated Perenelle Flamel's power. Alcatraz could not hold her, Nereus was no match for her, and she was able to align herself with the most unlikely of allies. But she wasn't the only one being held on the island. Behind the prison's bars and protective sigils were a menagerie of monsters-an army for Dee to use in the final battle. And now Machiavelli has come to Alcatraz to loose those monsters on San Francisco.
Perenelle might be powerful, but each day she weakens, and even with Nicholas back at her side, a battle of this size could be too much for her. Nicholas and Perenelle must fight to protect the city, but the effort will probably kill them both.
London:
Having been unable to regain the two final pages of the Codex, Dee has failed his Elder and is now an outlaw-and the new prey of all the creatures formerly sent to hunt down Flamel.
But Dee has a plan. With the Codex and the creatures on Alcatraz, he can control the world. All he needs is the help of the Archons. But for his plan to work, he must raise the Mother of the Gods from the dead. For that, he'll have to train a necromancer. And the twins of legend will make the perfect pupils. . .

Book description

The fourth book in the New York Times bestselling series The Secrets of the Nicholas Flamel-- The Necromancer

Rated 4.9 out of 5★ by 7reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Good to the last page I love The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. This book is the fourth in the series and it's the best so far. You'll be entertained from start to finish, there's never a minute that bores you. The best part is that you get to meet famous people from the pages of history and mythology. It's so incredibly fascinating and imaginative. I purchased the other books in the series from another site, and did not get as good of a deal as I did at Walmart, wish I had of known they had these books. Definitely buying from here now on. I got the book cheaper and quicker throughh Walmart. 06/16/2010

Rated 4 out of 5★ by good, but disappointing I have been looking forward to this book for several months after reading the previous ones in the series. To me, this book is lacking some of the character of the previous books. Although there are exceptions, I feel that the overall character development has gotten lost in an effort to drive the story into new settings. The first part of the book was very well written and fit together very cohesively. However, afterward, I felt as if there was a lot of effort put into the rehabilition of the villains as well as the main characters going backwards. This is not necessarily bad by itself, however, it felt contrived and simply a means to stretch out the series. The characters also seem to forget the lessons of previous books without proper explanation. This book wasn't "bad", but it wasn't as fun to read as the others in the series.. it just wasn't on the same level. It also has an ending which leaves absolutely everything unresolved, and the reader largely disappointed at the turn of events. 06/28/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great book series Just received the book in the mail and if it is like the rest of the books in the series, it is going to be a great read. Just cannot put the book down. 06/30/2010
